Description

The invention relates to an air-cooled condenser for condensing the laundry moisture transferred into the process air from a household tumble dryer, the condenser containing hollow plates stacked at a distance from one another and during operation, on the one hand, through the plate cavities of cooling air and, on the other hand, through the plates -Distance spaces essentially in cross flow to the cooling air through which process air flows.

Such a capacitor is known from German utility model 83 18 395. The heat exchanger of this condenser contains stacked plates, which are bent according to DE-OS 30 27 900 from aluminum sheet and are provided with ribbing in the cooling air duct. Instead of such plates, usually flat hollow extruded profiles are used, of which sections are joined to form a plate according to the above-mentioned embodiments. The stacked panels are molded into a package and held at a distance from each other by plastic molded parts attached to the side and glued with sealing compound. On the one hand, however, these plates are very expensive in terms of the material used fes (aluminum) and in terms of their manufacture. On the other hand, the assembly of the plates and their sealing attachment in the separate side parts is very complex and prone to errors in terms of the tightness between the cooling air and the process air channel.

The invention has for its object to provide a construction for a capacitor mentioned in the introduction, in which the sealing problems mentioned above are avoided and the manufacture of the capacitor, in particular the assembly of its individual parts into a package, is suitable for fully automated production.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the plates are essentially made of a hollow lattice-like plastic frame with the condensation surfaces forming plastic films, which sealingly abut on all surfaces separating a connection between cavities and spaces. Such a construction enables the automatic production of the plates from molded plastic parts and the automatic placement of plastic films and their connection to the frame. The individual plates can also be automatically stacked and connected to one another in a suitable manner.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the frames in the cavity have a plurality of partition walls aligned in the flow direction of the cooling air, the height of which is equal to the frame thickness and the surfaces facing the condensation surface serve as support surfaces for the foils. This gives the plastic films enough contact surfaces so that the risk of curling or folding of the films must be largely avoided. According to the embodiment of the invention, the foils should lie sealingly on the support surfaces. This prevents the foils from fluttering in the channels when the current is strong and thereby lifting off from the support surfaces.

In a particularly advantageous manner, the foils of each plate can consist of one piece which is placed around a frame edge oriented in the flow direction of the cooling air. This shape simplifies production in that the films are pulled off a roll, placed on an outer frame edge, folded over on the opposite frame edge, returned as a condensation surface to the first frame edge and can be cut off there.

Depending on the selected pairing of plastics for the frame and for the foils, embodiments of the invention are suitable in which the foils are welded or glued to its material at the contact surfaces to the frame or in which the foils are extrusion-coated with its material on the contact surfaces to the frame are.

Advantageously, the frame moldings comprise the side cheeks surrounding the inflow and outflow openings of the cooling air, which are connected in one piece to the spacer strips which determine the distance to the top or bottom plate and extend over the entire width of the cooling air cavities. The spacer strips integrated into the frame molding reduce the number of individual parts required for a capacitor according to the invention. Furthermore, the number of sealing surfaces can be reduced. For this purpose, it is particularly advantageous that the stacked plates are sealingly connected to one another at the contact surfaces between the one longitudinal edge of the side cheeks and the free longitudinal edge of the spacer strips. Such a connection results in a compact plate stack as a package.

Depending on the plastic used, the sealing connection can also consist of an adhesive or a weld.

In a special way, the invention can advantageously be further developed in that the plastic films are pre-stretched before being connected to the plastic frame. Such pre-stretched films (shrink films) are commercially available and are always used where a firm position of the films is required after heat treatment. This use has the essential advantage in the condenser according to the invention that after the heat treatment shrinked films no longer contain any risk of wrinkling, which would lead to the accumulation of condensate during operation of the tumble dryer and reduce the heat transfer.

A capacitor according to the invention can best be handled in practice in that the stacked plates form a block, the top and bottom of which are covered by a plastic cover plate at a distance from the next stacked plate. As a result, the plastic foils sensitive condensation surfaces.

In a particularly advantageous manner, the entire package of stacked plates and plastic cover plates can be held together by at least two tensioning straps wrapping around the package. Such straps are known for example as parcel straps, have a high tension and can be attached automatically. Special sealing measures on the contact surfaces of the stacked plates and plastic cover plates would be unnecessary.

The invention is explained below using the exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. Show it:

The tumble dryer shown as an exemplary embodiment in FIG. 1 has a housing 10 with an internal drying space 11. Between this and the rear wall of the dryer there is a supply air duct 12 in which the air is heated by means of a heating device 13 and by a fan 14 via a grille wall 15 is blown into the drying room At the front of the dryer there is a loading opening 16 for loading the laundry parts to be dried. The loading opening is then closed by a door 17.

