Abstract

Said assembly comprises a fixed or rigid frame section member (1), including a box-like body, having, on a side thereof, a first guide rail (3) and, on another side thereof, seats for engaging affixing means (4) to provide a firm coupling with the rigid or fixed structure.
Laterally of the box-like body there is provided a further body coupled to the box-like body through the interposition of thermal insulation means (6), the further body including at least a second guide rail (10).

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a section member assembly for making sliding wing window frames.
  • As is known, great problems are encountered in making section members for sliding wing window frames, because of the constructional complexity of said section members which compels the builder to make a broad range of section members which, as assembled, will provide the desired sliding wing window frame.
  • Another problem of prior section members for the intended use is that these prior section members do not provide a satisfactory thermal insulation because of a metal continuity of the inner surface and outer surface of the section member whilst, if a thermal seal is applied to these prior section members, then the mechanical strength thereof is greatly reduced.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The aim of the present invention is to provide a section member assembly for making sliding wing window frames which allows the window frame to be made with a single type of section member for the rigid frame, which section member is suitable for making both the window frame cross-members and the window frame upright members, and a single type of section member for the movable or sliding window frame, which is also used both for making the cross and upright members of the movable frame.
  • Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the present invention is to provide a section member assembly the section members of which can be properly thermally insulated without interrupting the metal material forming said section members thereby holding unaltered the mechanical strength properties thereof.
  • Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a section member assembly including a small number of component section members which can be assembled by simple and quick assembling operation.
  • According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects, as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a section member assembly for making sliding wing window frames, characterized in that said section member assembly comprises a fixed or rigid frame section member, including a box-like body having, on a side thereof, a first guide rail and, on another side thereof, a plurality of seats for engaging restraining means for restraining said rigid frame section member to a building wall, to a side of said box-like body there being coupled, through the interposition of thermal insulating means, at least a further body including at least a second guide rail, said rigid frame section member being designed for engaging with a movable frame section member, said movable frame section member including a central body having a seat therein a glass restraining section member can engage, and therefrom a leg extends which can operatively engage with one of said rail, to said central body there being coupled, with the interposition of thermal insulating means, opposite lugs which can be respectively engage with one of said rails and with a plate-like element of said movable frame.

    DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • With reference to Figure 1 to 12 of the accompanying drawings, the section member assembly for making sliding wing window frames according to the present invention comprises a fixed or rigid frame section member, generally indicated at the reference number 1, which is provided with a box-like body 2, from a side thereof there extends, in a single body with said box-like body, a guide rail, indicated at 3.
  • On the opposite side with respect to the rail 3, the box-like body 2 comprises a seat, in which restraining means can be engaged for restraining the rigid frame to a wall of a building, for example.
  • Laterally, the box-like body is provided with a plurality of grooves 5, therein can be engaged an enlarged end portion of small rods 6, providing a thermal baffle member, said rods, at the other end portions thereof, engaging in corresponding grooves 8 formed on a side body 9 having a second guide rail 10 which is parallel to the first rail 3.
  • Moreover, adjoining the rail 10, a lug 11 extends from the side body 9, said lug being so designed as to define a channel configuration.
  • The section member 1, according to one aspect of the present invention, can be used both for making the window frame uprights and for making the window frame cross-members, thereby it is very flexible in use and greatly simplifying the assembling of a sliding wing window frame.
  • More specifically, the assembling of the upright section members and cross-section members is made by small brackets or the like elements, to be engaged with the box-like body 2.
  • With the rigid-frame section member 1, can be engaged a movable or sliding frame section member, generally indicated at the reference number 20, including a central body 21 having a seat 22, therein a glass-plate restraining section member can be engaged (which will be disclosed in a more detailed way hereinafter) and therefrom a leg 23 extends which can be operatively engaged with the rails formed on the rigid frame section members.
  • As shown, at its free end portion, the leg 23 is provided with a seat 24 or recess, therein a small brush 25 can be engaged, said brush 25 being provided for sliding on the rails of the rigid frame section member (see Figure 6).
  • Opposite to the leg 23, further legs 26 and 27 are provided, which are coupled to the central body 21 through insulating material rods, also indicated at the reference number 6.
