To an increasing extent and with increased emphasis, the trade desires to be supplied with transport packaging that can be converted into a shelf-compatible, ie. H. display open at the top and front can be converted. This transport packaging converted into a display is then placed on sales shelves, for example.

With transport packaging that can be used as a tray, sales products have been supplied to retailers for a long time. These known transport packaging consist of a lower part which is open at the top and in the predominant area of its front side and which is closed with a slip lid. The slip lid covers all side surfaces of the lower part with the exception of the bottom surface. The disadvantage of this transport packaging is that due to the slip cover covering the lower part over a large area, a relatively large amount of material must be used.

Eine gattungsgemäße Transportverpackung ist aus der FR-A-2498561 bekannt.A generic transport packaging is known from FR-A-2498561.

This transport packaging already overcomes the disadvantage of the previously known packaging, in which a relatively large amount of material had to be used due to a slip cover covering the lower part over a large area. The cover according to FR-A-2498561, which is produced from a single-layer blank, now essentially only covers the open side surfaces of a tray-like lower part. However, the lid attached to the lower part is difficult to grasp by hand to open the transport packaging and can be removed from the tray-like lower part to open the transport packaging.

A similar transport packaging consisting of a tray-like lower part which is open on the upper side and in the predominant area of its front side and a removable cover part which covers the open side areas of the lower part is also known from GB-A-2162819. With this transport packaging, the lid can be easily removed from the lower part, since it is only connected to it via a plug connection and is not glued.

The object of the invention is to enable simple and problem-free removal of the cover part in a generic transport packaging.

In the case of transport packaging of the type mentioned in the introduction, this object is achieved according to the invention in that when the transport packaging is open, the front side surface has a significantly lower height than the other side surfaces and that each of the four side surfaces has a hinged bottom flap and one side surface has an adhesive flap, and, that a tear-open tab is hinged to each side flap and the side flaps are only glued to the respective side surface at the level of the respective tear-open tab.

With the invention, a transport packaging made of corrugated cardboard is created, in which the cover part essentially covers only the open side surfaces of the lower part and is fastened to the side surfaces of the lower part by means of side flaps. As a result, the material requirement for the cover part is significantly reduced compared to the known prior art. Nevertheless, the transport packaging according to the invention has a high crush resistance and torsional stability, since the cover part is punched out of corrugated cardboard in the longitudinal direction of the corrugation and the cover front side can thus absorb the same compression load as the full-surface side parts of the lower part. The torsional stability and torsional rigidity of the transport packaging result from the fact that the cover part is glued to the respective side faces of the lower part via the hinged side flaps. To convert the transport packaging into a tray, the respective adhesive connection of the side flaps must be torn open by exerting a tensile force on the tear tabs. The cover part can then be removed. The fact that a tear tab is hinged to each side flap and the side flaps are only glued to the respective side flap at the level of the respective tear flap, ensures a clean, problem-free tearing of the adhesive connection and subsequent removal of the cover part.

Another advantage of the transport packaging according to the invention is that the side surface of the lower part opposite the front of the cover is not covered by a cover side surface. With the same dimensions of the lower part, the transport packaging according to the invention thus results in an outer dimension of the transport packaging in the longitudinal direction that is reduced by the size of the corrugated cardboard compared to a previously known transport packaging with slip lid. This leads to the fact that the transport packaging according to the invention can be filled with standardized (ISO dimensions) packaging and yet a full-surface, space-free loading of standardized transport pallets is possible.

In an embodiment, the invention provides that a region free of side flaps is formed adjacent to the transverse scoring on both longitudinal edges, the longitudinal extent of which corresponds at least to the width of the side flaps. This ensures that the side flaps do not abut or overlap when the cover part is raised.

Finally, for punching out the blank for the cover part from a larger web of corrugated cardboard, it is advantageous if opposite tear-open flaps are arranged offset from one another, as the invention provides in a further development. This is a material-saving Punching of several blanks is possible, in which case the longitudinal edges of the tear-open flaps lie against the longitudinal edges of the side flaps and the blanks can thus be punched adjacent to one another in a material-saving manner.

