Neben der hier erläuterten rechteckigen Fensterform sind auch Fenster mit trapezförmigen, schiefwinkligen und auch gekrümmten Fensterkanten möglich. Das Fräsen der ebenen, vorzugsweise aus Aluminiumguß bestehenden Rahmenhälften kann dabei auf einer 2-Achsen gesteuerten Maschine erfolgen. Die Fensterform muß auch nicht unbedingt eben sein. Auch Zylinder- oder Kegelschnitte sind machbar, jedoch ist dann die mechanische Bearbeitung entsprechend aufwendig.
