- Steam ironing unit comprising an iron (1) equipped with a heated sole plate (2) with steam outlet holes (3), a steam generator (4) communicating with the said steam holes, an independent water reservoir (5), an electric pump (9) with a casing (10) and a movable device (11) for driving water between an inlet orifice (12) connected to the said water reservoir (5) and an outlet orifice (13) connected to the said steam generator (4), and a means (15) for treating the water, designed notably to demineralise it;
characterised in that the pump (9) affords free water circulation between the two inlet (12) and outlet (13) orifices at least while the driving device (11) is at rest. - Steam ironing unit according to Claim 1,
characterised in that the pump (9) is of the centrifugal type and the movable device (11) consists of a bladed wheel fixed to a drive shaft (19) and rotatably mounted in the casing (10) with at least one peripheral clearance (e). - Steam ironing unit according to Claim 2,
characterised in that, the pump (9) being of the vertical type with an immersed casing, the said casing (10) has a so-called degassing opening (21) in the area of the casing through which the drive shaft (19) of the bladed wheel (11) passes. - Steam ironing unit according to any one of the preceding claims,
characterised in that the water treatment means (15) is mounted in the pipe (14) between the steam generator (4) and the said pump (9). - Steam ironing unit according to Claim 4,
characterised in that the water treatment means (15) includes a cartridge comprising at least one filter (22) arranged at the water outlet and a water demineralisation product such as a resin. - Steam ironing unit according to any one of the preceding claims,
characterised in that the iron is equipped with a water atomisation device including a pump (24) whose outlet orifice is connected to a vaporisation nozzle (25) situated at the front of the iron and whose inlet orifice (26) is connected to the water pipe (14) by means of a connector (27) arranged downstream of the water treatment means. - Steam ironing unit according to Claim 6,
characterised in that the heated sole plate includes the steam generator, and the latter is equipped with a drop-by-drop delivery device comprising a small chamber (16) whose outlet orifice (17) is provided with an adjustable needle (18) and whose inlet orifice is connected by the pipe to the water treatment means (15). - Steam ironing unit according to Claim 7,
characterised in that the small chamber (16) and the connector (27) form part of a single moulded component. - Steam ironing unit according to any one of the preceding claims,
characterised in that the water pipe (14) connected to the steam generator (4) has a valve (30) whose opening allowing the passage of water is controlled by a thermal element (31) connected to the heated sole plate (2).
