Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a folded label of the type of a label booklet, which is stuck to an object provided with information and can be unfolded and read by the user.
Such labels are already known. For example, EP-PS 90,882 describes a folded label which has a self-adhesive composition on its back for firm, permanent bonding, but is otherwise simply folded up, this folded booklet being sealed with an adhesive strip (23). This tape is stuck to the front of the folded label booklet where the booklet would have to be opened. To open it, pull off the strip, then unfold and read the booklet, fold it up again and close it again with the adhesive strip. Although this label allows reversible opening and closing, it requires a separate adhesive strip that must be kept with the label open, possibly held in your hand, with due care, because it sticks, which may also be lost, is in any case a hindrance to the handling of the label.
Rather, a label booklet of a similar type is described, which is held closed in the folded state with an adhesive tape (19) which is arranged on the inner surface of the front side. The folded label is covered as a flap from the front, that is to say the uppermost side folded over the label, and is kept closed with adhesive tape on its underside. The user of this label is only dealing with one object and is free from the problem of having to handle a separate adhesive tape. But there is only one way to secure the folded label with adhesive. The individual pages are not secured among themselves, they like to stand up by themselves, according to their tendency to return to their original, unfolded state. These restoring forces and also the targeted folding, without letting the already folded parts move apart again, remind the inexperienced user of that Sisyphus, as he knows about it, from which the treacherous marble always unrolled again as soon as it was almost there. And even in the folded and taped state, such a multi-layer booklet has its disadvantages in that it threatens to burst open, individual layers start to protrude loosely from the side, and even the slightest force in the direction of opening the adhesive causes the whole thing to spring open and hang down unintentionally, for example appropriate touch when transporting an object equipped with it.
The object of the invention was to remedy this situation and to provide a folded label which Disadvantages of the prior art are avoided, but at least it is easier for the normal, inexperienced user to deal with them, and this label should also be economical to produce.
Accordingly, the invention relates to a label as characterized in more detail in claim 1 and the subclaims.
The self-adhesive for reversible bonding is preferably one which is applied in rotary screen printing in the form of dome-like adhesive sites, as is described in DE-OS 3,346,100. This has considerable advantages in manufacturing, but also advantages that are evident in the product itself and its handling. Thus, an additional printing process can be introduced into a printing line for printing corresponding label pre-material without technical problems, in which an adhesive emulsion with a high solids content, as described in the above DE-OS, is applied to predetermined areas of the label and dried. Since printing operations in the production of such labels are already familiar to the person skilled in the art, it is no problem for him to provide a further printing operation of this type also for the application of adhesive. It is a further advantage that this printing with adhesive can take place without substantial consideration of the other design of the print, it does not harm the label if the text or graphics are overprinted. With small adhesive domes and transparent adhesive, this is quite tolerable, unlike when attaching an adhesive tape or adhesive strip. And depending on the needs of the individual label, the adhesive areas can be chosen so that a problem-free folding almost like by can happen alone - the user is guided by the product to success, in that the folds formed not only readily form and lay flat on top of one another, but also show no tendencies to open again, bulge and block themselves. The user does not think like Laokoon, but rather, even inexperienced, he folds up as if by hand.
The folded label is not only held in one place, but its layers are reversibly secured and the whole structure makes an orderly, stable impression, which is retained even if the top should be lifted off unintentionally: the label now does not fall roughly apart, but still has its inner hold. Attached to a bottle or the like, that is to say to a vertical substrate, such a label according to the invention is advantageously arranged in such a way that the top side, that is to say the foremost sheet of the label, has to be opened upwards. Then, even if the foremost sheet is inadvertently lifted off, it is ensured that the label as a whole remains unchanged and folded cleanly on the substrate, quite differently from those of the prior art, which would then unfold on its own. This had to be avoided.
However, other compositions known in the prior art can also be used as self-adhesive compositions for reversible adhesive bonding, for example those according to DE-PS 2,417,312 and US Pat. No. 3,691,140 with adhesives based on a microsphere bead polymer.
Instead of rotary screen printing, the application method can also be sprayed on, using a spraying device as is commercially available. The adhesive is preferably the one described as preferred for screen printing.
As self-adhesive compositions for the back of the label, those with high adhesive strength are preferred, as are commercially available and are used in particular for labels to be permanently bonded. However, if it is desired in individual cases, the back of the label can also be equipped with a self-adhesive for reversible bonding, as described in more detail above.
A repulpable self-adhesive composition can also be arranged on the inside as well as on the back, with the advantages that can be achieved when recycling the label for paper production.
A further advantageous embodiment of a label according to the invention is one in which a further page of the label booklet is available for covering the folded label as a closing flap. This is explained in more detail, for example, with reference to FIG. 5.
It can also be advantageous to provide one or more of the folds with a perforated tear line. This is particularly suitable for folds that come to rest inside the folded label. Also, a tear line can only be hinted at, for example, to cut with scissors along this line. The torn or cut side can also be attached again and reversibly in the label. To do this is either a self-adhesive for reversible gluing is arranged on this side, as described above, or this side is in turn folded and placed in a fold of the label, in particular under the end flap. The adhesive on the inside of the end flap also keeps the label closed and also protects the inserted side from slipping out.