  • The bottom leg 26 is also provided, at the free end portion thereof, with a brush receiving seat 24, this latter brush being opposite to the brush member engaged in the above mentioned or other seat 24, whilst, on the opposite side thereof, the leg 27 has a seat for a seal member which can be abutted against a plate-like elements or glass plate, engaged in the movable or sliding frame.
  • In the gap between the leg 23 and the leg 26 can be arranged sliding trucks 30 for the movable frame; to that end, the legs are provided, on their inner portions, with teeth 31 for restraining said trucks.
  • Moreover, in the seat 22, a glass restraining member indicated at 40 can be engaged, said member 40 having a substantially L-shape and including an arm 41 which can be snap engaged in the seat 22 and an engaging further arm 42 adapted to operate as a restraining and pressing member for a seal 44 restraining the glass plate in cooperation with the opposite seal member 45 engaged in the seat 28.
  • At the central uprights of the movable frame there are provided head section members (indicated at 50 in Figure 3), which have a L-shaped body with the arm 51 which is snap engaged in the seat 28, in which, in this case, no seal member is arranged, whereas the other arm, indicated at 55, has a tapering thickness and restrains a coupling section member 60, made of a thermally insulating material (shown in Figure 4), which ends with a locking tooth or dog 61 provided for coupling with the engaging section member 60 associated with the other wing of the movable frame thereby providing a closure stop function as well as a coupling barrier function.
  • On the arm 55 there is moreover provided a seat 57 for engaging therein a brush seal member adapted to provide tightness on the front frame section member.
  • In order to connect the rigid frame to the building wall, there is further provided a covering section member 70, which is engaged at the free end portion of the side body 9 and provides thightness against said building wall.
  • Moreover, on the rigid frame section member, and at an opposite position with respect to the lug 11, which defines the mentioned channel member, there is provided a further lug 72, which is directly associated with the box-like body 2.
  • As schematically shown in Figure 12, it is also possible to provide a rigid frame section member including three rails, which is conceptually analogous to the above disclosed section members, with the addition of a further side body, indicated at 80, which is associated with the box-like body, indicated at 2′, symmetrically with respect to the body 9; also in this case, the coupling is performed by using the insulating rods 6.
  • With respect to the bottom cross-members, there are conventionally made therein a plurality of holes for conveying the condensate material, so that said condensate material will pass through the box-like body and the several associated elements to freely discharge outwardly.
  • Moreover, on the portion of section member included between the rails, coating elements 90 can be advantageously provided, said coating elements being made of a thermally insulating material.
  • Moreover, as is shown in Figure 11, the rigid frame section members can be easily and quickly associated with conventional types of rigid frames, thereby providing door and window frames in which it is possible to have either a fixed portion or an openable portion, and a portion of the frame provided with the sliding wing.
  • With reference to Figures from 1 to 28, there are herein illustrated other section-members of the section member assembly according to the present invention, which can be combined with swingable wings and, more specifically, in Figure 13 there is shown a rigid frame for sliding wings, generally indicated at the reference number 101, which comprises a first box-like body 102 and a second box-like body 103 which, on their opposite faces, are provided with engament seats 104 therein can be engaged elements 105, comprising polyamide material plates, for providing the so-called "thermal cutting", since they interrupt the metal continuity between the inner and outer surfaces.
  • On the first body 102, and, in particular, on the surface of the latter facing the sliding wings, there is provided a pair of spaced lugs 106, operating as abutting elements for the sliding wing, as it will be disclosed in a more detailed way hereinafter; on the opposite side thereof, the first body 102 is provided with a further lug 107 which, toward the other body, defines a hook-shaped seat 108 for engaging with wall affixing means, such as a spacer element and the like whereas, on the other side, there is provided a hook member 109, therewith a covering section member can be engaged, as it will be disclosed in a more detailed way hereinafter.
  • The second body 103 is provided with an inwardly extending leg 110, whereas the other side is provided with a lug, still indicated at 107, since it is equivalent to the above disclosed lug, and which is provided with a hook member 109 and an inner lug, indicated at 107a, which is oppositedly arranged so as to connect the wall affixing elements.
