  • the piston ring device 1 according to the invention is originally different from the traditional solutions in respect of its construction and way of functioning. Its main advantage is that at relatively low expenditure, with guaranteed long life it offers reli ⁇ able selaing between the piston 2 and the cylinder 4. Further essential advantage is that it prevents "knockout" of the piston ring device 1 and the piston 2 becoming “stuck", thus saving substantial expenses for the users of the engine.

Abstract

Segment de piston pour machines à pistons alternatifs, principalement les moteurs à combustion interne, comportant des bagues à fente disposées par autotensionnage dans une rainure annulaire ménagée dans le piston et pourvu d'une surface cylindrique qui rentre en contact étroit avec la paroi du cylindre. Le segment de piston (1) associé à l'unique rainure annulaire (3) du piston (2) est caractérisé en ce qu'il est divisé et constitué d'au moins deux bagues à fente (10, 11, 23) séparées, intégrées, accouplées et sollicitées directement au niveau de leurs surfaces coniques (12, 13, 24, 25) ou indirectement par une plaque (28) (cale d'épaisseur) supplémentaire qui est précontrainte et principalement élastique, lesdites bagues remplissant la rainure annulaire (3) dans le sens axial et de façon hermétique.