The transport packaging, designated overall by 1 in FIG. 1, consists of a lower part 2 and a cover part 3. As can be seen from FIG. 2, the lower part 2 consists of four side surfaces 4 - 7 that abut one another at right angles. Here, the front side surface is 4 and the rear side Side surface designated 5. A bottom flap is articulated to each of the four side surfaces 4-7, of which the bottom flaps 5a, 6a and 7a are shown in FIG. The bottom flaps are folded inwards to form a closed bottom surface and glued to one another, as is known from conventional shipping folding boxes. An adhesive flap 8 is articulated on the side face 6 and is glued to the side face 5 in the erected lower part shown in FIG. 2. The side surfaces 5-7 have the same height H. The front side surface 4 has a significantly lower height H 1. The lower part 2 is made of a one-piece blank of corrugated cardboard and erected. The lower part 2 is designed like a tray and on the top and in predominant area of its front open. To form the transport packaging 1, the lower part 2 is closed with the cover part 3, which is erected from the blank shown in FIG. 3. The blank designated 3a in FIG. 3 has, punched in the longitudinal direction of the wave shape, a lid top 9 with a lid front side 11 articulated thereon in a linear extension along a transverse groove 10. The course of the shafts 12 in the corrugated cardboard blank 3a is indicated in the region of the blank shown in broken lines denoted by X. Relatively narrow side flaps 17-20 are articulated on both sides of the longitudinal edges formed by longitudinal grooves 13-16 from the top side 9 of the lid and the front side 11 of the lid. At the outside of the cover part on the longitudinal edges of the side flaps 17 - 20, tear flaps 25 - 28 are articulated on the side flaps 17 - 20 along further grooves 21 - 24. Adjacent to the transverse creasing 10 are formed on both sides of the blank 3a between the respective side flaps 17 and 19 and 18 and 20 each side flap-free areas 29, 30, the longitudinal extent of which is somewhat larger than the width B 1 of the side flaps 17-20 Blank 3a, tear tabs 25, 26 and 27, 28 arranged opposite each other, are each offset from one another.

Die Breite B von Deckeloberseite 9 und Deckelvorderseite 11 entspricht der Breite B des Unterteiles 2. Die Länge L der Deckeloberseite 9 entspricht der Länge L des Unterteiles 2. Die Länge der Deckelvorderseite 11 entspricht der Höhe H des Unterteiles 2.The width B of the lid top 9 and lid front 11 corresponds to the width B of the lower part 2. The length L of the lid top 9 corresponds to the length L of the bottom part 2. The length of the lid front 11 corresponds to the height H of the bottom part 2.

To form the erected cover part 3 shown in FIG. 1, the cover top 9 and the cover front 11 are erected on the blank 3a along the transverse grooves 10 in a right-angled position with respect to one another and are along the Crease lines 13-16, the side flaps 17-20, also in a position at right angles to the lid top 9 or lid front 11, respectively. Before erecting, hot melt adhesive beads 31 or points are applied to the side flaps 17-20 at the level of the respective tear tabs 25-27. In such a prepared and erected state, the cover part 3, as can be seen from FIG. 1, is placed on the lower part 2. The adhesive beads 31 then bring about an adhesive connection of the side flaps 17-20 to the side surface of the lower part 2, against which they rest.

If the height H 1 of the front side 4 of the lower part 2 has, for example, a height of 7 cm, the blank on which the lower part 2 is based is to be used as a conventional shipping folding box in conventional packaging machines without special technical measures, to erect and to glue. For the width B₁ of the side flaps 17-20, it is sufficient if this is 2-4 cm.

The transport packaging 1 filled with product is delivered to the dealer in the state shown in FIG. 1. To remove the cover part 3, the tabs 25 and 26 are gripped and the side flaps 17 and 18 are torn open upward, so that the adhesive connection formed by the adhesive beads 31 is released. Then the tear tabs 27 and 28 are gripped by hand and the side flaps 19 and 20 are torn open to the front, so that the cover part 3 can then be completely removed from the lower part 2. The lower part 2 filled with the sales product is then set in the configuration shown in FIG. 2, for example in sales shelves.

Zur Bildung eines Verkaufstrays wird die Seitenfläche 32 - nach Entfernung des Deckelteils 3 - mit einem weiteren Handgriff abgerissen.FIG. 4 shows an alternative embodiment of a lower part 2, which differs only from the embodiment according to FIG. 2 in that a further, short side surface 32 is formed on the upper edge in the front. The side surface 32 is connected to the side surfaces 6 and 7 only via narrow bridges 33. This embodiment is advantageous if packaging or objects are filled into the lower part 2 which do not exert any supporting pressure on the side walls of the lower part. The side surface 32 then favors the secure bonding of the cover part 3 to the lower part 2. To form a sales tray, the side surface 32 is torn off with a further handle after the cover part 3 has been removed.
