Abstract

A board (1) with a postforming edge consists of a backing material such as, for example, chip fibre, solid wood, plywood, MDF or the like which carries on at least one surface a coating (2) of a relatively thin material, at least one end face (21) of the board being designed as a postforming edge which consists of at least two mutually dependent materials, namely the coating (2) and a coating backing (6, 22) which are together bent around the board end face, for example forming a radius, and are connected to this end face in a positive-locking manner. The mutual dependency is given firstly by a requisite rigidity and the cohesion during the cutting operations and secondly by adequate flexibility and thermal stressing capacity during the bending around the rounded edge of the board. The coating backing is made of a wooden material.

Description

The invention relates to a plate with a postforming edge according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

A plate with a so-called postforming edge has already become known in the embodiment that such a plate is provided with a plastic coating, which e.g. consists of a melamine laminate, in which coating several layers are bound in the lamination process by melamine resin and thus results in a relatively thin plastic coating of the plate.

As board material it is known to use a particle board or an MDF board or a plywood board.

It is also known to manufacture the postforming edge in such a way that e.g. a fold is milled from the top of the panel with a width of e.g. 45 mm and that in the area of this fold the material of the plate is removed to such an extent that one gets close to the coating glued to the underside.

This fold is milled so deep that only a thin coating surface, consisting of a layer of material and an underlying coating, remains on the underside of the plate.

A fillet is milled on the front edge of the fold in the transition area between the front edge of this fold and the material layer that has remained. Then the front edge is machined in the later desired radius of the postforming edge.

A hot-melt adhesive is then poured into the previously milled fillet, and the plastic material of the remaining material layer is deformed under pressure and heat, so that it is pulled over the radius end face of the fold and thereby a so-called postforming edge is achieved.

Previously, postforming edges could only be produced with plastic coatings, because these plastic coatings can withstand the high heat loads required for the deformation and because they have good surface resilience, which has the advantage that the production of the postforming edge was made possible without tearing the plastic material or other damage .

It was therefore possible to deform easily when using plastic materials to produce a postforming edge.

Until now, however, it was not known to design such a postforming edge with a wood material, because this wood material, e.g. a wood veneer, is very sensitive to the deformation of such a postforming edge.

For certain aesthetic reasons, however, it is desirable to design such postforming edges also from a wood material.

The invention is therefore based on the object of developing a plate of the type mentioned in such a way that a postforming edge can be formed with a wood-based material.

The invention is characterized by the technical teaching of claim 1.

An essential feature of the invention is that the plate is now coated with a wood-based material, or that in a second embodiment the plate already consists of a wood-based material as a whole (MDF chipboard, plywood plate or the like) and that for the first time such a wood-based material forms one Postforming edge can be reshaped.

As stated at the beginning, this method for producing a postforming edge was only known for plastic laminates, but not for wood-based materials. In the invention, the coating carrier is also milled in order to form this coating carrier together with the coating as a postforming edge.

According to the invention, however, such a postforming edge is formed from a wood material, as will be explained below.

Such a wood material can e.g. a wood veneer (peeled or knife veneer) or plywood. Likewise suitable as wood material is a coated wood, which consists of a decorative layer made of wood, which is glued to a carrier material made of tissue, paper, PVC, thin paper or the like.

As a third possibility, the present invention includes so-called MDF boards with a decorative coating, which consists of a paper or PVC material. According to the technical teaching of the innovation, a postforming edge is also formed here, the MDF board consisting of wood fibers being reshaped in accordance with the invention in connection with the decorative coating lying above it.

As the material for the panels that carry the various wood-based materials, a number of panel types come into consideration, all of which are encompassed by the inventive concept of the present invention.

The invention has thus recognized that for the production of postforming edges with real wood or the like arranged on the visible side, it is not sufficient to deform this real wood veneer alone because it is so thin and brittle that it would inevitably splinter and break. Instead, the invention proposes to deform a coating consisting of several layers, so that the thin and brittle real wood veneer is supported and stabilized and is now available can be deformed.

In particular, panels made of plywood material, MDF or chipboard are preferred. Here, embodiments fall under the inventive concept, which comprises that these plates either consist of a solid material, i.e. are filled as a continuous or that these plates form cavity structures, which contributes to a substantial saving in weight.

Such hollow structures essentially consist of strips which form a circumferential frame, this frame defining a central, central cavity, and this frame being covered on both sides (top and bottom) by the wood-based material.

The carrier materials mentioned, namely MDF, plywood or chipboard, can also be combined with one another. E.g. Sandwich constructions made of the most diverse materials mentioned above can be glued to the wood-based material according to the invention, in order then to form the postforming edge using the postforming method known per se.

The subject matter of the present invention results not only from the subject matter of the individual patent claims, but also from the combination of the individual patent claims with one another.

In Figure 1, a plate 1 is shown, which can consist of an MDF material, a chipboard material or a plywood material. The plate 1 has on its top 3 a coating 2, which is also attached to the bottom 4. The coatings 2 are e.g. thin film-like surfaces, which can be connected to the surface of the plate 1 in the lamination process.

