Definitions
- the invention relates to an ultrasound layer transducer with an astigmatic sound lobe, which has at least one rectangular piezoceramic plate, the two sides of which are coated with a layer, the long side of the ultrasound layer transducer serving as a sound radiation surface and the ultrasound layer transducer being operated in the fourth planar vibration mode of the piezoceramic plates .
- Ultrasonic layer transducers of the type mentioned above are known for use in wide-beam proximity sensors.
- this mode has the disadvantage that oscillation components in opposite phases occur at the longitudinal ends of the sound radiation surface. This produces strong side lobes to the desired narrow sound lobe in the plane parallel to the orientation of the piezoceramic plates. This can lead to false signals due to interference reflectors located outside the main detection area.
- damping parts are attached to the longitudinal ends of the ultrasound film converter. It proves to be advantageous if the damping parts are designed as U-shaped damping blocks that enclose the ends of the ultrasound layer transducer. If the damping blocks have at least one groove for receiving the piezoceramic plate, this simplifies the manufacturing process.
- An elasticized polymer with fillers is provided as the material for the damping parts (this ensures good mechanical damping). If the polymer with fillers has a density of 1.5 to 4.5 g / cm3, this represents a favorable composition for the vibration behavior.
- the layers on both sides of the piezoceramic plate consist of the plastic polyethylene, which is due to the strong temperature response its mechanical material parameters result in a strong frequency drift with temperature changes.
- an epoxy resin filled with hollow glass balls is provided as the material for the layer. A favorable influence on the directional characteristic and / or the efficiency of the sound radiation can be achieved if an adaptation layer is provided on the sound-radiating transducer front. If an epoxy resin filled with hollow glass spheres is used as the material of the matching layer, the matching layer can be produced in a simple manner.
- the desired sound lobe shape depends on the geometry of the matching layer, it is advantageous if different geometries of the matching layer are provided.
- the converter efficiency can be improved if different thicknesses of the matching layer are provided, because this enables optimization with regard to the converter efficiency.
- FIG. 1 shows an ultrasound layer transducer 1 of a known type, which here has two piezoceramic plates 2, on the two sides of which layers 3 made of the plastic polyethylene are attached.
- the astigmatic directional characteristic of the sound lobe is achieved by using the long side 4 of the ultrasound layer transducer 1 as the sound radiation surface.
- the ratio of length to width of this rectangular area is proportional to the ratio of the opening angles from narrow to wide sound beam.
- the ultrasound layer transducer 1 is operated in a resonant manner on the fourth planar vibration mode of the piezoceramic platelets 2, as a result of which a high efficiency of sound radiation and reception is achieved. In this mode, however, antiphase oscillation components which prove to be disadvantageous occur at the longitudinal ends of the sound radiation surface.
- FIG. 2 shows an ultrasound layer transducer which, starting from the structure shown in FIG. 1, has damping blocks 5 at the longitudinal ends. These are U-shaped and each have a groove 9 for receiving the piezoceramic plate 2 protruding over the ends.
- a strongly damping, elasticized polymer is used for the damping blocks 5, which, by means of suitable fillers, has a density of 1.5 to 4.5 g / cm3 is brought.
- the damping blocks 5 are brought into the appropriate shape by casting or injection molding or are produced from strips by cutting and grinding.
- the damping blocks 5 enclosing the transducer ends in a U-shape provide good side lobe damping in the narrow sound lobe of the ultrasound layer transducer.
- the layers 3 serving as composite material are produced in this embodiment from an epoxy resin filled with hollow glass spheres, whereby the temperature response of the frequency is improved while the acoustic properties are otherwise good (from ⁇ 10 kHz to ⁇ 2 kHz in the interval from -25 ° C. to 70 ° C).
- an epoxy resin with hollow glass spheres is also known under the name "syntactic foam”.
- the ultrasound layer transducer according to FIG. 2 has an adaptation layer 8 on the sound-radiating transducer front. It is advantageously also produced from a syntactic foam which can be processed well and can thus easily be shaped into a geometry adapted to the desired shape of the sound lobe.
- the geometry can be smooth, rounded or beveled or roof-shaped.
- the converter efficiency can be improved by optimizing the thickness of the matching layer 8.
- the described ultrasound layer transducer 1 according to FIG. 2 can, preferably by gluing, from the individual parts mentioned using reactive glue.
- this manufacturing method requires complex and precise manual work and is therefore quite expensive.
- the manufacturing process can be significantly facilitated in that the arrangement described is produced by casting.
- the damping blocks 5 are introduced into a casting mold which corresponds in its free space to the external geometry of the later converter.
- the weighting blocks have grooves 9 for receiving and guiding the piezoceramic plate 2, which is inserted after the mold cavity has been filled with still liquid syntactic foam. With hardening, the manufacturing process is essentially completed and the ultrasonic layer transducer 1 can be removed from the casting mold.
- ultrasound layer transducers 1 with several piezoceramic plates 2 are required. These are lined up side by side in such a way that a layer 3 of syntactic foam lies between them.
- the number of piezoceramic plates 2 is to be provided in accordance with a plurality of grooves 9 for receiving the same.

Abstract
Description
- FIG 1 eine Ausführungsform eines bekannten Ultraschall-Schichtwandlers,
- FIG 2 einen erfindungsgemäß verbesserten Ultraschall-Schichtwandler.
