Description
The invention relates to a valve for an aerosol canister, a valve of the kind which allows the spraying of a product contained under gas pressure in the canister and which comprises a body fixed on the canister and projecting inwards from it. container, and an actuating rod, accessible from outside the container, and capable of being moved, by the action of a user, to control the opening of the valve according to the preamble of
When spraying a product, in particular hairspray, it is desirable to obtain, throughout the duration of use of the container, a good quality of spraying, that is to say a flow rate and a size suitable droplets sprayed. This problem arises in particular when the gas pressure inside the container is ensured with a compressed gas (N2, CO2 or air), since the pressure gradually decreases during repeated use.
The object of the invention is, above all, to provide a valve which makes it possible to solve this problem by automatically preventing any spraying when the pressure inside the can becomes lower than a predetermined pressure, considered as minimum to ensure a suitable spraying. In the case of a can that can be recharged with compressed propellant gas, the user will thus be warned to have to refill the can with compressed gas.
On a déjà proposé, selon US-A-3 018 928, de combiner une telle valve avec un clapet propre à se trouver à l'intérieur du bidon et comportant un organe mobile soumis à l'action d'un ressort taré de manière telle que, lorsque la pression dans le bidon devient inférieure à une limite prédéterminée, le clapet empêche toute pulvérisation même si la tige de valve est actionnéeIt has already been proposed, according to US-A-3,018,928, to combine such a valve with a valve suitable for being inside the container and comprising a movable member subjected to the action of a spring calibrated in such a way that, when the pressure in the container falls below a predetermined limit, the valve prevents spraying even if the valve stem is actuated
The object of the invention is to provide such a valve which is of a simple and economical embodiment and which can be produced easily from conventional valves which does not make it possible to automatically prevent spraying from a certain minimum pressure.
According to the invention, a valve for aerosol can of the kind defined above is characterized in that the combination of the valve and the valve is such that, the valve body having an inlet and the valve comprising a tubular casing covering said inlet, the movable member of the valve is arranged in such a way that the passage of the product constituted by the inlet and the 'envelope can be closed, the valve opening only for a pressure, inside the tank, at least equal to the above predetermined limit.
Advantageously, the movable member for closing the valve consists of a ball; alternatively, this movable member can be constituted by a needle or any equivalent means.
Preferably, the tubular casing is fixed to the valve body and has an orifice for communication with the interior of the container, this orifice comprising a seat for the movable closure member, the calibrated spring tending to apply this closure against this seat.
Advantageously, the valve according to the invention comprises a conventional standard valve, and the envelope of the valve is attached and fixed to the body of this conventional valve.
Generally, the cover of the valve is provided with a connection tip coaxial with the communication orifice for the connection of a dip tube.
An additional gas outlet, opening transversely, may be provided in said valve casing, beyond the seat of the ball, on the side of the interior of the container.
When the valve is made from a standard valve whose body has an extension for connection to a dip tube, the valve casing also covers this extension and the calibrated spring is arranged around this extension, coaxially, so as to lean against the end of the standard valve body.
De préférence, la pression déterminée, à partir de laquelle s'ouvre le clapet, est de l'ordre de 2. 10⁵ Pa (2 bars).Preferably, the determined pressure, from which the valve opens, is of the order of 2.10⁵ Pa (2 bars).
The invention also relates to an aerosol can equipped with a valve as defined above.
The invention consists, apart from the arrangements set out above, of a certain number of other arrangements which will be more explicitly discussed below in connection with an exemplary embodiment. described with reference to the accompanying drawings, but which is in no way limiting.
Figure 1 of these drawings is an axial section, with external parts, of a valve according to the invention, the actuating rod being in the closed position.
Figure 2 shows, similarly to Figure 1, the valve while the rod is in the open position, the pressure in the container being greater than the predetermined limit.
Figure 3, finally, shows the valve, similarly to Figure 2, while the pressure in the container is below the predetermined limit.
Referring to Figure 1, we can see a
This
The
The
It is clear that the expression “calibrated spring” must be understood in a broad sense and includes any tared elastic means, acting like a spring, in particular a leaf spring type tinsel.
The
Advantageously, the
However, the operation of the valve according to the invention is as follows.
At rest, as illustrated in Figure 1, the
When the user actuates the valve and pushes the
The product to be sprayed can then pass through the
If the pressure in the container is less than the limit established by the
Under these conditions, even if the user pushes the
The valve according to the invention thus makes it possible to guarantee correct distribution of the product. When the pressure has become too low in the container, the distribution can resume only after the pressure has risen to a value high enough to cause the
This valve is simple and economical to produce and can be obtained by rapid modification of a standard standard valve.
