Abstract

PCT No. PCT/DE89/00736 Sec. 371 Date May 29, 1991 Sec. 102(e) Date May 29, 1991 PCT Filed Nov. 29, 1989 PCT Pub. No. WO90/06071 PCT Pub. Date Jun. 14, 1990.Using rollers having roller members which are adjacent on both sides to a center flexible longitudinal section capable of remaining in a respective bent position and have at each end an outer longitudinal section, previously perm or water-waved (pretreated) hair sections of a strand of hair are spirally rolled up, starting with the tips of the hair, first onto one outer longitudinal section, continuing then also onto the center longitudinal section, and finally the previously untreated hair section (hairline) is rolled substantially onto the other outer longitudinal section. The one outer longitudinal section is then bent approximately normally relative to the other outer longitudinal section such that the one outer longitudinal section and a portion of the center longitudinal section with the rolled-up previously treated hair section project substantially vertically upwardly from the head. Intensive-action perm or water-wave liquid is then applied only to the previously untreated hair section (hairline) rolled up substantially onto the other outer longitudinal section. The roller member of a roller (1) particularly suited for carrying out the process has a first longitudinal section (2) made of a substantially rigid material, which a fixing element (9, 10) is arranged on or engages. The first longitudinal section (2) is connected at one end to a second flexible longitudinal section (3) made of a flexible member (5) of a viscoelastic plastic, which flexible member (5) is arranged around a wire core (4).

Description

The invention relates to a method for applying a permanent or water wave to hair that has previously been treated with permanent or water wave, using curlers, the bodies of which have an outer longitudinal section adjacent to a middle, flexible longitudinal section that remains in the respective bent position, whereby one strand of hair, starting in each case with the hair tips, is wound onto the winding body, then the winding body is fixed in a rotationally fixed manner with respect to adjacent hair curlers and / or the head, and then a permanent or water wave liquid is applied to the wound hair. The invention further relates to a hair curler which is said to be particularly suitable for carrying out this method. Here, the invention is based on a known hair curler for permanent or water waves, with a winding body, optionally provided with perforations, on the outer surface of which a strand of hair can be wound up and with a fixing element acting on the winding body, with which the winding body with the strand of hair wound thereon compared to adjacent ones Hair curlers and / or the head is rotatably fixed.

In the case of one type of hair curler for permanent or water waves, the winding body as a whole consists of essentially rigid material, usually plastic. After a strand of hair (passé) separated from the other hair is wound up by turning the winding body about its axis on its outer surface up to the hairline, the winding body must with the strand of hair wound on it can be fixed against loosening. There are different types of fixing elements for this purpose. In a known permanent or Wasserwellwickel (DE-PS 25 01 935) are provided at one or both ends of the winding body two axially spaced flanges with the same axial thickness and an annular groove between the two flanges, the width of which is slightly smaller than the thickness of the flange. To fix the curler, a flange of the adjacent roll is pressed in under clamping action.

In other known hair curlers for producing permanent and water waves, the winding body has grid-like openings. A needle serves as the fixing element. After a strand of hair has been wound onto the winding body, the needle is inserted through the wound strand of hair and the openings in the winding body. It can then be inserted into the openings of an already fixed adjacent hair curler, or it can be supported on the head with its end.

Furthermore, hair curlers are also known which have at one or both ends a fixing lever which can be rotated about the longitudinal axis of the winding body, a spring-loaded ratchet being provided between the latter and the winding body. After the strand of hair has been wound onto the winding body, the fixing mist is supported on the head and the spring-loaded ratchet prevents the hair curler from turning back.

In another type of curlers, the winding body consists of a central wire core and a flexible and flexible body surrounding the wire core made of visco-elastic plastic (DE-PS 35 39 803 and DE-OS 32 34 672).

In this type of curlers, the strand of hair is wound on a part of the same with the bobbin stretched so that another part remains free. When the winding up to the hairline is finished, the hair-free part of the winding body is bent over and the bent part is then supported on the head or an adjacent winding. The central wire core holds the bent part in the bent position.

In all of these curlers, the part of the winding body that carries the wound strand of hair lies flat on the head. As a result, when the permanent wave or water wave liquid is applied, the entire wound strand of hair from the tips of the hair to the hairline is soaked with the treatment liquid. This is quite correct for hair that has not had a permanent or water wave before. In the case of hair that has already had one or more permanent wave or water wave treatments, the hair structure at the ends of the hair and in the middle part of the hair is damaged by repeated treatment with permanent or water wave liquid. At the hairline, on the other hand, which now has regrown straight hair sections, there is no damage to the hair structure, since the regrown hair sections had not previously been treated with permanent or water-wave liquid. The damage to the hair structure manifests itself in the fact that the hair at the tips and in the middle piece lose their shine, become frizzy and also do not form beautiful curls.

