Abstract

A packing material of several uniform individual packages (2, 2a), such as bottles, dispensers, cans, powder boxes or the like, is made of a cardboard or corrugated cardbord blank (1, 1a) in a single piece that forms the packing (3, 3a) when it is set up, that has a width (B) that corresponds to the added depths of the individual packages (2, 2a) and that is subdivided into five sections (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) by four grooves (4, 5, 6, 7) that extend through the blank (1, 1a) parallel to one of its side edges (8). The first central section (9) forms a sidewall of the wrapping (1, 1a) and has a length (L1?) that corresponds to the height of the individual packages (2, 2a). The second section (10), located next to one side of the first section, forms the bottom wall of the packing (3, 3a) and has a length (L2?) that corresponds to the width (B1?) of one individual package (2, 2a). The third section (11), located next to the other side of the first section (9), forms the cover wall of the packing (3, 3a) and has a length (L3?) that corresponds to the width (B2?) of the lid surface of an individual package (2, 2a). The fourth and fifth sections (12, 13), opposite to the side wall, are shorter than the first section (9), so that the packing (3, 3a) is fixed in its set up state by strips (14, 15, 16, 17) that link the opposite longitudinal ends of the fourth and fifth sections (12, 13) directly to the first section (9).

Description

The invention relates to a packaging for wrapping several uniform single packs such as bottles, dispensers, cans, powder boxes or the like, consisting of a one-piece blank made of cardboard or corrugated cardboard, which has a width that corresponds to the added depths corresponds to the individual packaging and is divided into five sections by four grooves running parallel to a side edge, the middle first section forming a side wall of the packaging and having a length that corresponds to the height of a single individual packaging, and that on one side adjoining second section forms the bottom wall of the packaging and has a length that corresponds to the width of an individual packaging and wherein the third section adjoining the first section on the other side forms the lid wall of the packaging and has a length that corresponds to the width of the lid surface r corresponds to individual packaging and the fourth and fifth sections opposite the side wall are each shorter than the first section.

It is currently common practice to place the desired number of individual packs in a tray and then to cover them with a shrink film. In this way, pack units with several individual packs or packagings are brought onto the market. The shrink films are transparent so that you can always see which products are in this packaging. From an environmental point of view, however, alternatives to shrink packaging wrapped with shrink films are now being sought.

Eine gattungsgemäße Verpackung ist aus der US-A-2,913,105 bekannt.A generic packaging is known from US-A-2,913,105.

In this packaging, the sections of the blank forming the top and bottom walls of the packaging are fastened to the top and bottom of the individual packaging with the aid of adhesive or with the aid of adhesive tapes. Here, the adhesive strength of the adhesive is set such that when the package is opened it moves away from the can surfaces without leaving any residue. With this known packaging it is thus possible to remove individual cans without the packaging showing any visible damage.

Another generic packaging is also known from NL-A-286532. This packaging is intended for wrapping several cigarette packaging and has an adhesive coating in each of the opposite end regions. The packaging is fixed to the wrapped cigarette packaging by means of this adhesive coating. In order to prevent damage to the cigarette packaging, the adhesive coating of this packaging must also be adjusted in such a way that these edge areas of the packaging can be removed from the packaging without damaging the cigarette packaging. In this case too, it is then possible to remove individual cigarette packs without the wrapping showing visible damage. Both in the packaging according to NL-A-286532 and in the packaging according to US-A-2,913,105, the wrapping packaging is attached to the objects to be packaged with the aid of an adhesive connection, which at the same time brings about the stabilizing fixation of the wrapping packaging.

Furthermore, a similar packaging is known from US-A-3,146,885, in which the blank folded around the individual packaging has slot-shaped punch openings into which the flanged edges of packaged cans engage. With this packaging it is therefore necessary that the wrapped individual packs have projections or edges, in the exemplary embodiment described flanged edges, which engage in the slot-shaped punched-out portions of the blank. Single packs without such protrusions are not to be packed in the known packaging. With this previously known packaging, individual cans can also be removed without the packaging showing any visible damage.

The object of the invention is to improve generic packaging in such a way that it is only possible to remove wrapped individual packaging after the wrapping has been visibly damaged.

In the case of a packaging of the type mentioned at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention in that the packaging is fixed in the erected state by strips opposite the longitudinal end regions of the fourth and fifth sections, each connecting directly to the first section.

In this way, a packaging is created with which a number of individual packages combined to form a sales unit can be traded, as was previously the case with shrink packaging. The individual packaging is held securely in the packaging that envelops it and can only be removed if the packaging is visibly damaged. The packaging has sufficiently large open spaces, ie areas not enclosed by cardboard or corrugated cardboard, so that the individual packages sold or presented in the enveloping packaging remain visible. The individual packaging is completely enclosed on three sides by the blank of cardboard or corrugated cardboard forming the packaging and partially enclosed on a fourth side. Two side surfaces are not covered by the blank at all. The strips which fix the packaging in the erected state run over these sides.