  • Between the rigid frame uprights, for sliding wings, there are coupled a top rail, generally indicated at the reference number 112, which also comprises an outer body and an inner body, indicated at 113 and 114, coupled by insulating elements, still indicated at 105, and including rail lugs 115, defining the sliding element for the sliding wings, as it will be disclosed in a more detailed way hereinafter.
  • On the outer faces there are provided a circular seat 117 and lugs 118 for coupling with front elements.
  • Adjoining the rail 115 there are provided restraining or holding tongues, indicated at 119.
  • Figure 15 illustrates a bottom rail section member, generally indicated at the reference number 120, which is substantially similar to the top rail, with the exection of a different configuration of the lugs and seats formed on the outside side, and in which one of the tongues 119 is omitted; the equivalent elements are still indicated by the same numbers.
  • Figure 16 illustrates an upright section member for the sliding wing, said upright section member being generally indicated at the reference number 130, which comprises a pair of plates 131 opposite to one another and coupled by insulating elements, indicated at 105.
  • At an end portion thereof, there are provided seats 132 therein a tightness brush can be engaged, whereas, at the other end portion thereof, there is provided a recessed tooth member 133.
  • The movable frame horizontal section member, indicated at 135 and specifically shown in Figure 17, comprises a pair of opposite plates 136 which are coupled by the insulating elements 105; between these insulating elements a foot element 137 extends from a plate 136, said foot element 137 supporting a circular shape seat 138.
  • At one end, the plates 136 extend with arm ending with seats 139 for engaging therein tightness elements and the mentioned trucks, whereas, on the other side, there is provided a recessed tooth member, still indicated at 133.
  • Figure 18 illustrates a head section member, indicated at the reference number 140, which is provided for coupling with the inner head upright section member of the sliding frames and being provided with a L-shape body 141 which, on an end portion thereof, is provided with a tooth member 142 provided for engaging in the seat 132 of the section member 130, whereas, at the other leg of the L shape, it is provided with an elongated tooth member 143 adjoining a brush seat 144.
  • On the tooth member 143, a coating or covering section member 146 can be applied, as shown in Figure 19, which is provided for operating as an abutment member for coupling the two section members, and, in addition, being also provided for air and water tightness.
  • The covering section member 146 is provided with a recess 147 which can be engaged on a projecting tooth member 148 provided on the inner portion of the section member 140.
  • Figure 20 illustrates a wall finishing section member, indicated at the reference number 150, which is provided with an elongated body 151, ending in a seat 152 and, at the other end portion thereof, being provided with a projection 153 adapted to be snap engaged with the tooth member 108 shown in Figure 13.
  • Figures 21 and 22 illustrate further section members, respectively indicated at the reference numbers 151 and 152, which form the vertical uprights and rails for a window frame having either three or six sliding wings; these section members have substantially the same construction shown in Figures 13 to 15, the sole difference being that in the section member 151 there is provided a central body 153, whilst in the section member 152 there is provided a central rail body 154, said central bodies being coupled to said first and second bodies by means of a pair of insulating elements, still indicated at 105.
  • Figure 23 illustrates yet another section member, to be used as a rigid frame, for restraining a glass plate; this section member, generally indicated at the reference number 160, comprises an outer body 161 and an inner body 162 which are coupled to one another by means of insulating elements 105.
  • More specifically, the outer body 161 is provided with a leg 163 ending with a seat 164 for receiving dutral or the like gaskets or seals, whereas the inner body 162 is provided with a seat 165 with opposite tooth members 166, in which can be engaged a glass restraining element 167, for restraining the glass sheet.
  • On the other side of the bodies 161 and 162 there are provided lugs, indicated at 168 and 168a, for coupling a finishing section member, as well as an intermediate lug 169 allowing a spacer element to be connected, for performing the connection to a wall.
  • Figure 24 illustrates a further section member 170, to be used as a rigid frame cross or horizontal section member, which comprises an outer body 171 and an inner body 172 said bodies being coupled by insulating elements 105; moreover, inside the mentioned bodies, there are provided lugs with circulat seats, indicated at 173 and 174, allowing screw members to be engaged, for making the rigid frames.
