Abstract

The invention relates to a glazed fire door (1), in particular for use inside a fireproof glazing for avoiding the passage of fire and smoke during a fire from one room into another, with at least one fireproof plate (2a, 2b) which contains a foaming agent as protective active ingredient and which is held by a pivotable door frame (7) which has a door profile (8) which is arranged on a perpendicular end surface of the fireproof plate and which, with the glazed door (1) closed, bears via seals (9) against a stationary frame profile (10). In order to produce a simply constructed glazed door (1), the structural parts of which require no additional fireproofing measures, such as for example insulation of the supporting construction, and to reduce the possible heat bridges to a minimum, it is proposed with the invention that the door profile (8) of the door frame (7) is designed as a flat profile which the adjacent abutting surface (13b) of the fireproof plate (2a) adjoins without insulation, forming a narrow gap (14), and that, in the event of fire, the gap (14) is sealed by the foaming agent of the fireproof plate (2b) in a fireproof and smokeproof manner and with simultaneous cooling of the adjoining part of the door profile (8). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a glass door for fire protection purposes, in particular for use within a fire protection glazing to prevent the passage of fire and smoke in the event of a fire from one room to another, with at least one fire protection pane containing a foaming agent as a protective agent, which is held by a pivotable door frame, which has a door profile which is arranged on a vertical end face of the fire protection pane and which, when the glass door is closed, lies against a fixed frame profile via seals.

Fire-resistant glazing is translucent components that are designed not only to prevent the spread of fire and smoke, but also to prevent the inadmissible transfer of heat, depending on their fire resistance. Fire protection glazing is divided into different fire resistance classes, the respective requirements of which are explained in DIN 4102.

A known fire protection glazing has fire protection panes which are constructed in multiple layers from glass panes with a fire protection layer arranged in between. In the event of a fire, the fire protection layer is activated. they absorbs heat radiation and forms a highly effective insulation layer. The originally transparent glazing creates a practically opaque fire protection wall.

Since in most cases fire protection glazing must have at least one door opening, glass doors have been developed which are matched to the fire protection glazing as a whole with regard to its fire protection properties.

A known glass door for fire protection purposes has a steel frame construction which surrounds the inserted fire protection pane on all sides and is hinged to a door frame. The steel frame construction consists of an approximately 60mm wide steel hollow profile, on the inner edge of which the fire protection pane is attached via glass retaining strips. At the outer edge of the hollow steel profile, a further, but narrower designed hollow steel profile is fastened, which is provided with an angled portion which, when the glass door is closed, bears against an appropriately designed hollow steel profile of the door frame by means of an intermediate seal.

The disadvantage of this known glass door is that it is constructed in a very complex manner. For both the hinge side and the lock side, the glass door has a total of four hollow steel profiles, taking into account the glass retaining strips designed as steel tubes.

Another disadvantage is that the cross sections of the hollow steel profiles form thermal bridges in the event of fire, so that with regard to the fire protection properties in the frame area Such a glass door compromises the fire protection behavior of the other fire protection glazing. A glass door is therefore always the weakest component within the fire protection glazing system.

In order to remedy this problem, another known glass door for fire protection uses a two-part steel frame construction in which the space between the two steel frames is filled by a strip made of non-combustible or flame-retardant material. In this way, the heat transfer through the steel frame construction is significantly reduced. A disadvantage of this known glass door, however, is that in order to ensure the required mechanical stability, the frame halves located on both sides of the fire protection window and the strip must be welded or screwed together.

The invention has for its object to avoid the disadvantages of the prior art described to create a simply constructed glass door for fire protection purposes, the components of which do not require additional fire protection measures, such as the insulation of the load-bearing structure. Nevertheless, the possible thermal bridges should be reduced to a minimum.

To solve this problem, it is proposed that the door profile of the door frame is designed as a flat profile, to which the adjacent abutting surface of the fire protection window is adjacent, forming a narrow joint without insulation, and that in the event of a fire, the foam is made fire-proof and smoke-tight by the foaming agent of the fire protection window and under simultaneous cooling of the adjacent part of the door profile is closed.

The invention is based on the finding that even without additional insulation measures in the form of strips or strips of non-combustible or flame-retardant material, flames and smoke do not penetrate the abutting surfaces of the fire shield in the event of a fire. So far it has been assumed that the abutting surfaces of the fire protection panes represent a weak point of fire protection glazing, since in the event of fire they represent the easiest way for the flames, smoke and heat to penetrate fire protection glazing or a glass door for fire protection purposes. Experiments have shown, however, that in cases where a residual joint remains on the butt surfaces of the fire protection window, the fire protection agent between the individual glass layers emerges in the form of a foam from the end face of the fire protection window and seals the joint tightly in the form of foam.

This joint closure not only means that flames and smoke can no longer penetrate through the glass door, but also leads to local cooling of the flat profile opposite the joint surface, forming the joint. However, since in the glass door according to the invention the flat profile is the only possible thermal bridge, its cooling by the foam emerging from the fire protection window leads to a significant reduction in the heat transfer at the edge of the glass door for a certain period of time and thus to improved fire protection properties of the glass door. In this context, not only a completely flat, i.e. just designed profile can be understood, but a profile that, for example, also as a hollow profile, is designed so narrow that in the event of fire, the cooling effect reliably occurs through the escaping foam.

