Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a stop device in a determined position of a movable member driven by an electric motor and which must pass at least once its stop position without stopping there.
  • the invention also relates to a timepiece with a rotary counting indicator of finite duration, controlled by an electric motor, stopping at the end of counting.
  • the stopping in a determined position of a movable member driven by an electric motor poses no problems as soon as the stopping in question must occur each time the movable member passes into said position. It suffices, in this case, to provide the movable member with a control means of an electric switch located on the motor supply circuit. so that when the movable member passes into the position where the stop must occur, it opens said switch, which puts the engine out of service and produces the desired stop.
  • the movable member must be able to cross without stopping one or more times the position in which the stop must ultimately occur, that is to say its end-of-travel position, the problem becomes more delicate.
  • the object of the present invention is precisely to provide a solution to this problem.
  • the stopping of a movable member in a determined position which it must be able to cross beforehand one or more times without stopping is a problem which arises in the counters of time intended to carry out the counting of a finite duration, at the mathematical sense of the term, which include two indicators, one of which indicates time in one unit and the other in another unit constituting a submultiple of the first, and in which the latter, rotary indicator, must be able to make more than one lap while the first performs its complete stroke, by one maximum.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide a solution to this problem.
  • the sports wristwatch shown in fig. 1, generally designated by 1, intended to allow boaters to control the time which remains to elapse before the start of a regatta, comprises an ordinary electronic movement, not shown because known per se , with quartz oscillator, driving three ordinary hands of hours, minutes and seconds, designated by 2, 3 and 4, respectively.
  • This watch also includes an indicator for the dates, which appear in a window 5 made in the dial, designated by 6.
  • the watch shown includes an autonomous counter module, superimposed on the ordinary movement, on the dial side.
  • the frame of this module comprises a plate 7 pierced with an or groove 8 located opposite the window 5 of the dial 6.
  • This plate 7 carries an electric motor, generally designated by 9, controlled by a quartz oscillator shown schematically at 10, and the rotor of which carries a pinion 11 constituting the first element of a gear train comprising mobiles 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16; the pinion of the latter mobile, designated by 17, meshes with a wheel 18 located in the center of the movement.
  • This wheel 18 carries a minute indicator consisting of a disc 19 having three zones of different colors 19 a , 19 b and 19 c (fig. 5), in the form of crown segments.
  • the motor control circuit 9, diagrammatically represented at 20, comprises a terminal 21 connected to a conductive track 22 a to 22 e , isolated from the mass of the movement, used to control the motor 9.
  • the end point 22 e of this track conductive can be earthed by means which will be indicated later; circuit 20 is such that, when terminal 21 is grounded, the engine is stopped.
  • the watch includes a pusher 23 (fig. 1) allowing manual actuation of a lever 24 articulated at 25 on the plate 7 and which carries a pin 26 passing through an opening 27 of the plate which limits the movements of the lever. The latter is recalled by a spring 28.
  • the rocker 24 has a nose 24 a cooperating with a nose 29 a of a rocker 29 pivoted at 30 on the plate 7.
  • the rocker 29 has a toothed sector 29 b , forming a rake, engaged with a pinion 31 secured to the wheel 18 bearing the 19 minute indicator.
  • the lever 29 further carries an adjustable stop 32, mounted on an eccentric, intended to act on an elastic blade 33 to bring it into contact at 34 with the end, designated by 22 d , of the conductive track 22 c and put it thus grounded.
  • the rocker 24 When pressure is exerted on the pusher 23, as indicated by the arrow 35 in FIG. 6, the rocker 24 causes the rocker 29 to rotate in the direction of the arrow 36 which, thanks to the engagement of the rake 29 b with the pinion 31, rotates the latter and consequently the indicator 19 in the direction of the arrow 37, that is to say in the retrograde direction, until it stops against an adjustable stop pin 38, mounted on eccentric, carried by plate 7; simultaneously, the pin 32 leaves the blade 33, which itself leaves part 22 d of the conductive track, which starts the motor 9 as soon as the terminal 21 of its control circuit 20 is no longer at the mass.
  • the two elements - pinion 17 and wheel, designated by 39 - of the mobile 16 of the gear train connecting the motor 9 to the indicator 19 are coupled to each other by a device to friction comprising a cambered washer 40 (figs. 3 and 4), so that on the one hand the rake 29 b can be actuated without the gear train urging the motor 9, and on the other hand that the latter can start as soon as the contact at 34 is open even though pressure would still be exerted on the pusher 23 and that, consequently, the pinion 31 would then be blocked by the rake 29 b .
  • a device to friction comprising a cambered washer 40 (figs. 3 and 4)
  • the three zones of different colors 19 a , 19 b and 19 c of the disc 19 appear successively in five apertures 41 (fig. 1) formed in the dial 6.
  • the user of the watch thus sees the three zones of different colors of the indicator 19 next to these five windows, which gives it a notion of the time that remains to elapse until the indicator 19 has returned to its initial position.
  • the total duration of movement of the indicator 19 will be ten minutes.
  • the watch includes a second hand 42 mounted on the shaft, designated by 43 (fig. 4), of the mobile 15 of the gear train connecting the motor 9 to the indicator 19.
  • This second hand makes one revolution per minute, so that it is called upon to make ten revolutions during the ten minutes of the stroke of the disc 19; it rotates opposite a revolution of seconds 44 presented by the dial 6 of the watch (fig. 1).
  • the indicator disc 19 which performs only oscillating rotary movements, is pierced with an opening 45 in an arc of a circle (FIG. 5) delivering passage to the shaft 43 of the seconds hand 42 .
  • the shaft 43 carrying the second hand 42 carries, driven on it, a reset heart 46 (fig. 4) on which is fixed an elastic conductive blade 47 which is thus to the mass of the movement, coming into contact , once per revolution, with terminal 22 e ending the conductive track 22 a to 22 c ending at terminal 21 of the circuit 20 for controlling the motor 9.
  • the arm 47 comes into contact with terminal 22 e and thus puts terminal 21 to earth, provided that contact 34, mounted in series with contact 47-22 e is closed.
  • this contact 34 which the pin 32 of the rocker 29 actuates, is open, this grounding of the terminal 21 does not occur, so that the motor 9 continues to run.
  • a hammer 48 has been provided for resetting this needle to zero.
  • This hammer 48 articulated at 49 on the plate 7, has an arm 48 a , the end of which is engaged between the branches 24 b of a fork-shaped part which presents the rocker 24.
  • the actuation of the latter at means of the pusher 23 rotates the hammer 48 in the direction of arrow 50 (fig. 6) which causes the hammer to cooperate with the reset core 46, thus bringing the needle 42 opposite the number 60 of the turn seconds 44. It follows from this arrangement that even if the control mechanism is actuated manually during counting, the needle 42 still occupies its correct initial position at the start of a new count, when the pressure on the pusher 23 is released.
  • connection between the shaft 43 carrying the needle 42 and the wheel, designated by 51 (fig. 4), of the mobile 15 is friction, being provided by a cambered washer 52, so that the delivery at zero of the needle 42 is carried out without stressing the gear train connecting the motor 9 to the indicator 19.
  • the member indicating a sub-multiple of the main indicator, here the needle 42, may not be a seconds indicator but indicate fractions of a second or any other unit of time.
