Durch die erhöhte Luftgeschwindigkeit im Bereich der Querschnittsverengung wird hinter der Querschnittsverengung ein Unterdruck erzeugt, durch den Raumluft durch die Lufteinlaßöffnung (EN) in die Vorrichtung eingesaugt wird, so daß der erwärmte oder gekühlte Luftstrom hinter dem Wärmetauscher sehr früh mit Raumluft vermischt wird. Dies führt zu einer Veränderung der Luftstrahltemperatur und zu einer Erhöhung der Luftaustrittsgeschwindigkeit und damit zu einer erhöhten Raumdurchspülung und einer Reduzierung der Thermik. In Strömungsrichtung vor den Lufteinlaßöffnungen besteht eine Querschnittsverengung Q, die den vom Wärmetauscher 6 kommenden Luftstrom einengt und damit die Strömungsgeschwindigkeit erhöht. Da direkt hinter dieser Querschnittsverengung Q die Lufteinlaßöffnungen sich befinden, führt der durch die Querschnittsverengung erzeugte Unterdruck zu einem Ansaugen von Raumluft durch die Lufteinlaßöffnungen 9, so daß durch die Öffnungen 9 Raumluft in den Hauptluftstrom der Vorrichtung eingemischt wird und im vermischten Zustand aus dem Luftauslaß 7 austritt. Die Querschnittsverengung Q wird im Ausführungsbeispiel durch jeweils ein festes Leitblech 10 gebildet, das seitlich an der Gehäusewand 1 nahe der Öffnung 9 befestigt ist und mit einer Neigung von 30 bis 60 Grad, insbesondere von 45 Grad in das Innere des Gehäuses und damit in den Hauptluftstrom hineinragt. Statt eines starren oder beweglichen Leitblechs 10 als Flächenteil kann aber auch ein Hohl- körper oder Profil die Querschnittsverengung an dieser Stelle bilden.
