Abstract

PCT No. PCT/EP90/01833 Sec. 371 Date Jul. 13, 1992 Sec. 102(e) Date Jul. 13, 1992 PCT Filed Nov. 2, 1990 PCT Pub. No. WO91/07130 PCT Pub. Date May 30, 1991.In a mop head which can be fitted on a mop holder having two flaps which can be folded back upon each other, with the mop head including two pouches on its upper side, and an additional securing device allocated to one pouch, a system is provided to facilitate the securing of the strap to the end of the flap in the locked position of use. This is achieved in that the securing device is a strap or retaining plate having two elongated holes or slots, the plate being fitted to a fabric covering of the mop head at its short end, with screw-head-like projecting securing means corresponding to the elongated holes on one of the flaps, whereby the elongated holes have a longitudinal extension permitting insertion in the pouch and the release of the flap end from the pouch, on the relative movement of the flap and strap, and the securing means lie against the edge of the elongated hole towards the short end with the mop head secured in the operative position, and lie against the edge of the elongated hole towards the handle when the flaps are folded.

Description

The invention relates to a mop cover for the wet or damp wiping of floors, which can be pulled up onto a mop holder which has two wings which can be folded towards one another from a locked working position and has means for attaching a handle holder, and which mop cover has an elongated shape which supports the mop fringes the wing has adapted textile layer with pockets sewn on the longitudinal side on its upper side and additional fastening means arranged on a pocket for detachable fastening on one side at one wing end.

Such mop covers and mop holders are used in commercial room and floor care.

Such a mop cover is known for example from DE-PS 32 46 161. This mop cover has two receiving pockets for the mop holder on its top and an additional fastener on one pocket. This additional fastening means is fastened in the base of the pocket on one side and has means on the opposite side with which it can be detachably fastened around the bow-shaped end of a wing of the mop holder. In the locked working position of the mop holder, the additional fastening means has been pushed from the wing end into the assigned pocket and the wet mop in the two end pockets is used for cleaning the floor. To the Washing and pressing out the mop cover fold the two wings towards each other from their locked working position and the two wing ends come free from the pockets. The damp mop then hangs down the length of a wing attached to the tab. After washing and, if necessary, pressing out the damp mop cover, it is placed on the floor and the wing ends are reinserted into the pockets until the locked working position is reached. The whole process of washing out and squeezing out should be carried out without the operator having to put his hand on the mop cover.

This known mop cover has the disadvantage that the additional flap is attached to the end of the wing of the mop holder and must always be fully inserted into the pocket when this wing end is inserted into the associated pocket. This very often leads to the flap kinking or buckling and blocking the pocket opening, i. H. the wing tip can only be inserted with difficulty and an additional effort. Furthermore, this mop cover has the disadvantage that the additional flap can only be attached to it when the wing end is not inserted into the pocket. This makes the handling of the mop cover cumbersome insofar as the mop holder must first be brought into the locked working position in order to attach the mop cover. Then the additional tab is attached to one wing end of the mop holder. However, since the mop holder cannot be inserted into the pockets in this locked working position, the mop holder must be unlocked again and the wing ends inserted into the pockets and the mop holder brought into the working position.

The object of the invention is to provide a solution that a fastening of the tab on the wing end in the locked working position enables and requires a shorter tab compared to known mop covers.

In the case of a mop cover of the type mentioned at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention in that the fastening means is a tab provided with two elongated holes, fastened at the longitudinal end to the textile layer, and arranged on one of the wings made entirely of plastic, corresponding to the elongated holes, with screw-like protruding fastening means the elongated holes have a longitudinal extension that enables the wing and flap to be pushed into the pocket and the wing end to come out of the pocket, and the fastening means, when the mop cover is fixed, rest against the long-end slot limit in the working position and when the wing is folded, against the handle-facing slot hole limit .

Because of the invention, it is first possible to make the tab shorter than in the known prior art. Since, in the known prior art, the tab is attached to the end of the wing, the tab must be of such a length that it allows folding around the bow-like end of the wing end and then also allows the wing end to be fully inserted into the pocket. In practice, this means that the additional fastening means has a length which corresponds to more than twice the pocket depth. In the invention, however, the tab now only has to have a length which corresponds approximately to the depth of the bag. This means a material saving compared to the prior art. The relative displacement between wing and flap or wing and pocket is made possible according to the invention by the elongated holes and the fastening means of the plastic wing which can be displaced therein.