The invention is based on the object of demonstrating a method for applying a permanent or water wave to previously permanent or water wave-treated hair of the type mentioned in the implementation of which Damage to the hair structure of the previously permanent or water wave treated hair is largely avoided even with repeated permanent or water wave treatment and is easy to carry out. The invention is also based on the object of providing a hair roller which is particularly suitable for carrying out this method.

The method according to the invention consists in the fact that hair sections of the strand of hair which have been previously treated with permanent wave or (pre-treated) water, starting with the hair tips, first on one outer longitudinal section, then progressively also on the middle longitudinal section and finally the non-pretreated hair section (hairline) in essentially helically wound onto the other outer longitudinal section, that one then bends the one longitudinal section approximately at a right angle with respect to the other longitudinal section such that the one longitudinal section and part of the central longitudinal section with the pretreated hair sections protruding from the head essentially vertically upward, and that one then only applies permanent or water-waving liquid to the hair section (hairline) that has an intensive effect and is essentially wound onto the other longitudinal section.

By first winding the pretreated hair sections of a strand of hair and then also the regrown, chemically untreated hair section onto the various longitudinal sections of the winding body when carrying out the new process, pretreated and non-pretreated sections come to rest at different locations on the winding body. By bending one of them vertically Longitudinal section compared to the other longitudinal section, the bending taking place in such a way that the one longitudinal section protrudes substantially vertically upward from the head, so that the hair sections which have already been pretreated lie clearly above the area in which the non-pretreated hair sections are located. It is therefore easy to differentiate between pretreated and non-pretreated hair sections and intensive treatment liquid is then only applied to the non-pretreated hair sections lying directly on the head, while the longitudinal sections which carry the pretreated hair sections protrude from the treatment liquid and with it do not come into contact. Treatment liquid is understood here to mean a permanent or water wave liquid with a relatively intensive effect. Since the pretreated hair sections are located above the area of the untreated hair sections, treatment liquid is also prevented from flowing from the untreated hair sections to the pretreated hair sections. There is also no application of intensively acting treatment liquid to those hair sections which are located on the longitudinal sections angled upwards. This prevents hair sections that have been permanently or waterwell-treated from coming into contact with intensively acting treatment liquid. Damage to hair is thus avoided with certainty. On the other hand, the regrown straight hair sections, which had not previously been treated with permanent or water wave liquid, are soaked in the desired manner with the intensive treatment liquid.

The process can also be carried out in such a way that the pretreated hair sections, which are essentially on the vertically protruding longitudinal sections are wound up, a mild permanent or water-wave liquid, or possibly also a care liquid. The mild treatment liquid can be used to gently activate the remaining perm in the pretreated hair tips and the middle section of the hair, if this is necessary. But you can also apply a care product to the pretreated hair sections. If necessary, it would also be possible to apply a blocking liquid to the pretreated hair sections, which prevents relatively thin liquid treatment liquid applied to the non-pretreated hair sections from penetrating into the pretreated hair sections by capillary action. This blocking liquid also prevents pretreated hair sections from coming into contact with intensively acting treatment liquid if it is accidentally applied to pretreated hair sections when it is applied to untreated hair sections.

In principle, known hair curlers would also be suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention, the winding bodies of which over their entire length consist of a central wire core and a flexible and flexible body made of viscous, elastic plastic surrounding the wire core (DE-PS 35 39 803 and DE-OS 32 34 672) exists. If such a winding body were used, the strand of hair would have to be wound helically over almost the entire length of the winding body, an angle of a part of the winding body on which no hair is wound so that it is supported on the head or an adjacent hair curler and another longitudinal section on which the pretreated hair sections are so bent that it is essentially protrudes vertically upwards from the head. However, since this handling requires some skill in both winding and bending, the invention is also based on the task of creating a hair roller that is particularly suitable for carrying out the method.

Starting from a hair curler for permanent and water waves of the type mentioned above, this is achieved in that the winding body has a first longitudinal section consisting of essentially rigid material, on which the fixing element is arranged or engages, and in that this first, rigid longitudinal section one end is connected to a second, flexible longitudinal section, which consists of a flexible body arranged around a central wire core, made of a viscoelastic plastic, so that it remains in the bent position after bending.

