The invention relates to a glass door for fire protection purposes, in particular for use within fire protection glazing to prevent the passage of fire and smoke in the event of a fire from one room into another, with at least one fire protection pane containing a foaming agent as a protective agent, which is held by a pivotable door frame which has a door profile arranged on a vertical front surface of the fire protection pane, which, when the glass door is closed, rests against a fixed frame profile via seals.
Fire-resistant glazing is a translucent component designed to prevent not only the spread of fire and smoke, but also the impermissible transfer of heat, depending on its fire resistance. Fire-resistant glazing is divided into various fire resistance classes, the respective requirements of which are explained in DIM />. &igr;&ogr;2.
SieA well-known fire-resistant glazing has fire protection panes, which are made up of multiple layers of glass with a fire protection layer in between. In the event of a fire, the fire protection layer is activated. It
Aus der ursprünglich transparenten Verglasung entsteht dabei eine praktisch undurchsichtige Feuerschutzwand.absorbs the heat radiation and forms a highly effective insulating layer. The originally transparent glazing is transformed into a practically opaque fire protection wall.
Since in most cases fire-resistant glazing must have at least one door opening, glass doors have been developed whose fire-resistant properties are tailored to the fire-resistant glazing as a whole.
A well-known glass door for fire protection purposes has a steel frame construction that encloses the inserted fire protection pane on all sides and is hinged to a door frame. The steel frame construction consists of a hollow steel profile about 60 mm wide, to the inner edge of which the fire protection pane is attached via glass retaining strips. Another, narrower hollow steel profile is attached to the outer edge of the hollow steel profile, which is provided with an angled section that, when the glass door is closed, rests against a correspondingly designed hollow steel profile on the door frame by means of a seal in between.
The disadvantage of this well-known glass door is that it is very complex in its construction. This is because the glass door has a total of four hollow steel profiles on both the hinge and lock sides, taking into account the glass retaining strips designed as steel tubes.
Nachteilig ist weiterhin, daß die Querschnitte der Stahlhohlprofile im Brandfall Wärmebrücken bilden, so daß hinsichtlich der brandschutztechnischen Eigenschaften im RahmenbereichAnother disadvantage is that the cross-sections of the hollow steel profiles form thermal bridges in the event of a fire, so that the fire protection properties in the frame area
Innerhalb des Systems Brandschutzverglasung stellt daher eine Glastür immer das schwächste Bauteil dar.a glass door of this type has to compromise on the fire protection properties of the rest of the fire-resistant glazing. Within the fire-resistant glazing system, a glass door is therefore always the weakest component.
To remedy this problem, another well-known glass door for fire protection purposes uses a two-part steel frame construction, in which the space between the two steel frames is filled with a strip made of non-flammable or flame-retardant material. In this way, the heat transfer through the steel frame construction is significantly reduced. The disadvantage of this well-known glass door, however, is that in order to ensure the necessary mechanical stability, the frame halves on both sides of the fire protection pane and the strip must be welded or screwed together.
The invention is based on the object of creating a simply constructed glass door for fire protection purposes, while avoiding the described disadvantages of the prior art, the components of which do not require any additional fire protection measures, such as the insulation of the supporting structure. At the same time, the possible thermal bridges should be reduced to a minimum.
To solve this problem, it is proposed that the door profile of the door frame is designed as a flat profile, to which the adjacent butt surface of the fire protection pane adjoins, forming a narrow gap without insulation, and that in the event of a fire, the gap is sealed by the foaming agent of the fire protection pane in a fire- and smoke-tight manner while simultaneously cooling the adjacent part of the door profile.
The invention is based on the knowledge that even without additional insulation measures in the form of strips or bars made of non-flammable or flame-retardant material, flames and smoke do not penetrate the abutting surfaces of the fire protection pane in the event of a fire. Until now it has been assumed that the abutting surfaces of the fire protection panes represent a weak point in fire protection glazing, since in the event of a fire they represent the easiest way for flames, smoke and heat to penetrate fire protection glazing or a glass door for fire protection purposes. However, tests have shown that in cases where a residual gap remains on the abutting surfaces of the fire protection pane, when exposed to high heat, the fire protection agent between the individual glass layers emanates in the form of foam from the front abutting surface of the fire protection pane and seals the gap tightly.
This joint closure not only means that flames and smoke can no longer penetrate the glass door, but also leads to a local cooling of the flat profile opposite the impact surface, forming the joint. However, since the flat profile represents the only possible thermal bridge in the glass door according to the invention, its cooling by the foam emerging from the fire protection pane leads to a significant reduction in heat transfer at the edge of the glass door for a certain period of time, and thus to improved fire protection properties of the glass door. In this context, "flat profile" should not only be understood to mean a completely flat, i.e. flat profile, but a profile that, for example, is designed as a hollow profile, so narrow that in the event of a fire the cooling effect from the foam emerging is guaranteed.
Auch eine Außenisolierung der Profile istThe above-mentioned advantages are achieved without additional insulation measures in the form of strips or bars made of non-flammable or flame-retardant material inserted within the steel frame. External insulation of the profiles is also possible.

nicht erforderlich, da im Gegensatz zum Stand der Technik keine großflächigen Stahlhohlprofile verwendet werden, sondern Flachprofile, welche der Hitze nur eine geringe Angriffs- und damit Wärmeübertragungsfläche bieten.not required, since in contrast to the state of the art, no large-area hollow steel profiles are used, but rather flat profiles, which offer only a small area for the heat to attack and thus heat transfer.
