Abstract
Un segment de piston de compression (3) de conception améliorée, destiné à être utilisé dans des moteurs à mouvement alternatif à combustion interne, comprend une surface périphérique (6) d'engagement dans le cylindre présentant une zone latérale (7) faisant face à la zone de combustion du cylindre (4) du moteur, ladite zone latérale (7) formant une couche dont la dureté ou la résistance à l'usure est supérieure à celle du reste de la surface périphérique. La texture de ladite surface périphérique restante présente, du moins durant l'utilisation initiale, une multitude de petites zones de contact s'usant plus rapidement que ladite zone latérale (7), l'alignement du segment de piston (3) étant assuré grâce à une résistance à l'usure du matériau constituant la gorge (8) du segment de piston supérieure à celle du reste du piston (2).