  • Moreover, on the outer surface there are provided further lugs, similar to those indicated at 168 and 169, for coupling auxiliary elements.
  • Likewise, a further tongue is provided, still indicated at 163, having a seat 164 for receiving a sealing gasket.
  • As shown in Figures 25 and 26, the above disclosed section members can be variously assembled or combined so as to provide a window frame having a glass or fixed frame, adjoining sliding glass plates.
  • In this case, there is furthermore provided a coupling section member, having substantially a bridge shape, and being indicated at the reference number 180, which allows the rigid frame section member 160 and the section member 101 to be interconnected, so as to provide a rigid frame for the slidling wings.
  • There are moreover provided several combined elements, such as, for example, the bridge seals, indicated at the reference number 181, which allow glass plates to be applied to the sliding wing frames.
  • With reference to Figure 27, above a sliding wing frame there is provided a tilting frame, generally indicated at the reference number 190, of the so-called vasistas type, in which the hinge assembly is arranged inside the seats which are already usually provided for the several section member and fit to different use requirements.
  • From the above disclosure it should be apparent that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects.
  • In particular, the fact is to be pointed put that the great use flexibility of the section member assembly according to the invention provides the user with the possibility of easily and quickly making several different connections so as to provide a broad range of window and door frames.
  • Moreover, the thus constructed window frames, owing to the provision of the insulating elements 105 comprising polyamide material plates, are perfectly thermally insulated, without any metal continuity from the inside environment to the outside, thereby providing great thermal insulation advantages.
  • To the foregoing it is to be added that all of the seals used in the subject system are made of dutral, thereby providing a great duration and reliability.
  • Moreover, special auxiliary fittings are provided which are so designed as to prevent heat from being transmitted from the inside to the outside environment.
  • The invention as disclosed is susceptible to several variation and modifications all of which will come within the scope of the invention.
  • Moreover, all of the details can be replaced by other techically equivalent elements. In practicing the invention, the used materails, as well as the contingent size and shapes can be any depending on requirements.

Claims (26)

  1. A section member assembly for making sliding wing window frames, characterized in that said section member assembly comprises a fixed or rigid frame section member, including a box-like body having, on a side thereof, a first guide rail and, on another side thereof, a plurality of seats for engaging restraining means for restraining said rigid frame section member to a building wall, to a side of said box-like body there being coupled, through the interposition of thermal insulating means, at least a further body including at least a second guide rail, said rigid frame section member being designed for engaging with a movable frame section member, said movable frame section member including a central body having a seat therein a glass restraining section member can engage, and therefrom a leg extends which can operatively engage with one of said rails, to said central body there being coupled, with the interposition of thermal insulating means, opposite lugs which can be respectvely engaged with one of said rails and with a plate-like element of said movable frame.
  2. A section member assembly, according to Claim 1, characterized in that said rigid frame section member is provided, on a side thereof, with a plurality of grooves, therein can be removably engaged corresponding enlarged end portions of a plurality of small rods forming said thermal insulating means.
  3. A section member assembly, according to the preceding claims, characterized in that said side body is provided with corresponding grooves therein said enlarged end portions of said small rod can be removably engaged.
  4. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, charactzrized in that said rigid frame section member comprises a channel defining lug extending from the side body and parallel to the second rail.
  5. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the leg extending from the central body of the movable frame section member ends with a seat for a sealing brush member.
  6. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said opposite tongues comprise a bottom tongue ending with a brush receiving seat and a top tongue having a seal receiving seat for engaging with the glass plate.
  7. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said bottom tongue and said leg define therebetween a region for receiving the sliding trucks of said movable frame, which trucks are restrained by tooth members correspondingly provided on said leg and tongue.
  8. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the glass plate restraining member has a L-shape with an arm thereof which can be snap engaged in the seat formed on the central body and with the other arm thereof which ends with an enlarged portion provided for coupling with a tightness gasket for said glass plate, opposite to the corresponding seat provided on the top tongue.
