Letzteres betätigt eine Schaltwalze, die durch das Betätigungsorgan aus ihrer Ruhestellung gedreht wird und hierdurch das Schließen und Öffnen des Kontaktes bewirkt. Die Schaltwalze ist hierbei in beide Richtungen drehbar. Dementsprechend sind auf mindestens zwei Seiten des Gehäuses Einführschlitze für das Betätigungsorgan vorgesehen, von denen einer je nach den baulichen Gegebenheiten benutzt wird. Bei der Verwendung derartiger Sicherheitsschalter in einer durch umherfliegende staub- oder spanförmige Teilchen wie Sägemehl o.dgl. belasteten Umgebung besteht jedoch die Gefahr, daß diese Teilchen durch den oder die Einführschlitze in das Gehäuse eindringen und dort Störungen verursachen bzw. die Einführschlitze zusetzen.