According to FIG. 1, a fold 5 is first milled into the material of the plate 1 from the top 3 of the plate 1, the overlying coating 2 also being removed in this area.

According to FIG. 1, the fold depth of the fold 5 is now increased, so that the section that remains has only a thin material layer 6 and a coating 2 that forms the underside 4.

It is important that the material layer 6 is formed from the remaining material of the plate 1 in order to give the coating 2 on the underside 4 the mechanical stability necessary for the subsequent forming.

In the working process according to FIG. 1, in the area of the transition on the end face 21 of the fold 5 in the direction of the remaining material layer 6, a rounding 7 is formed, which is designed as a groove 13.

According to FIG. 1, this rounding 7 is deepened and enlarged by a groove cutter 8 which is subsequently moved up.

According to FIG. 1f, a fold 9 is then milled into the upper side 3, which has a depth that corresponds to the thickness of the material 2.6.

In Figure 1, the end face 21 of the fold 5 is machined and a radius 10 is formed in order to achieve the later shaping of the postforming edge.

According to FIG. 1, the front area of the material 2.6 is then cut off to its width in order to ensure that this cut edge is formed exactly in the area of the fold 9 and thus it leads to a smooth transition from the upper side 3 to the material 2.6 when the postforming edge is finished (see also FIG. 3).

Die Figur 2 zeigt die neuerungsgemässen Verhältnisse vergrössert im Schnitt.FIG. 2 shows an enlarged section of the conditions according to the innovation.

It can be seen that the material layer 6 is formed from the material of the plate 1 and supports the coating 2 during milling, and that a hot melt adhesive 14 has now been poured into the area of the groove 13 in order to ensure the smoothest possible transition in this area guarantee.

It is now important that the coating carrier 6 consists of a wood material, as was defined in the manner above. This means that it is a wood veneer (peeled or knife veneer), chipboard, hardboard, plywood or MDF. If the outer layer 2 consists of a wood veneer, then the coating carrier 6 is part of the plate 1 and can additionally be stabilized with paper, Tissue, etc.

The material layer 2, 6 produced in this way is bent in the direction of the arrow 15 in accordance with FIG. 2, pressure and heat being used in order to ensure that this material is fully and wrinkle-free against the rounded end face 21 of the plate 1.

At the same time, a glue is applied to the inside of the material layer 6 in order to ensure adherence to the rounded end face 21.

According to FIG. 3, the material is now bent over and thus forms the postforming edge according to the invention, which is now formed for the first time from a composite of a wood material with any top layer.

This was not possible before because either the wood material or the coating as such is so sensitive to processing that so far only laminates could be processed.

In order to tear the wood material when spreading e.g. To prevent in the transition from FIG. 1b to FIG. 1, it is provided according to the invention that the coating 2 is sucked onto the processing table by applying a vacuum in order to stabilize this coating surface.

In this way it is possible to keep the thickness of the material layer 6 very small, e.g. in the range of 0.1 to about 1 mm.

Die Figur 4 zeigt eine erfindungsgemässen Aufbau einer Platte, wobei wesentlich ist, daß aus Gewichtsersparnisgründen diese Platte als Hohlplatte ausgebildet ist.FIG. 4 shows a construction of a plate according to the invention, it being essential that this plate is designed as a hollow plate for reasons of weight saving.

It can be seen that the coating 2 consists of a very thin decorative paper, which e.g. is printed with a wood grain, a solid color or any other color. This coating 2 is glued to a veneer layer 17, this veneer layer 17 e.g. can consist of a three-layer plywood material. In another embodiment, instead of the veneer layer 17, this can consist of an MDF material or of a thin chipboard or hardboard.

Im Ausführungsbeispiel nach Figur 4 besteht die Furnierschicht 17 aus drei abgesperrt zueinander verleimten Schichten 22,23,24.In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 4, the veneer layer 17 consists of three layers 22, 23, 24 glued shut off to one another.

It is now important that the veneer layer 17 is thinned so that only the cover layer 22, which is directly adjacent to the thin coating 2, runs around the postforming edge 16, while all other layers 23, 24 in the area of the upper side 3 of plate 1 remain.

The very thin coating 2 is thus only supported by the cover layer 22 and is thereby stabilized in the area of the postforming edge 16.

It is a hollow construction that consists of a frame-shaped structure, the frame consisting of strips 19, 20. In the exemplary embodiment shown, it is shown that two strips 19, 20 have been glued to one another and that the outer strip 20 has the machined end face 21 in each case.

In another embodiment, the strip 19, 20 may consist of a single piece.

It is important that the strips 19, 20 form a frame-like structure, forming a central cavity 18, so as to greatly reduce the weight of the entire plate.

This makes it possible for the first time to use panels coated with wood-based materials, which have postforming edges made from the same wood-based material, in leisure furniture construction, where great weight savings are important.

For the sake of drawing simplicity, the upper part of the plate is now shown in FIG. 4, the plate being able to be continued beyond the line of symmetry. According to FIG. 4, either an L-shaped postforming edge is then formed or a U-shaped postforming edge is formed, as is shown in FIG. 3.
