Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a particular type of electrical cables intended for the transport of high voltage electrical energy in overhead lines.
  • the document DE-C-275 218 describes hollow conductors constituted by elements having a section generally affecting the shape of an S or a Z. However, this document does not precisely define any particular parameter relating to the structure of the cable.
  • the document FR-A-779 960 relates to a closed cable whose surface is perfectly smooth.
  • the present invention aims to provide an electrical cable of a new type intended for the transport of electrical energy under high voltage which does not have the drawbacks of smooth closed cables but which nevertheless combines the advantages of these. It is more particularly sought to provide a closed cable having a determined surface roughness in order to cause the variation in drag in a range of useful speeds, between approximately 12 m / s and 60 m / s.
  • an enclosed electrical cable intended for the transport of high voltage electrical energy in overhead lines, comprising at least one outer layer constituted by elements having a section generally affecting the shape of an S or d 'a Z helically wound on a core so as to overlap one another, characterized in that, in a sectional plane transverse to the cable, the transition edges between the essentially circular upper surface of the element of S or Z and the radial planes limiting said upper surface in said cutting plane are rounded by a radius of curvature whose ratio to the diameter of cable is between 1.10 ⁇ 2 and 6.10 ⁇ 2.
  • the closed cable according to the invention has a particularly reduced drag coefficient at certain wind speeds, in particular compared with conventional stranded cables and conventional closed cables.
  • the closed cable of the invention has a useful cross section greater than a conventional stranded cable.
  • the cable diameter will be reduced; therefore, the support structures such as pillars, foundations, etc. can be designed in a lighter and / or less resistant manner.
  • the closed cable of equal diameter will be able to transport higher electrical energy.
  • the outer belt formed by the Z-shaped wires which are strongly nested one inside the other, also prevents the oozing of grease placed between the interstices of the inner wires during their assembly.
  • the closed cable according to the invention has an external area which tends towards the smooth surface.
  • the noise produced by the Corona effect will be all the less high, especially since, due to the absence of deep valleys, dust is more easily eliminated by natural precipitation. Contamination over time will therefore be less than for a conventional stranded cable. For the same reasons, online losses will be reduced. The same is true of noise.
  • the enclosed cable according to the invention also provides a solution to the problems caused by frost and by the formation of ice sleeves around the conductors. Indeed, the formation of an ice sleeve around the cable causes it to twist. In order to avoid the resulting problems, it is possible to provide for the suspension of weight on the cable, which counteracts the torsional effect due to the formation of the ice sleeve.
  • the closed cable comprises at least two outer layers constituted by elements having a section generally affecting the shape of an S or a Z wound helically on a core so to nest into each other, one layer being rolled up to the left and the other to the right. Correct orientation of the layers of the cable with respect to the prevailing winds projecting snow onto the cable also prevents the formation of excessive torsional forces in the cable.
  • the two layers constituted by elements profiled in S or Z are separated by an interval of the order of 0.1 to 1 mm. It has been found that the closed cable thus obtained is less sensitive to small wind vibrations and can be mounted with less use of conventional shock absorbers or without using them.
  • the filiform element profiled in S or Z and characterized by radii of curvature between 0.4 and 1 mm between the upper surface and the radial planes limiting said upper surface in the cutting plane has diameters of upper surface included between 15 and 60 mm, and a profile height between 3 and 12 mm, the upper surface forming an arc of curvature between 10 ° and 30 °.
  • a closed cable 1 consists of a core 3 consisting of 7 stranded elements (1 + 6), a first layer 5 of elements 7 having an S or Z-shaped profile and a second layer 9 called outer layer comprising elements 11 having a section in the form of S or Z .
  • An annular space 13 can be provided between the essentially smooth outer surface of the first layer 5 of S or Z shaped elements 7 and the surface formed by the lower surfaces of the S or Z elements 11 of the outer layer 9.
  • Said profiled elements in S or Z are wound helically around the core 3 and are nested one inside the other so as to constitute a seal that is tight against the grease contained inside and outside dirt.
  • the elements 7 constitute an essentially smooth external surface, apart from a few irregularities due in particular to manufacturing tolerances
  • the external surface constituted by the elements 11 wound helically on said first layer 5 and overlapping one another presents the appearance of an essentially smooth surface, provided with helical grooves 15 determined by the radii of curvature of the corresponding edges of the S or Z profile.
  • FIG 2 there is shown an element 11 in cross section on an enlarged scale.
  • the section generally has the shape of an S or a Z.
  • the transition edges 21 and 23 between the essentially circular upper surface 25 and the radial planes 27 and 29 limiting said upper surface in said plane cut are rounded by a radius e curvature 30 generally between 0.4 and 1 mm, in the case of cables having a diameter of 15 to 60 mm.
  • This graph more particularly shows the importance of the radius of curvature of the elements in S or Z.
  • the tests were carried out for cables each having an outside diameter of 18.9 mm.
  • the number of grooves, the pitch of the propeller, the fouling of the cable and possibly other parameters can influence the behavior of the cable. This is nevertheless significantly less important than the influence of the aforementioned parameters, namely the depth of the grooves and the diameter of the cable.
  • the cable according to the invention can be made of any type of material suitable for an overhead power line. It is also understood that the invention covers the various cables constituting an overhead line, in particular the phase or guard cables incorporating or not incorporating telecommunication circuits.
  • Figure 1 shows a stranded core (1 + 6), it should be noted that the invention also covers a cable as claimed, the core of which may include optical fibers.
