Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an ink cartridge for a fountain pen comprising a pen body capable of being screwed onto a section block provided with a nib, an ink conduit and a support surface surrounding the ink conduit and against which the cartridge is intended to rest, the pen body and the section block delimiting, when they are screwed one on the other, an internal housing of predetermined length capable of receiving the ink cartridge, which is of the type comprising a tubular body of rigid plastic material having a first end provided with a cylindrical flange whose diameter is less than the diameter of the tubular body but greater than the diameter of the ink conduit and a cover sealing the cylindrical collar and located at a distance from the free end of said collar which is less than the distance separating the internal bearing surface from the free end of the ink duct, said cover ule being capable of being opened by the ink conduit during the screwing of the pen body and the section block, and a second end closed by a non-removable plug comprising an external cylindrical part and a transverse bottom delimiting with the external
  • the present invention more particularly proposes to remedy the above drawbacks and, to do this, it relates to an ink cartridge which is characterized in that its total length is greater than the predetermined length of the internal housing of the fountain pen , in that the stopper is made of flexible plastic material so that the total length of the cartridge becomes equal to the predetermined length when the pen body and the section block are screwed fully onto one another, in what its tubular body is made by molding, in that the cover is constituted by a ball and in that the depth of the cavity of the irremovable plug remains greater than the distance separating the bearing surface from the free end of the ink conduit after the screwing of the body pen and section block one on top of the other.
  • This cartridge can be used in the vast majority of current fountain pens. Since its cap is flexible, it can indeed easily deform during the screwing of the pen body and the section block and absorb the difference in length between the cartridge and the internal housing of the fountain pen so that this screwing can always be carried out. thoroughly.
  • the present invention therefore makes it possible to manufacture only one type of cartridge for several models of fountain pens, which reduces production and management costs appreciably.
  • the cover of the cartridge according to the invention is particularly easy to produce and install and also contributes to reducing production costs.
  • the cover 2 consists of a glass ball held in position by tightening at the base of a cylindrical collar 5 whose diameter is less than that of the tubular body 1 and which is connected to the latter by a frustoconical part 6.
  • the distance between the ball and the free end of the flange 5 is designated by l1.
  • the plug 3 As for the plug 3, it comprises an internal cylindrical part 7 inserted in the tubular body 1, an external cylindrical part 8 and a transverse bottom 9 delimiting with the latter a cavity having a depth designated by l2. It is made of flexible plastic and is fixed to the body 1 definitively by welding, for example by ultrasound.
  • the cartridge which has just been described, and the total length of which is designated by l3, is intended to be inserted in a fountain pen such as that shown in FIGS. 2 and 3.
  • the fountain pen comprises in a manner known per se a pen body 10 having an internal bearing surface 11 located at a certain distance from its bottom, as well as a screwed section block 12 on the pen body 10, this section block comprising a nib 13, an ink duct 14 and an internal bearing surface 15 surrounding the ink duct 14.
  • the length of the ink duct 14 is greater than the distance l1 separating the ball 2 from the free end of the collar 5 of the cartridge, but less than the depth l2 of the cavity of the plug 3 of said cartridge .
  • the pen body 10 and the section block 12 delimit between them, when they are fully screwed (as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3) an internal housing 16 whose length l4 is slightly less than the length l3 cartridge.
  • the cartridge is shown in the reserve position.
  • the free end of the collar 5 is applied against the bearing surface 11 of the pen body 10 while the free end of the external part 8 of the cap 3 is applied against the bearing surface 15 of the block section 12, the ink duct 14 advancing in the cavity of the plug 3 without reaching the bottom 9.
  • FIG. 3 the cartridge is shown in the use position.
  • the free end of the external part 8 of the plug 3 is applied against the bearing surface 11 of the pen body 10 while the free end of the flange 5 is applied against the bearing surface 15 of the block section 12, the ink duct 14 having pushed the ball 2 inside the cartridge and allowing the ink 4 to reach the pen 13.
  • the distance separates the internal bearing surface 15 from the the free end of the ink duct 14 is designated by l5 in FIG. 2.
  • the present invention makes it possible to use the same cartridge in fountain pens of different models. It suffices in fact that the length l3 of the cartridge according to the invention is slightly greater than the length l4 of the internal housing 16 of these fountain pens.
  • the ball 2 constitutes a cheap and easy-to-install cover, and that it can be pushed effortlessly into the cartridge by the ink conduit 14 when the pen body 10 is screwed and block section 12.
