Eine zum Schleudern geeignete Wäschetrommel dieser Art ist aus dem DE-GM 18 71 983 bekannt. Bei sehr hohen Zentrifugalkräften, die insb. bei höheren Schleu­derdrehzahlen als 1000 Upm in Waschmaschinen-Trommeln mit mindestens 430 mm Außendurchmesser auftreten, erlangt die Beanspruchung der Falznaht ihre Grenzbe­lastbarkeit. Durch Dehnungen in Richtung der Mantellinie und durch Druck von innen wird die Falznaht elastisch geöffnet und durchgebogen. Lastwechsel dieser Art füh­ren im Blech einerseits zu kristallinen Versprödungen, die Risse im Blech verursa­chen. Andererseits werden die zunächst elastischen Dehnungen und Biegungen in pla­stische Verformungen umgesetzt, u.a. auch dadurch, daß die Versprödungen den Ela­stizitätsmodul herabsetzen. Die Falznaht reißt dann auf und öffnet sich. Aufgewölb­ tes Blech überwindet den Abstand zum Laugenbehälter-Mantel und zu Laugenbehäl­ter-Einbauten, z.B. Heizungsstäbe, und richtet dort größere Schäden an.
