Abstract
Description
The invention is based on a household tumble dryer with a condenser arranged in the process air circuit, which contains a plurality of stacked heat exchanger plates with cavities which are in a cooling circuit which is as hermetically sealed as possible against the process air circuit, with the respectively assigned cavity enclosing, accessible from an operating side of the dryer from the front edges of the plates against the process air flow.
Such a dryer is known from DE-PS 30 27 900. The process air upstream side of the heat exchanger plates is exposed to an increased degree to the action of fluff which is carried along in the process air stream from the laundry drum of the dryer. The fluff is deposited with the condensate on the relatively cool heat exchanger plates. While the condensate flows off the plates in the direction of flow, the fluff mainly sticks to the leading edge and in the front area of each individual plate. Gradually, a thick felt of deposited laundry fluff is created, which worsens the heat transfer from the process air to the condenser surface, so that condensation hardly takes place in this area. The result is a decreasing condenser performance. In the known tumble dryer it is provided that the entire block of heat exchanger plates can be made removable from the housing inside the tumble dryer so that it can be handled more easily for cleaning. For this purpose, cleaning under running water is provided. However, the adherence of the deposited lint is so great that the lint must be processed with additional tools (e.g. with a bottle brush) to remove it.
The invention has for its object to design the condenser in a tumble dryer of the type mentioned in such a way that the removal of the fluff deposited on the heat exchanger plates is facilitated without having to remove the plate stack of the heat exchanger from its housing.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that a grating is provided from strips covering the end edges, which are connected to one another by narrow transverse ribs, which extend a short distance in the direction of the process air between the plates and are connected to one another at their ends by crosswise arranged stripping lips are that connect closely to the plate surfaces, but are otherwise aerodynamically shaped for the process air.
Behind the gratings, lint still settles on the plates in the inflow area, but an operator can pull the gratings as a whole component forward from the plates so that the wiping lips clean the inflow area of the plates from fluff. A fluff felt that has been deposited there is, in any case, removed in its entirety from the plate surfaces.
For easier handling when removing the gratings, they are connected with a handle. The handle should be placed in front of the front surface of a strip so that it does not stand in the direct air flow in front of the space between two plates.
To simplify production and for easier handling when rinsing, the gratings, the transverse ribs and the wiper lips consist of a one-piece molded plastic part.

The tumble dryer in FIG. 1 has a
The process air blown by the
At the front of the dryer housing 10 there is also a door or
The plate stack partially shown in FIG. 2 is shown cut at the height of the column of superimposed transverse ribs in the direction of the process air. Warmed cooling air flows from the sectional plane of the
In the condenser shown in FIG. 3 in the flow direction of the process air between two transverse ribs, the uppermost
For easy removal of the gratings from the stack of plates, a
Another advantage for the designer of a condenser equipped according to the invention is that he can firmly integrate the entire condenser block in the housing of the tumble dryer, thereby opening up the possibility of considerably reducing the housing parts for the condenser block and the process air and cooling air guides. to seal better. This will significantly increase the efficiency of such a tumble dryer.
The gratings indicated schematically in FIG. 4 have