With this new hair curler, hair that has already undergone permanent or water wave treatment once or several times, starting with the hair tips, is wound on the flexible longitudinal section of the winding body. The middle section of the hair is also wound on the flexible longitudinal section, with the exception of the straight hairline. The smooth hairline, which has not previously been permanently or water wave treated, is then wound up on the rigid first longitudinal section of the winding body. After the strand of hair is wound up to the hairline, the winding body is fixed by means of the fixing element with respect to adjacent hair curlers and / or the head, so that it is held in a rotationally fixed manner. Then the flexible longitudinal section with the wound on it, which has previously been treated with permanent or water waves Section of the strand of hair bent vertically upwards. The permanent or water wave liquid is then applied only to the hairline wound on the rigid longitudinal section. On the other hand, permanent or water wave liquid is not applied to those hair sections that are on the flexible longitudinal section bent upwards. So that the treatment liquid does not flow as a result of capillary action from the hair sections to be treated into the hair sections not to be treated, it is expedient to use a permanent or water wave liquid with a correspondingly higher viscosity, as a result of which the capillary action is avoided or at least reduced. The new hair curler therefore has the essential advantage that permanent or water wave liquid can be kept away from hair sections that have previously been subjected to permanent or water wave treatment. In addition, the new hair curler is characterized by a very simple and quick handling.

The hair curler 1 shown in Figure 1 for permanent and water waves consists of a first, essentially rigid longitudinal section 2, which is preferably made of plastic, and a second, flexible longitudinal section 3. Both longitudinal sections 2, 3 are firmly connected. FIGS. 1-4 each show the hair curlers in the extended, unbent position. The flexible longitudinal section 3 has a wire core 4, which can optionally also be coated with plastic. The wire core 4 is coated with a flexible and flexible body 5 made of viscoelastic plastic. This can be a soft foam based on polyethylene or polyurethane, the surface of the body 5 should be closed so that no permanent or water-wave liquid penetrates into it. The flexible longitudinal section 3 is designed in such a way that it remains in the bent position after bending. An end cap 6 made of plastic can then be arranged at the free end of the flexible longitudinal section 3. The flexible section 3 is expediently cylindrical in the exemplary embodiments shown. However, other cross-sectional shapes are also possible. It is also possible to design the flexible longitudinal section 3 such that it widens conically towards its free end.

To connect the flexible longitudinal section 3 to the rigid longitudinal section 2, the latter is provided with a recess 7 into which one end 3a of the flexible longitudinal section 3 engages. The end 3a is expediently glued into this recess 7. However, it can also be held by clamping force or positive locking. If the flexible longitudinal section 3 is cylindrical, then the recess 7 is expediently cylindrical.

The rigid longitudinal section 2 can be provided with openings 8. It serves to attack or to attach a fixing element. In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, two flanges 9 with the same axial thickness are arranged at an axial distance from one another at the free end of the rigid longitudinal section 2, and an annular groove 10 is provided between the flanges, the width of which is slightly smaller than the thickness of a flange. A flange 9 'of an adjacent winding can be pressed into this annular groove 10 with a clamping effect. In this way, a hair roller 1 can be fixed in a rotationally fixed manner relative to the adjacent hair roller. Further details on the design of the flanges 9 and the annular groove 10 are described in DE-PS 25 01 935.

Appropriately, the length L2 of the flexible longitudinal section 3 is approximately twice as long as the length L1 of the rigid longitudinal section 2. However, since it is essentially only a question of the rigid longitudinal section 2 carrying the fixing element or being suitable for attacking the fixing element, the 1 and 2 illustrated embodiments of the rigid longitudinal section 2 also have a shorter length.

Die vorstehende Beschreibung trifft deshalb sinngemäß auch für die in Figur 2 - 4 dargestellten Ausführungsbeispiele zu.In the exemplary embodiments described below and shown in FIGS. 2-4, parts have the same function each with the same reference numerals as used in the description of the embodiment shown in Figure 1. The above description therefore also applies analogously to the exemplary embodiments shown in FIGS. 2-4.

In the embodiment shown in Figure 2, the two ends of the flexible longitudinal section 3 are each connected to a rigid longitudinal section 2. The connection can be made in a manner similar to that described above. The design of the longitudinal sections 2 in the embodiment shown in FIG. 2 corresponds to the longitudinal sections 2 of the previously described embodiment. However, they can also be designed like the longitudinal sections 2a or 2b of the exemplary embodiments shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.