Furthermore, due to the design of the tab according to the invention, it is also possible to attach the tab to the mop holder when the mop holder is already inserted into the bag. Although this is already possible with a mop cover and a mop holder in accordance with DE-OS 37 14 178, in this prior art the relative displacement between pockets and wing ends is in turn carried out by additional fastening means which unfold. The material saving intended by the invention cannot be achieved with this known embodiment.

In an advantageous embodiment, the invention is distinguished by the inherent stiffness of the bracket, which enables the relative displacement.

Since the mop cover comes into contact with partially aggressive cleaning agents and the tab should be flexible, at least in some areas, the tab is made of plastic, in particular a thermoplastic based on polyether esters.

The invention is explained below with reference to the drawing, for example. In the single figure, this shows an embodiment of the mop cover.

The only figure shows a mop cover 1 for the wet or damp wiping of floors. The mop cover 1 is fitted onto a mop holder, generally designated 2 and shown in the locked working position. The mop holder 2 consists of two wings 4 and 5, which can be folded together about an axis 3, and a preferably gimbal-mounted handle holder 6 with a handle 7 inserted therein. The mop cover 1 consists of an elongated textile layer 8 adapted to the shape of the wings mop fringes 9 are arranged. Pockets 10 and 11 are attached to the two longitudinal ends on the top of the textile layer 8. The pockets are sewn onto the top of the textile layer 8 both on the long sides and on the broad sides. To unlock the mop holder from the working position shown, a foot switch 12 must be pressed. Within one of the pockets 10, 11 of the mop cover 1, in the example shown here inside the pocket 11, a strap 13 is fastened as an additional fastening means. This flap 13 is sewn together with the pocket 10 on the longitudinal edge of the mop cover 1 by means of a seam 14. Elongated holes 15 and 16 are formed inside the flap 13 outside the extent of the pocket. In the illustrated state of the mop cover 1 fixed to the wing 5, fastening means 17 and 18 projecting from the wing 5 in the manner of a screw head are slidably arranged in the elongated holes 15 and 16. The fastening means 17 and 18 are fixed in place on the wing 5. These are inserted into the elongated holes 15, 16 by buttoning. The head region of the fastening means 17 and 18, which is widened like a screw head, prevents one Slipping out of the elongated holes 15 and 16, but a relative displacement between wing 5 and tab 13 or pocket 11 is possible. The elongated holes 15 and 16 have such a longitudinal extent that when the fasteners 17 and 18 are moved from the position shown in the figure to the stop position against the hole boundaries facing the handle holder 6, the wing end 19 is released from the pocket 11. That is, When the mop cover 1 or the flap 13 is fixed to the wing 5, the fastening means 17 and 18 rest against the longitudinal hole boundaries when the wing is pushed into the pocket 11, as shown in the figure shown, and when the wing end 19 is released from the pocket the fastening means 17 and 18 on the hole boundaries facing the handle 7. The tab 11 is preferably made of plastic and has an inherent rigidity that enables the relative displacement of the fastening means 17, 18 in the elongated holes 15, 16.

The tab 13 consists of a thermoplastic material based on polyether esters. This is a semi-crystalline plastic. This plastic is sold under the brand name arnitel (R) .

When using the mop cover 1 and the mop holder 2, the two wings 5 and 6 can first be inserted into the pockets 10 and 11 and the mop holder 2 can be brought into the locked working position shown. The tab 13 is then buttoned onto the fastening means 17, 18. In this position the mop cover is ready for wiping.

To wash out or squeeze out, the foot actuation button 12 is actuated and thus unlocks the mop holder. When moving up of the handle 7 then the wings 4 and 5 close to each other and the wing ends come free from the pockets. During this movement, the fastening means 17, 18 move in the slots 15 and 16 from the position shown in the stop position to the opposite hole edge boundaries. In this position, not shown, the damp mop then hangs along the length of the wing 5 and can be supplied to washing buckets and presses. After washing out and squeezing out the mop cover 1, it is put back on the wing 5 hanging on the floor and the wing ends are inserted into the pockets 10 and 11. Here, the fastening means 17, 18 then move in the elongated holes 15, 16 from the stop position, not shown, to the stop position shown.

Of course, the described mop cover can be modified or supplemented in many ways without departing from the basic idea of the invention. For example, instead of a tab 13 having two elongated holes, two strip-shaped tabs, each with an elongated hole, can be provided. Pocket 11 and flap 13 can also be formed in one piece. The flap 13 then forms the continuation of the pocket 11, which is sewn onto the top of the textile layer 8. The flap 13 is then not sewn to the textile layer.
