Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and a device for lubricating the valve stem guide of internal combustion engines.
- valve stem guide With the intake and exhaust valves in the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, the primary function of the valve stem guide is to guide the valve so that when it closes, it sits on the valve seat without radial movement.
- the valve stem guide means that lateral forces have to be absorbed by the rocker arm movement and the exhaust gas flow.
- valve stem guide which is transferred to the valve during combustion by the hot exhaust gases.
- the high temperatures that occur make it difficult to lubricate the valve stem guide.
- this takes place from the rocker arm side by means of spray oil which is transported into the guide by the stroke movement of the valve. Since excess lubricating oil gets into the fuel inlet or exhaust gas duct on the underside of the guide, the lubricating oil supply must be dosed as precisely as possible with regard to oil consumption and emissions. This dosing is done empirically through the detailed design of the gap between the valve stem and guide.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of providing a method of the type mentioned at the outset with which the lubrication of the valve stem guide is optimized with justifiable expenditure and without negative effects on oil consumption and emission values.
- the measure according to the invention improves the lubrication of the valve stem guide without more lubricating oil in the exhaust gas or.
- Inlet channel arrives.
- the area of the valve guide below the relief groove serves to seal the valve guide against the high exhaust gas pressure or against the inlet duct.
- the upper region of the valve guide on the crankcase side is relieved of pressure, so that there is only a small differential pressure here, which does not impede lubrication.
- the lubricating oil is pressed in via a second annular groove designed as a lubricating groove.
- the lubrication groove can preferably be connected via a bore to the pressure side of the lubricating oil system of the engine. This ensures optimal lubrication in the long term, regardless of the operating state of the engine.
- the relief groove is connected to the crankcase via a longitudinal groove. This allows both exhaust gas entering and lubricating oil entering the relief groove to be discharged into the crankcase. As a result, the supply of lubricating oil does not have to be limited out of consideration for oil consumption and emissions.
- the invention extends to a valve guide for carrying out the method, which is characterized by the features of claims 3 to 5.
- the measures according to the invention are suitable for exhaust valves of internal combustion engines of all types, in particular for exhaust valves of supercharged gas engines.
- the measures are also suitable for intake valves if there is excess pressure in the intake duct.
- a first groove designed as a relief groove 11 is provided in the valve guide 1, which divides the valve guide 1 into a lower area 1 on the valve seat side and an upper area 1 on the crank chamber side.
- the lower area 1 a in the guide 1 serves to seal the oil-lubricated upper guide part 1 against the ingress of exhaust gas from the exhaust gas duct 4. Any exhaust gas that enters through a very small gap between the guide 1 and the valve stem then enters the relief groove 11, which has a Longitudinal groove 13 is connected to the crank chamber 5 so that the penetrating exhaust gas can get into the crank chamber 5.
- the upper region 1 of the valve guide is therefore unaffected by the exhaust gas and its pressure. This allows a safe introduction of lubricating oil into the guide area between the valve stem and the guide.
- the lubricating oil can reach the guide gap in the upper valve guide area 1 in a conventional manner via the crank chamber 5. Improved lubrication is achieved, however, with forced lubrication, which passes through oil holes 15 into a second annular groove designed as a lubricating groove 14 under pressure.
- the lubricating oil pushed up and down by the movement of the valve 2 will reach the crank chamber 5 directly at the upper end and at the lower end of the upper region 1 via the relief groove 11 and the longitudinal channel 13. This not only ensures good lubrication, but also prevents lubricating oil from getting into the exhaust duct 4 or, in the case of an intake valve, into the intake duct.

Abstract