The above-mentioned advantages are achieved without additional insulation measures in the form of strips or strips of non-combustible or flame-retardant material inserted within the steel frame. An external insulation of the profiles is also not necessary since, in contrast to the prior art, no large-area hollow steel profiles are used, but flat profiles, which offer the heat only a small area of attack and thus heat transfer.

The glass door, which can have one or two leaves, undergoes a further development in that the frame profile is also designed as a flat profile, to which the butt surface of a further fire protection pane is adjacent, forming a corresponding joint. This achieves the advantage of a significant reduction in the effective thermal bridges not only in the area of the frame, but also in the door frame of the glass door.

A particularly stable and elegant glass door for fire protection purposes is achieved by connecting a strip-shaped joint cover to the door profile on one or both sides. The joint cover can be designed, for example, as a hollow steel profile, which can easily be painted to adapt to the respective environment. Surface treatment is also possible.

A further development of the glass door has a bend formed on the door profile and connected to the hinge. In this way, the bend is formed on the component that also requires a special adjustment in other respects, for example with regard to door seals and other fitting parts. As a result, the joint covers can be kept free of fittings, which means that they can be designed in a uniform manner, which in turn benefits the optical appearance of the glass door.

An embodiment of a glass door according to the invention for fire protection purposes is described below with reference to the drawing. The drawing shows in an abbreviated form a glass door as part of fire protection glazing.

The glass door 1 shown in the drawing is part of a fire protection glazing, of which two fire protection panes 2a are shown in the drawing. The flat sides of the fire protection panes 2a are provided in the region of their edge with hollow profiles 3 which form the outer frame of the respective fire protection panes 2a. In the gaps between the edges of the fire protection panes 2a and the inner surfaces of the hollow profiles 3 there are elastocellular strips 4, these gaps additionally being sealed in the direction of the center of the pane with a sealing compound 5 made of silicone rubber.

The glass door 1, which is pivotably mounted on the fire protection glazing via a hinge 6, also consists of a fire protection pane 2b, which is held at its edges in the manner already described at its edges by a door frame 7, which is composed of the hollow profiles 3 and a door profile 8 on the end face of the fire protection pane 2b composed. A door handle 8a for actuating a locking mechanism (not shown) is attached to the hollow profiles 3 opposite the hinge side.

The fire protection panes 2a, 2b consist of a special laminated glass, which consists of several glass panes with fire protection layers arranged between them. In the event of a fire, these fire protection layers are activated, whereby they absorb heat radiation and thus form an effective insulation layer that prevents the passage of fire and smoke. The activation of the fire protection layers in the event of fire causes them to foam up and become cloudy, so that practically an opaque fire protection wall is created.

To hold the glass door 1 within the fire protection glazing, the glass door 1 is provided on its vertical edges with the door profile 8, which is on the end faces the hollow profile 3 of the glass door 1 is fastened and together with the corresponding two hollow profiles 3 forms the door frame 7 of the glass door. When the glass door 1 is closed, the door profiles 8 abut seals 9 on likewise flat frame profiles 10, which are fastened to corresponding end faces of the hollow profiles 3 of the fire protection glazing. The door profiles 8 of the door frame 7 and the frame profiles 10 are designed as flat profiles; However, this does not rule out that both profiles have bends 11, 12, the bends 11 serving for sealing contact of the glass door 1 in the closed state, while the bend 12 establishes the connection between one of the door profiles 8 and the hinge 6 designed as a hinge 6 .

In the drawing it is shown that between the respective fire protection panes 2a, 2b facing surfaces of the door profiles 8 or the frame profiles 10 and the adjacent abutting surfaces 13a or 13b of the fire protection panes 2a or 2b, a joint 14 with a joint width f of at most 6mm remains . In the exemplary embodiment, the joint width f of the joint 14 is less than 4 mm. For this purpose, the flat frame profiles 10 and door profiles 8 in the area of the abutting surfaces 13a and 13b are slightly recessed in the direction of the respective pane.

In the event of a fire, the fire protection layer located therein is foamed as a result of the heating of the fire protection panes 2a, 2b, the material of this foam emerging from the abutting surfaces 13a, 13b of the fire protection panes 2a, 2b and closing the joints 14, so that flames and smoke no longer pass through the joints 14 can get through. In addition, the foam emerging from the abutting surfaces 13a, 13b cools the adjacent frame profile 10 or door profile 8, so that the transfer of heat via the frame profiles 10 or door profiles 8 is made more difficult. Due to the described mode of operation of the fire protection panes 2a, 2b not only prevents the passage of flames and smoke through the joints 14, but also reduces the construction-related effect of the frame profiles 10 and door profiles 8 as thermal bridges to a minimum. This advantage of cooling the frame profiles 10 or door profiles 8 is achieved in that these profiles are made sufficiently flat so that the cooling effect of the foam emerging from the abutting surfaces 13a, 13b covers the entire cross-section of the frame profiles 10 and 10 that is considered as a potential thermal bridge Door profiles 8 detected. In the depression of the frame profile 10, a strip 15 made of foaming material in the event of a fire is attached. As a result, the space between door profile 8 and frame profile 10 is closed in the event of a fire.

Since the optical structure of the glass door 1 in the glass part having the fire protection pane 2b and in the edge part covered with the hollow profiles 3 matches the corresponding structure of the other areas of the fire protection glazing, the overall result is a uniform visual impression of the fire protection glazing. In particular, the glass door 1, due to the narrow door profiles 8 and frame profiles 10, gives the impression of lightness and thus clearly stands out from the known glass doors, which generally have voluminous frame structures.
