Claims (11)

  1. Seat support for an office chair or the like, comprising a seat plate (2) accommodating the seat upholstery (3) and pivotably joined to a base body (1) in the vicinity of the latter's front end, retaining devices on the base body for mounting a chair column (14), a back (7) and a bent back support (4) joined to the back, a lower section (6) of the back support extending approximately horizontally being pivotably joined to the base body, and a gas spring (9) being given which is joined to the base body on the one hand and to the back support on the other hand and which restores the back support, characterized in that the back support (4) is joined to the base body (1) by way of a sliding block (18) forming a pivoting hinge (23) and being slidably displaceable along a certain path in a cam recess (17) of the base body (1), the seat plate (2) resting slidably on the horizontal section (6) of the back support (4).
  2. Seat support according to claim 1, characterized in that the cam recess (17) is defined by two segments of a circle (19, 20), the associated center (M) of the circle being located under the cam recess (17).
  3. Seat support according to claim 2, characterized in that the center (M) of the circle is about level with the axis of articulation (8) of the gas spring (9) on the base body (1).
  4. Seat support according to claim 3, characterized in that the center (M) of the circle is slightly displaced to the back referred to the axis of articulation (8) of the gas spring (9) on the base body (1).
  5. Seat support according to claim 1, characterized in that the rear and the front back wall (21 and 22, respectively) of the cam recess (17) serve as stops for the sliding motion.
  6. Seat support according to claim 1, characterized in that the seat plate (2) is a substantially uninterrupted plate of metal made in one piece and reinforced by convexities in the form of ribs.
  7. Seat support according to claim 1, characterized in that the base body (1) consists substantially of a single injection-molded unit.
  8. Seat support according to claim 7, characterized in that a mounting cone (12) for a chair column (14) is provided to be formed in one piece with the base body (1).
  9. Seat support according to claim 7, characterized in that the base body (1) has a plurality of vertical ribs (27) extending from the portion of the front edge of the seat towards the mounting portion of the chair column (14).
  10. Seat support according to claim 1, characterized in that the back support (4) is an injection-molded unit made in one piece of plastics.
  11. Seat support according to claim 1, characterized in that the sliding block (18) consists of polyamide or of polyarylamide, respectively.