In order to be able to form not only a straight and vertical side wall but also a packaging adapted to the lateral outer contour of the individual packaging to be wrapped, the invention provides in an embodiment that the first section is divided into at least three sections by means of at least two further grooves. These creases can preferably run in opposite directions, i. H. a grooving on the outside and a grooving on the inside of the blank, are formed in order to thus form a profile of the side wall of the packaging that is inclined in a partial area and is adapted to the outer contour of a bottle that is curved or has a shoulder, for example.

Finally, the invention provides that the strips are strips of adhesive tape. Due to the automatic or manual application of the adhesive strips, the cut up to the wrapping packaging can be securely fixed after inserting the individual packaging. In addition to the adhesive tape strips, it is also possible to produce the strips of cardboard or corrugated cardboard connecting the fourth and fifth sections on both sides to the side wall and to fasten them to the packaging by means of adhesive. In addition, the strips can also already be part of the blank to be erected for the packaging.

The packaging according to the invention consists of corrugated cardboard or cardboard, so that the use of plastic can largely be dispensed with. Only the adhesive strips to be attached may have plastic parts. Furthermore, the packaging according to the invention can be disposed of with the disposal systems existing in the trade, because of the use of plastic is dispensed with and only packaging and packaging aids made of cardboard or corrugated cardboard are used.

Figure 2
a package from the blank according to Figure 1;
Figure 3
an embodiment of a further blank and in

The width B of the blank 1 corresponds to the added depths of the individual packs 2 (FIG. 2), which are to be packed in multiples in the pack 3 (FIG. 2) formed from the blank 1. That is, the width B is matched to the number of individual packages 2 to be wrapped in the package 3 and is dimensioned accordingly. The one-piece blank 1 is divided into five sections 9, 10, 11, 13 by four grooves 4, 5, 6, 7, which run through the blank 1 parallel to a side edge 8. The middle first section 9 has a length L 1, which corresponds to the height of a single individual package 2. When the package 3 is erected, the first section 9 forms a side wall of the packaging 3. The second section 10 adjoining the first section 9 has a length L 2 which corresponds to the width B 1 of an individual packaging 2. When the blank 1 is erected to form the packaging 3, the second section forms 10, the bottom wall of the packaging 3. The third section 11, which is on the other side adjoining the first section 9, has a length L 3 which corresponds to the width B 2 of the lid surface of an individual packaging 2. In the case of a blank 1 erected in relation to the packaging 3, the third section 11 forms the top wall of the packaging. The second section 10 is followed by a fourth section 12 and the third section 11 by a fifth section 13. The fourth section 12 and the fifth section 13 are each shorter in their respective lengths than the first section 9. When the blank 1 is erected towards the packaging 3, the fourth section 12 and the fifth section 13 form the side wall opposite the side wall formed by the first section 9 Side wall of the packaging 3. After erecting the blank 1 to the packaging 3 and inserting the desired number of individual packages 2, the blank 1 is in the erected state shown in FIG. 2 by means of strips 14, 15, 16 and 17, in the example shown here fixed with adhesive tape. In this case, a strip 14, 15, 16, 17 starts from the opposite longitudinal end regions of the fourth section 12 and the fifth section 13, which connects the respective longitudinal end region directly to the first section 9 forming the rear wall of the packaging 3. In this way, on the one hand, the blank 1 is fixed in the erected state and, on the other hand, the individual packs 2 are also securely held in the pack 3. The individual packages 2 can only be removed from the package 3 after destruction of at least one of the strips 14-17 or partial destruction of the blank 1 forming the other wall areas of the package 3. Overall, the blank 1 is dimensioned such that the packaging 3 closely encloses the individual packaging 2 to be wrapped.

An exemplary embodiment can be seen from FIGS. 3 and 4, in which the blank generally designated 1a has a modification in order to adapt it to individual packs 2a, which has an outer contour with an inclined wall area. While the side wall 9 of the packaging 3 runs straight and vertical, the corresponding side wall of the packaging 3a has, in addition to straight and vertical sections 9a and 9c, an inclined section 9b. With regard to the embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, only the essential differences are discussed below. Parts and elements identical to the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 are provided with the same reference numerals as above and are not explained in detail. The essential difference between the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 is that the first section 9 is divided into three sections 9a, 9b and 9c by means of two further grooves 18 and 19 which run through the blank 1a. In this case, one of the grooves 18 is formed on the same side as the grooves 4-7 and the other groove 19 is formed on the opposite side of the blank 1a. The two further creases 19 and 18 are at a distance L₄ which corresponds to the length of the shoulder 20 of the individual packaging 2a. In this way, when the blank 1a is erected in relation to the packaging 3a, an inclined wall area 9b is to be formed, which adapts to the course and the inclination of the shoulder 20 of the individual packaging 2a, and lies against the shoulder 20.
