Definitions

  • the present invention relates to improvements to roller skates comprising suspension systems.
  • roller skates and skateboards of the type on which the user places both feet on the board, the progression of which he directs by tilting the board.
  • roller skates will hereinafter be referred to generically as “roller skates”.
  • the invention consists of improvements made to the suspension device, as well as an additional braking device, the latter being applicable only to roller skates in the usual sense of the term.
  • the steering system of the front and rear undercarriages of the roller skate according to the invention comprises, at the level of each train, an articulated arm which comes, after shock absorption when the arm returns to its normal position, abuts against an added part on the underside of the plate and provided with a buffer see in FR-A- 2 610 208.
  • This damping mechanism initially provided with a metal buffer, has proved in use to have the double disadvantage to be noisy and, by impact against the articulated arm, to cause wear of the surfaces in contact with the pad and the articulated arm.
  • the object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks, by providing means for limiting the intensity of the shocks, avoiding wear of the contact surface of the articulated arm, absorbing the shock in return and allowing easy replacement of the tampon.
  • the present invention applies to a roller skate of the type comprising a shoe, fixed on a sole integral with a plate comprising at the front a buffer brake and comprising front and rear undercarriages equipped with a steering system wheels according to the main patent and comprising a piece attached to the lower part of the plate and provided at its two ends with buffers absorbing the shock due to the articulated arms when the latter return to position.
  • the invention consists on the one hand in providing removable pads inserted in housings machined in the insert and on the other hand in providing an additional braking device at the rear of the plate cooperating with the front buffer brake of the other pad.
  • roller skate comprising a shoe (1), fixed on the sole (2) secured to a plate (3) and comprising at the front a brake (4 ) attached to the plate (3).
  • the shoe further comprises front and rear undercarriages (5) and (5 ′) respectively, equipped with wheels (6) and (6 ′) respectively, with a steering system (7) and (7 ′) of the wheels and a movable axle (8) and (8 ′) provided with a suspension system (9) and (9 ′) respectively.
  • Each suspension system (9, 9 ′) is fixed on the one hand, in the central part (10, 10 ′) of the movable axle, in line with the axis of the wheels (6 and 6 ′) and on the other hand, is guided by a centering barrel (17) placed in the plate (3).
  • Each movable axle (8, 8 ′) is equipped with a steering system (7, 7 ′), fixed to one end of the plate by pivoting means (11, 11 ′), while the other end is secured to the orientation plate (12, 12 ′) by elastic means.
  • the damping mechanism is integral with an insert (20), fixed to the lower part of the plate (3) and provided, at its two ends, with buffers 45, inserted in housings (43) partially occupied by springs (44).
  • the additional braking mechanism is secured to the rear part of the plate (3) by an axis (40) passing through said plate. It consists of a plate (42) abutting against an elastic device (41), housed in a machined cavity in the rear face of the plate.
  • Said damping system is composed of a helical spring (44), housed at the bottom d '' a cylindrical cavity (43) machined in the insert (20) on the lower part of the plate (3) and a pad (45) inserted behind the spring (44) in the cavity (43) and provided with a head projecting outside, against which abuts the face of the articulated arm (21 ′) of the rear axle.
  • the insert (20) can be secured to the plate (3) by any means, in particular by screwing (not shown), to make it removable and easily allow the change of the springs (44) and the buffers (45) .
  • the buffer (45) will, in a preferred embodiment, be made of a synthetic material such as hard plastic, rather than metal, in order to avoid any oxidation and marking of the surface of the articulated arm (21 ′) coming in contact.
  • FIG 3 there is shown the main part (42) of the braking system, consisting of a metal plate, generally trapezoidal, rounded at the corners of the large base (50).
  • This base (50) has a groove (51) parallel to said base, the concave part of which is directed towards the wheel (6 ′) opposite the rear undercarriage (5 ′).
  • This grooving (51) has two functions: on the one hand ensure the necessary rigidity to the plate (42) and on the other, form two bosses (51a and 51b) over the entire length of the base, for come into contact with the wheels (6 ′) over a relatively large area during braking (see Figures 2 and 4).
  • the plate (42) further comprises two wings (49) pierced with orifices (48), formed by bending at 90 ° from the plate.
  • the plate (42) is rotatably secured to the rear part of the plate (3) by means of a threaded rod (46) passing through the bore (40) of the plate and is held in place by a nut (47).
  • An elastic device (41) housed in a cavity machined in the plate (3) and projecting out of the plate, serves as a stop for the return of the plate (42) to the vertical position, after braking .
  • This elastic device (41) is offset downward relative to the axis of rotation (40) of the plate (42). It can be constituted either by a rubber cylinder, or by a helical spring.
  • This additional braking device (42) cooperates with the conventional buffer brake system (4) as follows: when the user wants to brake, he simultaneously uses the rear additional device (42) of one of the pads and the buffer brake (4) on the other pad, which it weighs on the rear face of the blade (42) in order to ensure contact of the two bosses (51 a and 51 b ) provided in the region of the base (50) of the blade against the rear wheels (6 ′). By weighing more or less on the blade with the brake (4 ′) of the other pad, the user acts on the intensity of the braking force applied to the wheels 6 ′.