The process air blown by the blower 14 through the drying chamber 11 and the annular gap between the door and the outer frame of the loading opening 16 enters the exhaust air duct 19 through the fluff filter 18. The Pro arrives from there zeßluft in the air-cooled condenser 2. The condenser is shown partially broken and contains heat-conducting plates 21 with cavities which are traversed by fresh cooling air across the process air. The process air is shown on the warm side by a solid arrow and on the cold side by a dashed, streaked arrow. The warm and moisture-laden process air releases heat and moisture from the surfaces of the plates 21 and flows to the blower 14 in a cooled state. The moisture collects at the outlet of the condenser and flows off to the condensate collecting container 22, from which the condensate can be pumped out or removed manually.

At the front of the dryer housing 10 there is also a door or flap 23 which can be opened by the operator for the purpose of cleaning the condenser 2. Before cleaning, the plates 21 can be pulled out of the condenser 2 as a package and cleaned outside.

According to the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the plates 21 contain a uniform plastic molding. This molded part is formed from two side walls 24, which together with end strips 25 form the support frame for the film 26 shown in FIG. 3. The side walls 24 contain inflow openings 27 and outflow openings 28 for the cooling air. To support the condensation surface of the film 26 drawn onto the support frame on both sides, partition walls 29 are also provided which run parallel to the end strips 25 and are essentially aligned in the flow direction of the cooling air and are as high as the entire frame is thick. These dividing walls 29 can deviate from the planar shape in a manner not shown here regularly or irregularly in order to swirl the cooling air flowing through the cooling air channels delimited by them. As a result, the cooling air comes into closer contact with the condensation surfaces formed by the film.

As previously explained, the plastic frames 24, 25 with their partitions 29 form the cavities for the cooling air. The process air, on the other hand, sweeps across the cooling air over the condensation surfaces formed by the drawn-on plastic film 26. For this purpose, the plates each form spacing spaces which are maintained by spacer strips 30 on the undersides of the cheeks 24.

These spacer strips sit on the respective upper edge of the side cheek 24 of the plate below. Between the spacer strips 30 arranged on both sides on the one hand and the underside of the upper plate and the upper side of the lower plate on the other hand, a space is formed which guides the process air.

The film 26 can, as shown in Fig. 3, consist of one piece and folded around a face bar 25 so that it lies with its imaginary line network 31 on the respective contact surfaces of the plastic molding (Fig. 2). The longitudinal lines 32 lie on the upper or lower long narrow sides 33 of the side walls 24 and the transverse lines 34 of the line network 31 on the support surfaces 35 of the partition walls 29. The materials of the film and the frame can be welded or glued to one another at these contact surfaces. Another fastening option is also that the film material is at least partially extrusion-coated by the material of the frame along the contact surfaces. This would mean inserting the foils into the injection mold in the manufacturing process for such a plate before the plastic frame is injection molded. 3, the plastic films can also be present separately for each condensation surface.

Plates produced in this way can be stacked in accordance with the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 2. The number of stacked plates in one package can be varied; For use in household tumble dryers, a number of nine plates stacked one on top of the other has proven to be sufficient, starting from a base area available for the condenser.

Such a package of stacked plates can become a uniformly manageable part by sealingly connecting the individual plates to one another at their surfaces in contact with one another - in the present example these are the lower longitudinal strips of the spacer strips 30 and the upper longitudinal strips of the side walls 24. Such a sealing connection can consist of an adhesive or a weld. However, the contact areas can also be through mechanical pressure of the plates become tight. However, an additional application of a sealing compound is recommended because the seal between the cooling air and the process air channels should be as ideal as possible. Such a mechanical connection can be achieved by clamping the side panels and spacer strips stacked one above the other. Since for the mechanical protection of the top and bottom foils of a joined plate pack, a plastic cover plate is advantageously provided at a distance from the next stacked plate on its top and on its underside, such a plate pack could be used for the mechanical connection of the plates to one another by at least two Package wrapping straps to be held together. The distance of the additional plastic cover plate on the top should then be maintained by means of separate spacer strips. On the underside of the plate pack there is a spacer strip 30 on each side anyway, on the free narrow side of which the lower plastic cover plate can rest.

The plastic films attached to the frame can advantageously be pre-stretched according to an embodiment of the invention before they are processed. Since such plastic frames are subject to unwanted deformations after their injection molding process (warping, shrinkage, thermal expansion), folds could form in the film glued to the frame, in which condensate collects, which hinders the transition from the process air to the cooling air. Such a pre-stretched, so-called shrink film would avoid this effect because it tensions itself automatically when the capacitor is put into operation for the first time. This measure ensures that the film is taut and wrinkle-free in any correct operating mode, from which the condensate can flow freely.