In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 3, the rigid longitudinal section 2a has grid-like openings 11. This rigid longitudinal section 2a can also consist of plastic. The connection to the flexible longitudinal section 3 can be made in the manner described above. A needle 12 is provided as the fixing element and can be inserted through the openings. This needle 12 can be used to fix a hair curler after winding up a strand of hair through the openings 11 of this hair curler and can also be inserted into the corresponding openings in the rigid longitudinal section of an adjacent hair curler. In this way, both hair curlers are fixed in rotation. However, it is also possible to insert the needle 12 only through the openings 11 of a longitudinal section 2a and to have the end of the needle rest on the head. In this case too, the hair curler 1a is secured against rotation.

In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 4, a fixing lever 13, which extends radially to the longitudinal axis A and rotates about the longitudinal axis, is provided on the free end of the rigid longitudinal section 2b. A ratchet 15, 16 loaded by the spring 14 is provided between the fixing lever and the longitudinal section 2. The ratchet consists of a plurality of teeth 16 provided at the free end of the rigid longitudinal section 2b and a wedge 15 provided on the fixing lever 13 and fitting into the tooth gaps 15. The spring 14 presses the wedge 15 into the tooth gaps between the teeth 16 and thus the Fixing lever 13 secured against rotation with respect to the longitudinal section 2b. When winding up a strand of hair, rotation of the fixing lever 13 with respect to the longitudinal section 2b is possible with some resistance. The teeth 16 can also be sawtooth-shaped, so that the rotation of the fixing lever 13 is facilitated in one direction and blocked in the other. After a strand of hair is wound up to the hairline, the free end of the fixing lever 13 is supported on the head and thus secures the curler 1b against rotation.

The rigid longitudinal sections 2, 2a, 2b can have any cross-sections and they can also correspond in the longitudinal direction to the shapes of conventional hair curlers, for example cylindrical, conical.
The handling of the new hair curler is described below with reference to FIG. 5. It is assumed here that hair that has already undergone one or more permanent or water wave treatments should be treated again with a permanent or water wave. Such a new treatment is necessary because the hair has grown back to a length of about 4 - 8 cm after the previous permanent or water wave treatment are, depending on how long ago the previous treatment was. This regrown part of the hair at the hairline is smooth, while the middle section and the hair tips are still curled from the previous treatment. As a result, these previously treated hair sections do not need to be softened and reshaped again by applying a permanent or water-wave liquid. In order to avoid damage to the hair structure of the previously treated hair sections, it is rather advisable that these previously treated hair sections do not come into contact again with permanent or water wave liquid.

In order to achieve this, one starts to wind up the hair tips S at the free end of the flexible longitudinal section 3 and then also winds the previously treated central section M spirally or, more precisely, helically onto the flexible longitudinal section 3. This winding up on the flexible longitudinal section 3 is continued until the entire length of hair, which has previously been permanently or water wave treated, is wound up on the flexible section 3 and only the hair section A with straight hair is present at the hairline. This hair section A, which has not previously undergone permanent or water wave treatment, is finally wound up essentially on the rigid longitudinal section 2. It is also possible to wind part of the hair section A onto the flexible longitudinal section 3 in the vicinity of the rigid longitudinal section 2 if the rigid longitudinal section 2 should not be sufficient to wind up the straight hair section A. After the entire hair length up to the hairline is wound on the hair curler 1, this is fixed to the adjacent hair curler 1 'which has already been wound up. this happens in the manner previously described in that one of the flanges 9 is pressed into the annular groove 10 'of the adjacent winding 1'. Then that part of the flexible longitudinal section 3, on which the previously treated hair sections S and M are wound, is bent upwards at right angles, as shown in FIG. 5, left. The flexible longitudinal sections 3 with the hair sections S and M wound thereon thus project vertically from the head. The permanent or water wave liquid is then applied only to the previously untreated hair section A, which is essentially on the rigid longitudinal section 2 and possibly a part of the flexible longitudinal section. By bending the flexible longitudinal sections 3 vertically upwards it is achieved that the previously treated hair sections S and M protrude from the treatment liquid or do not come into contact with it. In order to prevent treatment liquid from entering the hair sections M and S by capillary action, it is expedient to use a permanent or water-wave liquid with a higher, approximately gel-like viscosity. The new hair curler can also be used for coloring hair tips. In this case too, the hair is wound up as described above and the flexible longitudinal section is bent upwards. In this case, coloring compound is then applied to those hair sections which are located on the longitudinal section bent upwards.
