Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a protective cap for the viewing part of an angle mirror in a combat vehicle with a covering which leaves the viewing opening free and which contains a soft plastic foam.
Such protective caps, which are shown in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment, are known per se. The protective cap is intended to prevent the viewing part of the angle mirror projecting into the narrow interior of the combat vehicle from being damaged or the crew members of the fighting vehicle being able to injure themselves on this viewing part. For this reason, the protective caps generally contain a soft plastic foam for cushioning. The disadvantage must be accepted, that the already tight interior of a combat vehicle is further reduced by the relatively thick padding in the protective cap.
The invention has for its object to provide a protective cap of the type mentioned in such a way that as little usable space as possible is lost inside the combat vehicle and additional storage options for operating elements are created.
This object is achieved according to the invention with the features from the characterizing part of patent claim 1. Advantageous further developments of the protective cap according to the invention are described in the subclaims.
The basic idea of the invention is to integrate parts of the operating elements and the electrical devices that are required in the combat vehicle, for example in connection with viewing devices, into the padded protective cap and thus at least partially utilize the space required by the protective cap for another purpose and thereby reducing the lack of space in the ergonomically sensible vicinity of operators in the combat vehicle. In this case, it can be useful to arrange operating elements in the particularly easily accessible parts of the protective cap, while in other parts that are less accessible, such as the rear, electrical devices, for example circuit boards, can be arranged. The edges of the viewing opening of the protective cap are particularly preferred for the arrangement of operating elements, a direction-oriented arrangement (right / left) in the easily visible area of the operator having particular advantages.
The parts of the protective cap in which operating elements and / or electrical devices are integrated can either be connected in one piece to the rest of the protective cap, i.e. the protective cap is shaped corresponding to the desired elements or they can be designed as separate units which are connected to the main part of the protective cap, for example via push-button connections, which e.g. offers the advantage of a retrofit option.
The operating elements and devices can also be pressed into the protective cap according to the principle of the snap connection, in order to obtain easy interchangeability.
The arrangement of the known protective cap and an exemplary embodiment of a protective cap according to the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