The glass door, which can be designed with one or two leaves, is further developed in that the frame profile is also designed as a flat profile, to which the abutting surface of another fire protection pane adjoins, forming a corresponding joint. This has the advantage of significantly reducing the effective thermal bridges not only in the area of the frame, but also in the door frame of the glass door.
A particularly stable and attractive glass door for fire protection purposes is achieved by connecting a strip-shaped joint cover to the door profile on one or both sides. The joint cover can, for example, be designed as a hollow steel profile, which can easily be painted to adapt to the respective environment. Surface treatment is also possible.
A further development of the glass door has an angle formed on the door profile and connected to the hinge. In this way, the angle is formed on the component that also requires special adaptation, for example with regard to door seals and other fittings. This means that the joint covers can be kept free of fittings, which means that they can be designed in a uniform manner, which in turn benefits the visual appearance of the glass door.
Die Zeichnung zeigt in verkürzter DarstellungAn embodiment of a glass door according to the invention for fire protection purposes is described below using the drawing. The drawing shows an abbreviated representation
eine Glastür als Teil einer Brandschutzverglasung.a glass door as part of fire-resistant glazing.
The glass door 1 shown in the drawing is part of a fire protection glazing, of which two fire protection panes 2a are shown in the drawing. The flat sides of the fire protection panes 2a are provided with hollow profiles 3 in the area of their edge, which form the outer frame of the respective fire protection panes 2a. In the gaps between the edges of the fire protection panes 2a and the inner surfaces of the hollow profiles 3 there are elastocell bands 4, whereby these gaps are additionally sealed in the direction of the center of the pane with a sealing compound 5 made of silicone rubber.
The glass door 1, which is pivotably mounted on the fire protection glazing via a hinge 6, also consists of a fire protection pane 2b, which is held at its edges by a door frame 7 in the manner already described, which is made up of the hollow profiles 3 and a door profile 8 on the front side of the fire protection pane 2b. A door handle 8a for operating a locking mechanism (not shown) is attached to each of the hollow profiles 3 opposite the hinge side.
The fire protection panes 2a, 2b consist of a special laminated glass, which consists of several panes of glass with fire protection layers arranged in between. In the event of a fire, these fire protection layers are activated, absorbing heat radiation and thus forming an effective insulating layer that prevents the passage of fire and smoke. The activation of the fire protection layers in the event of a fire causes them to foam up and become cloudy, so that an opaque fire protection wall is created.
To hold the glass door 1 within the fire protection glazing, the glass door 1 is provided with the door profile 8 on its vertical edges, which is attached to the front
When the glass door 1 is closed, the door profiles 8 rest on flat frame profiles 10 via seals 9, which are attached to corresponding end faces of the hollow profiles 3 of the fire-resistant glazing. The door profiles 8 of the door frame 7 and the frame profiles 10 are indeed designed as flat profiles; however, this does not exclude the possibility that both profiles have bends 11, 12, whereby the bends 11 serve to seal the glass door 1 when it is closed, while the bend 12 creates the connection between one of the door profiles 8 and the hinge 6 designed as a pivot hinge.
The drawing shows that a gap 14 with a gap width f of no more than 6mm remains between the surfaces of the door profiles 8 or the frame profiles 10 facing the respective fire protection panes 2a, 2b and the adjacent abutting surfaces 13a or 13b of the fire protection panes 2a or 2b. In the example, the gap width f of the gap IA is less than 4mm. For this purpose, the flat frame profiles 10 and door profiles 8 are slightly recessed in the area of the abutting surfaces 13a or 13b in the direction of the respective pane.
Durch die beschriebene Wirkungsweise der Brandschutzscheiben 2a, 2b wirdIn the event of a fire, the fire protection layer contained therein is foamed up as a result of the heating of the fire protection panes 2a, 2b, whereby material from this foam escapes from the abutting surfaces 13a, 13b of the fire protection panes 2a, 2b and seals the joints 14 so that flames and smoke can no longer pass through the joints 14. In addition, the foam escaping from the abutting surfaces 13a, 13b causes the adjacent frame profile 10 or door profile 8 to cool, so that the transfer of heat via the frame profiles 10 or door profiles 8 is made more difficult. The described mode of operation of the fire protection panes 2a, 2b
This not only prevents the passage of flames and smoke through the joints 14, but also reduces the structural effect of the frame profiles 10 and door profiles 8 as thermal bridges to a minimum. This advantage of cooling the frame profiles 10 and door profiles 8 is achieved by the fact that these profiles are sufficiently flat so that the cooling effect of the foam emerging from the abutting surfaces 13a, 13b covers the entire cross-section of the frame profiles 10 and door profiles 8, which is considered a potential thermal bridge. A strip 15 made of material that foams up in the event of a fire is attached to the recess in the frame profile 10. This closes off the gap between the door profile 8 and the frame profile 10 in the event of a fire.
Since the optical structure of the glass door 1 in the glass part with the fire protection pane 2b and the edge part covered with the hollow profiles 3 corresponds to the corresponding structure of the other surfaces of the fire protection glazing, the overall optical impression of the fire protection glazing is uniform. In particular, the glass door 1 creates the impression of lightness due to the narrow door profiles 8 and frame profiles 10 and thus stands out clearly from the known glass doors, which usually have voluminous frame structures.
