Abstract

Handling installation for metallurgical products, such as, in particular, slabs, blooms, billets and the like, with crossed translational movements, characterised in that it comprises: - means (10) making it possible to ensure gripping, handling and transportation of metallurgical products (14), these means being driven in a translational movement along a rolling track (12, 12'); and - a transfer trolley (16) on which the said means (10) carrying a product (14) are positioned, the said transfer trolley being capable of moving along a rolling track (18) in a translational movement perpendicular to the translational movement of the said means (10) in order to bring the said product to any desired location. <IMAGE>

La présente invention est relative à une installation de manutention de produits sidérurgiques à mouvements de translation croisés. Claims (6)

  1. Handling installation for iron and steel products, such as notably slabs, blooms and billets and the like, in mutually crossing translatory movements, comprising:
    - a first transfer carriage (16) capable of displacing along a track (18) in order to bring the product to any desired position,
    - a second carriage, positioned on the first carriage, capable of a translatory movement along a track (12, 12') in a direction perpendicular to said first carriage,
    - means (10) carried by the second carriage, enabling iron and steel products (14) to be raised,
    characterized in that
    the seizing, transporting and handling means (10) comprise a main beam (22), on which are mounted more than two seizing fingers (24), pivoting about a common axis (26) and designed in such a manner as to seize and raise the product (14), the beam (22) being firmly connected at its ends to two lateral carriages (30, 30') which displace along said track (12, 12').
  2. Installation according to Claim 1, characterized in that said seizing, handling and transporting means (10) move along said track (12, 12') under the action of a drive mechanism composed of a rack-and-pinion system entraining wheels or rollers (32, 32') of said lateral carriages (30, 30') and which may be moved by electrical or hydraulic motor-reduction gear units.
  3. Installation according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the transfer carriage (16) is constituted of a chassis (34) running on said track (18) by means of wheels or rollers (36), driven by the electrical or hydraulic motor-reduction gear units, said carriage comprising, on its upper face, a section of track (12') in continuation of the track (12) for the means (10), in such a manner that the latter, carrying the product (14), come into position by rolling onto said track section (12') to be subsequently traversed by said transfer carriage (16) along its track (18), perpendicularly to the track (12) for said means (10).
  4. Installation according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the rotation of the seizing fingers (24) about their common axis (26) is produced by means of jacks, possibly supplied by a central unit mounted on the seizing and transporting means (10), and acting on levers (28) connected to each finger.
  5. Installation according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that the electrical supply to the seizing and transporting means (10) and to the transfer carriage (16) is provided, respectively, by means of a system comprising sliding contact (38) and rail (40) and by means of a trailing lead system (42).
  6. Installation according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that it comprises supports (50) mounted on said transfer carriage (16) for supporting the product during the transfer of the carriage and, possibly also, for carrying out various measurements, such as notably alignment, weighing, and determination of the length of the products.
