Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing a protective microlayer on rotating rolls, the said layer preventing adhesion of alloy components of a surface-refined metal sheet when passing through the rolls. <IMAGE>

Description

Today hot-dip coated sheets are produced on continuously working strip galvanizing plants.

The cold-rolled flat material used is heat-treated in a continuous furnace by annealing. Then it goes through a bath with a molten alloy. After the coating has solidified, the strips must be re-rolled. This is done in so-called skin pass rollers.

So-called wet dressing is known in rolling mill technology, where a sliding film is built up between the work rolls and the backup rolls with water or water-like additives. At the same time, the rollers should also be kept clean. With the water as a lubricant, the deformation work also increases with constant pressure. It gets bigger due to the build-up on the rollers.

However, this method cannot be used with hot-dip coated sheets. Very high pressures are required to achieve a well-compacted, uniform surface for the subsequent coating, otherwise the tapes cannot be coated sufficiently.

Cleaning devices with mesh emery are known which remove the abrasion which is transferred from the galvanized belts to the rollers from the rollers. The cleaning device moves along the roller and presses a head with emery on the roller. Through the rota tion movement of the roller, the surface is cleaned with it. The resulting zinc dust is removed via an extraction system. Nevertheless, it happens again and again, especially with matted rollers, that so-called "zinc stoves" build up at certain points. This pad is often not removed directly from the cleaning device. However, this quickly builds up additional zinc at this point and the cleaning device can no longer remove the zinc, it sticks to the roller.

This effect is particularly pronounced with zinc alloys or aluminum-zinc alloys. Here there is an increased amount of abrasion from the strip material that builds up quickly on the rollers and can no longer be removed with the normal cleaning device. This means that the work rolls often have to be changed after a short time, because the trained steel strip does not meet the required quality requirements.

In a continuously operating strip galvanizing plant, however, a roll change means an enormous amount of production of undressed strips, which have to be reworked.

The invention is therefore based on the object of producing a high-quality, hot-dip coated strip material in a continuously operating strip galvanizing system, the failure of the skin pass rollers being reduced and thus increasing their operating time, with a constant degree of deformation.

The object is achieved in that a micro protective film, which prevents the zinc from adhering to the skin pass rollers, maintains surface protection on the rollers and thus extends the operating time of the rollers, while at the same time increasing the surface quality of the hot-dip coated strip material, without residues on the strip surface that would interfere with subsequent coating or other processing.

The method will be explained in more detail using a schematic system shown in FIG. 1.

Depending on the width of the roller (2), there are spray nozzles (3) or spray bars that are equipped with several identical spray nozzles (3) at a defined distance and angle from the skin pass rollers. The distance depends on the spray angle used for the spray nozzles as well as the pressure and the spray medium.

Several requirements are placed on the spray medium (4). A micro-protective film must be left on the skin pass rollers to prevent the zinc or aluminum-zinc alloys from sticking. At the same time, the spray agent must volatilize quickly and without residue from the hot-dip coated strip material, because the strip material must be available for the surface coating without additional treatment.

As a spray can, for. B. Mixtures of low-aromatic or aromatic-rich, aliphatic hydrocarbons with special wetting agents. These sprays are surface-active mixtures, the solvents used do not produce any harmful vapors.

After the solvents have evaporated, there is no longer any annoying residue on the sheet. Therefore, the sheets can immediately be sent to the further processing process. No cases have become known in which paint defects or paint damage have occurred after the solvent has evaporated.

The micro protection film on the skin pass rollers must not produce a smear effect. It only prevents the zinc from coming into direct contact with the roller and thus prevents the build-up of Zinc particles or alloy components of the surface refinement too. The micro protection film acts as a kind of separating layer.

These spray or lubricants are known when profiling sheet metal of all kinds.

The spray is atomized through a two-substance nozzle, which is adjusted to the viscosity of the spray. Compressed air of high purity is used as the driving medium. The compressed air entrains the spray, the pressure and the amount of compressed air determining the amount of spray. It is astonishing how little spraying agent per nozzle and hour is necessary to maintain an effective micro-protective film on the skin pass rollers (2). The spray medium pressure set is below 5 ml / h and nozzle. In addition to the safe surface protection against deposits, this small amount of spraying agent also prevents a higher deformation because the application on the skin pass roller is microscopic.

The advantage of this method is that it can also be used with matted rollers. With these types of rollers in particular, the rollers clog up very quickly and are therefore unusable, which results in the roller stand coming to a standstill. A roll change is expensive and the constant reworking of the rolls reduces the service life enormously.

But the quality of the surface-coated sheet is also enormously improved by the above-described process. It is no longer necessary to re-address the tapes. This also applies to the surface-coated sheets that do not have a pure zinc coating.

The duo rollers represent a particular problem. These rollers cannot be washed because otherwise the detergent would run onto the belt and cause contamination. The subject of the application is particularly suitable for this type of roller.

With the flow rate of the spray, the degree of deformation can also be increased in the case of a skin pass mill with a sufficiently good surface, i. H. the degree of deformation is increased with larger quantities of spray. The spray angle can be changed using the swiveling nozzle holder. The spray can be sprayed directly into the roller mill, which results in an increase in the degree of deformation.

Another area of application would be straightening machines for surface-coated steel strips. These rollers and rollers also remain free of surface deposits, whereby discontinuous spraying is sufficient here.