  9. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a head section member, having a substantially L-shape body, with an arm thereof ending with a coupling seat for coupling with the seat for the seal of the rigid frame section member, and the other arm thereof, having a reduced thickness, which is provided for restraining a coupling section member ending with an engagement tooth portion which can be associated with the corresponding coupling section member of the other movable frame.
  10. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the head section member is provided, on its reduced thickness arm, with a sealing brush receiving seat, abutting against the tongue of the rigid frame section member and engageable with the building wall.
  11. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises covering section members which can be associated with the rigid frame section member and engaged with said building wall.
  12. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a rigid frame section member including three rails and having a box-like central body with a rail adjoining two side bodies supporting the remaining two rails, said side bodies being associated by means of said small rods.
  13. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a thermally insulating material coating or covering element arranged in the regions included between said rails.
  14. A section member assembly, for making sliding wing frames, to be combined with swinging wings, characterized in that it comprises rigid frame uprights and cross-members and bottom and top rails including at least two guides to be slidably engaged by the sliding-frame section members, said uprights, cross-members, rails and sliding frame section members comprising an outer body and an inner body said outer and inner bodies being coupled by thermally insulating coupling element engaged in seats formed on opposite faces of said bodies.
  15. A section member assembly, according to claim 14, characterized in that said assembly comprises a rigid frame upright, for sliding wings, including a first and second box-like bodies, coupled to one another by said insulating elements, with one of said bodies, on a surface thereof facing the sliding wings, there being associated a pair of spaced lugs for the abutment of the sliding wing, said body being provided, on the opposite side thereof, with a lug comprising a hook seat for engaging with wall affixing means, and a hook portion which can be engaged with a covering section member, the other body including a tongue provided with said hook portion and an inner lug for said wall affixing elements.
  16. A section member assembly, according to the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly comprises a top rail, including an outer body and an inner body coupled by said insulating elements, said bodies being provided with rail lugs forming a sliding element for said sliding wings, on the outer faces there being moreover provided a circular seat and further lugs for coupling two front elements, holding tongues being moreover provided adjoining said rails.
  17. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a bottom rail section member, having an outer body and an inner body said outer and inner bodies being coupled by said insulating elements and on one of said body there being provided a holding or restraining tongue.
  18. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a upright section member for a sliding wing, having a pair of small plates coupled by said insulating element, at one end portion of said plates there being provided sealing brush receiving seats and, at the other end portion thereof there being provided a recessed tooth member.
  19. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a movable frame horizontal section member, including a pair of opposite plates coupled by said insulating elements, between the insulating elements of one of said plates a further lug extending which defines a substantially circular seat, at one end of said plates there being provided extending arms ending with seats for coupling sealing elements and housing trucks, and at the other end there being provided a recessed tooth member.
  20. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a head section member which can be coupled to the sliding frame uprights and comprising a substantially L-shape body having, at one end thereof, a small tooth member which can be engaged in seats of the upright section member, on the side side of the L-shape there being provided an elongated tooth member adjoining s sealing brush seat.
  21. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a covering or coating element, which can be coupled to said elongated tooth member for forming an abutment element for coupling the two section members of two opposite sliding wings, the covering section member being provided with a recess which can be abutted on a tooth member provided on the head section member.
  22. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a finishing section member having an elongated body ending at one end thereof with a seat and provided at the other end thereof with a projection which can be engaged in seat tooth member formed on the rigid frame section member.
  23. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises uprights and rails having an outer body and an inner body, coupled by said insulating elements to a central body for making a frame having either three or six sliding wings.
  24. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a rigid frame section member, having an inner body and an outer body coupled by said insulating elements, on the outer body there being provided a leg ending with a seat for applying glass plate tighness seals, the inner body including a seat with opposite tooth member for snap applying a glass plate restraining element, on the opposite side thereof said body being provided with lugs for coupling the finishing section member and connecting a wall spacer element.
  25. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a rigid frame cross or horizontal section member, including an outer body and an inner body coupled by said insulating elements, inside said bodies there being provided lugs including circular seats for applying screw members for making the rigid frames.
  26. A section member assembly, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said assembly further comprises a substantially bridge-shape coupling section member, for coupling rigid frame section member's and sliding wing rigid frame section members.
