Abstract

The invention relates to a belt for trousers, skirts or the like, of the type comprising a strap (1), particularly made from leather, provided with a buckle (2) at one end and with interacting holes at the other end. The buckle is fastened forward with two tongues (5), particularly made from leather; a resilient strip is arranged between these tongues in order to form a resilient join between the strap and said tongues. The strap is equipped with an oblong opening (14) which is traversed by a linking member (15) between tongues. This member is adapted in order to be able to slide in the said opening when the tongues and the strap are stressed in longitudinal traction. The belt according to the invention has a longitudinal extensibility which considerably increases its comfort, while benefiting from a traditional top-of-the-range appearance and behaviour which is comparable with that of a non-extensible belt. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a new belt for pants, skirts or the like. It is aimed in particular at a high-end belt made of leather or the like.

In order to improve their comfort, certain belts have been provided with an elastic section, disposed along their length generally in the vicinity of the buckle (US patent 1,180,908). These very old systems have the defect of leading to non-traditional-looking belts, which tend to twist or twist at the elastic section. To overcome this defect, certain belts have been equipped with spring systems associated with the belt buckle (US patents 2,629,104, US 2,659,895, US 1,707,562, GB 589,119). But these old systems are complex, bulky and unsightly, and have been abandoned.

The present invention proposes to provide a belt of traditional appearance and high quality, benefiting from a wearing whose comfort is considerably improved compared to known belts.

To this end, the belt targeted by the invention comprises a strap, in particular leather, provided at one end with a buckle and at the other end with combined means for attaching it around the waist; according to the present invention, said belt is characterized in that:
  • . the buckle is fixed to the front end of two tongues, in particular of leather, comprising rear portions applied along the strap on either side of the end part thereof,
  • . at least one elastic ribbon is disposed between the two tongues, the said ribbon or bands being linked forwards to said tongues and rearwards to the strap in order to produce an elastic junction between said strap and said tongues,
  • . the strap is provided with an oblong opening extending longitudinally behind the elastic ribbons along a portion of strap covered by the tabs,
  • . the tongues are connected together in their rear part by a connecting member which passes through the lumen of the strap and is adapted to slide in said lumen when the tongues and the strap are stressed in longitudinal traction.

By the term "front" is meant the parts located towards the end of the belt where the buckle is located and by the term "rear" the parts located in the opposite direction.

Thus, by the play of the elasticity of the elastic band (s), the belt has a longitudinal extensibility which considerably increases its comfort, while benefiting from a traditional high-end appearance and an outfit comparable to that of a belt. inextensible; in particular, the guiding of the tongues by the connecting member which acts as a slide avoids any risk of twisting or twisting at the end of the belt.

Preferably, the strap and the tongues are made of the same material, in particular leather or a similar material.

According to an advantageous embodiment, the belt comprises, between the two tabs, two elastic ribbons which extend over parallel paths; these ribbons are fixed together to the tongues by their front end, in particular by a seam, overlap a trigger guard which the strap has at its end and are fixed together to said strap through an opening thereof, in particular by a seam.

Des formes préférées d'exécution d'invention font l'objet des revendications dépendantes.Preferred embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.

Other characteristics, objects and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which follows with reference to the accompanying drawings which show an embodiment thereof; on these drawings which form an integral part of this description:
  • FIG. 1 is a schematic perspective view of a belt according to the invention,
  • FIG. 2 is a detailed view of one end of the belt,
  • FIG. 3 is a view of said end in section through a plane AA ′ parallel to the plane of the belt,
  • FIG. 4 is a section on an expanded scale, by a plane BB 'perpendicular to the previous one,
  • FIG. 5 is a view of the waist end in the stretched state,
  • Figure 6 illustrates the wearing of said belt.

The belt shown by way of example in the figures is intended to be introduced into the passers-by of a trouser or skirt top in order to maintain it or the latter.

It includes a leather strap 1 composed in the example of three thicknesses glued together: two strips of high quality leather 1a and 1b sewn along their longitudinal edges and an intermediate thickness 1c of untreated surface leather.

At one end, the belt is provided with a metal buckle 2 of a type known per se, which is called upon to cooperate with holes such as 3 made in the strap 1 in the vicinity of the other end.

According to the present invention, the loop 2 is integral with the front end of two tabs 4 and 5 which each consist of a thickness of leather of the same quality as the thicknesses 1a and 1b of the strap. These tabs 4 and 5 are made from a strip of leather which is folded back on itself to form two identical strands and is sewn to its front part by means of a transverse seam 6 in order to retain the loop 2 and its barb.

Another transverse seam 7 is made to link the two tabs 4 and 5 at the back of the seam 6. This seam 7 serves to retain a loop 8. This seam 7 and the seam 6 also serve to fix the front edges of two elastic ribbons 9 and 10, the edges of the two ribbons being inserted between the tabs so as to be cousins therewith. These ribbons are in particular ribbons braided from elastodiene yarns covered with polyester yarns; such ribbons provide both an appropriate elongation (extensibility of the order of 100%) and an effective recall effect.

The two elastic ribbons 9 and 10 as well fixed between the tongues overlap a trigger guard 11 that comprises the strap 1 at the front of an opening 12 and are fixed to said strap at the rear edge of this opening. This fixing is carried out by inserting the rear edges of the ribbons between the thicknesses of leather 1 and 2 of the strap and stitching of the assembly (stitching 13). The two elastic ribbons 9 and 10 are constituted by the two strands of a length folded in half; a safety clip 18 is arranged at the rear of the seam 13 near the fold.

At the back of this seam 13, the tabs 9 and 10 cover the strap 1 for a few centimeters (about 4 to 7 cm). In this part, the latter is provided with an oblong slot 14 extending along its longitudinal axis. to act as a slide.

In the rest position of the strips 9 and 10, this light 14 is entirely masked by the tabs 4 and 5.

These tabs are connected in their rear part by a connecting member 15 which plays the role of slide and passes through the oblong slot 14 with a clearance allowing it to slide therein.

In the example, this connecting member 15 is composed of a screw 16 and a nut 17. The screw has a head 16a applied on one side against one of the tongues (5) and a threaded rod 16b which passes through a bore of the tongue and is screwed into the hollow threaded rod 17b of the nut. This comprises a head 17a which is applied against the other tongue 4, its hollow rod 17b passing through a bore in this tongue 4. This rod 17b of the nut is provided with a diameter corresponding to the width of the oblong opening 14, with a play allowing the sliding; in addition, the screws 16 and nut 17 are dimensioned to lock relative to each other while preserving a play in the thickness direction so that the tongues can move with gentle friction against the strap.

As illustrated in FIG. 5, a tensile force on the buckle 2 relative to the strap puts the elastic ribbons 9 and 10 in extension and determines an elongation of the belt until the connecting member 15 acting as a slide comes to abut in front of the oblong slot 14. The various means of the belt are preferably adapted so that the possible gain in length is of the order of a size. Thus the wearer has at all times a belt perfectly adapted to his body size.

Figure 6 shows the belt according to the invention in use. Its traditional leather appearance is that of a high-end belt. It should be noted that the arrangement of the elastic front ribbons 9 and 10 and the tabs 4 and 5, combined with the rear guide by the connecting member 15 in the slot 14, ensures perfect holding of the belt, with usual behavior , without risk of twisting, twisting or other deformation.
