Abstract

The invention relates to an angular strip (1) for isolating or separating floor and wall coverings, especially made of ceramic material, having a fastening leg (2), which is a maximum of 2.0 mm in thickness and has perforations, and an isolating leg (4), which is a maximum of 2.5 mm in thickness and extends at right angles to the fastening leg. In order to ensure that such an angular strip (1) is universally usable, requires relatively little material and nevertheless withstands even high stresses, as may occur especially in the case of industrial floors with floor conveyors, the free end of the isolating leg (4) is adjoined by a further angular strip of approximately the same thickness for the formation of a U-profile part (6) open to the fastening surface. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to an angled rail for closing or separating floor and wall coverings made in particular of ceramic material with a perforation, maximum 2.0 mm thick fastening leg and a perpendicular, maximum 2.5 mm thick end leg.

Such an angle profile rail is known from DE-OS 25 53 185, in which the shorter end leg, which corresponds to the height of ceramic plates including adhesive or mortar layer, is formed several times stronger than the fastening leg. The wide design of the end leg should absorb high forces on the one hand and on the other hand give the end a good visual appearance. A disadvantage of such an angle profile rail is that relatively much material is used for the relatively wide design of the end leg, and in particular expensive material is used for brass rails.

In order to reduce the cost of materials, an angular profile rail has become known from DE-PS 31 21 823, in which the one running approximately at right angles to the fastening leg End leg has about the same thickness as the fastening leg. At the free end of the end leg, however, an inward widening, approximately rectangular in cross section, is provided. Due to the reduced wall thickness of the end leg, however, the possible stress is reduced, since there is a risk that the end leg may buckle under heavy vertical loads, as occurs, for example, in industrial floors with industrial truck traffic.

The known angle profile rails are mainly suitable for laying ceramic floor coverings in the so-called thin-bed process, in which the connecting adhesive or mortar layer has only a relatively small thickness. However, they are not used as the actual joint profile, as a so-called border or as a connection profile for a floor covering made of ceramic plates.

The invention is therefore based on the object to provide an angular rail for closing or separating floor and wall coverings made of, in particular, ceramic material, which can be used universally, requires relatively little material and nevertheless also high stresses, such as can occur in particular in industrial floors with industrial transport withstands.

To solve this problem it is proposed according to the invention in an angular profile of the type described in the introduction that a further angular profile of approximately the same thickness connects to the free end of the end leg to form an open U-profile part for the fastening surface.

The low thickness of the end leg and the subsequent angular profile leads to a reduction in material and thus to a saving in material and costs. Due to the formation of the U-profile part, which is open downwards to the fastening surface, this angle profile rail also withstands such stresses as can occur in industrial floors with industrial truck traffic. The angle profile rail according to the invention can be used as a joint profile rail, corner and edge protection profile rail, connection profile rail on already existing coverings, borders, edge protection for expansion joints and for forming so-called mat frames. The particularly wide design of the upper region of the end leg enables good optical formation of joints. The angle profile rail according to the invention can, if necessary, be made of metal, in particular brass or aluminum, or of plastic. If the angle profile rail is made of plastic, it is used only for optical closure and separation. A large load is then not possible.

Further features of an angle profile rail according to the invention are disclosed in claims 2-6.

The angle profile rail 1 shown in FIG. 1 of the drawing is made of metal, for example brass, and initially consists of a fastening leg 2 with a wall thickness of less than 2 mm, preferably 1.0-1.5 mm. Depending on the profile cross section, this fastening leg 2 has a width of approximately 13-30 mm and is provided with openings 3, as can be seen in FIG. 3. These breakthroughs penetrate the adhesive or mortar when laying ceramic plates and thus when fastening the angle profile rail 1.

At right angles to the fastening leg 2 there is an end leg 4 which, in the illustration, is considerably shorter or narrower than the fastening leg and here, however, has the same wall thickness as the fastening leg 2, but can also be made thicker.

At the free end of the end leg 4 there is another angle section 5, which in the illustrated embodiment also has the same wall thickness as the fastening leg 2 and thus also has the end leg 4. If necessary, the fastening leg 2 can also be made thinner than the end leg 4 and the angle section 5. This angle profile 5 connects to the end leg 4 of the angle profile rail 1 in such a way that it forms, together with the end leg 4, a U-profile part 6 which is open towards the bottom or towards the fastening surface. One leg of the angle profile 5 runs parallel to the mounting leg 2 of the angle profile rail 1 and forms the so-called web 7 of the U-profile part 6. The other leg of the angle profile 5 runs at a distance from the end leg 4 of the angle profile rail 1 and forms together with the end leg 4 each a leg 8 of the U-profile part 6.

When this angle profile rail 1 is arranged, at least part of the chamber formed by the U-profile part 6 is filled with adhesive or mortar. The leg 8 gives the U-profile part 6, which could also be referred to in its entirety as an end leg, a particularly high stability.

The angle rail 1 shown in FIG. 2 largely corresponds in its design to the angle rail 1 of FIG. 1. The difference here is that the free end of the leg 8 of the U-profile part 6 is followed by an inward widening 9, which also has the same wall thickness as the fastening leg 2 and runs with the same in one plane. Through this widening 9, the contact surface of the leg 8 of the U-profile part 6 is considerably increased and thus the surface pressure on the mounting surface is reduced while the load remains the same. The result of this is that the angle rail 1 can absorb higher loads in the area of the U-profile part 6.

According to the illustration in FIG. 3, three angle profile rails 1 meet according to FIGS. 1 or 2 to form an outside corner at right angles. The two upper angle rails 1 are mitred at their contact surfaces. This arrangement results in a particularly stable formation of spatial corners, for example in the case of steps or the like.

In a change of the representations according to FIGS. 1 and 2, it is possible to slightly round off the corners between the end leg 4 and the web 7 and between the web 7 and the leg 8 of the U-profile part 6. If necessary, inside Area between the fastening leg 2 and the end leg 4, a small groove can be formed. While in the representations of FIGS. 1 and 2 of the leg 7 is completely flat and runs parallel to the fastening leg 2, it is possible to slightly arch the leg 7 of the U-profile part 6 to the outside. This enables the use of such an angle rail 1 as a border or the like. In this curved configuration of the web 7, the corners can be either sharp-edged or slightly rounded on the one hand between the end leg 4 and the web 7 and on the other hand between the web 7 and the leg 8 of the U-profile part 6.

Furthermore, it is possible to make the widening 9 on the leg 8 so wide that it extends to the end leg 4. If necessary, this widening can then be connected to the end leg 4 or be formed in one piece, so that a self-contained profile is created.
