Abstract

A cylinder-lock key (6) for a lock-cylinder group consisting of at least two lock cylinders (1,2) equipped with a different number of pin tumblers (3), especially for lock installations equipped therewith, is provided with at least two key abutments (7,8) which are located at axially different points on the key (6) and limit different insertion depths and of which the first (7) is arranged in the vicinity of the key head (6') and limits the insertion depth by striking against the end face (11') of the lock-cylinder core (11). In order to make do with lock-cylinder cores (11) changed only in respect of the number of pin tumblers, the second key abutment (8) is arranged at an axial distance from the key tip (6<IV>) and rotationally offset, as seen in the axial direction of the key (6), or longitudinally adjustably in relation to the first key abutment (7) located near the key head. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a cylinder key for a lock cylinder group consisting of at least two lock cylinders provided with a different number of pin tumblers, in particular for locking systems equipped therewith, with at least two key stops on the key at axially different locations, which limit different insertion depths, the first of which is in the vicinity the key head is arranged and the insertion depth is limited by hitting the end face of the lock cylinder core.

Cylinder keys of the aforementioned type are known from US-PS 41 62 623, in the Fig.4 and 5 they are shown. According to this, one and the same key can be used to actuate two locking cylinders which are provided with a different number of pin tumblers and are of different lengths, the key inserted in the shorter cylinder in any case resting with its key tip on the inner boundary wall of the key channel in the cylinder core, in this case here the key tip attaches the second key impact forms, whereas the first key stop is arranged in a conventional manner near the key head and rests on the outer end face of the lock cylinder core of the lock cylinder core, which is longer and contains the larger number of pin tumblers. Such operated with the same key, a different number of pin tumblers lock cylinder can take into account the different security requirements for outer and inner cylinders by the longer the larger number of pin tumblers containing lock cylinders outside or in outer doors and the shorter, less Locking cylinders containing pin tumblers are installed inside or in interior doors. In the known cylinder key of this type there is a major disadvantage that the key tip used here as the second key stop is sensitive to wear and therefore does not allow the key inserted into the locking cylinder to be supported axially in the long term, so that there are corresponding operating difficulties with regard to the tumbler actuation is coming. In addition, this known cylinder key requires key channels in the cylinder core of different heights on the locking cylinder side. A high or enlarged key channel is also disadvantageous because it worsens the guidance of the tumbler pins in the cylinder core and makes unauthorized manipulation with opening tools easier. Also, the profile series used in locking systems would have to be manufactured and stocked in practically two variants due to the larger key channel. Different-sized key channels in the cylinder core also require the cylinder keys and locking cylinders shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 of this US Pat. No. 4,162,623, the latter having the same number of pin tumblers but an axially different length and in which the key is two at a different distance from one another Key head arranged and located in the same longitudinal plane of the key has stop edges, but in this case again in each insertion position with its key tip rests against the inner wall of the key channel in the cylinder core. Furthermore, it is through the US-PS 16 79 558 also known to actuate lock cylinders of different lengths and provided with a different number of pin tumblers with a cylinder key which has only a single key stop. But here again this is the key tip, which rests on the bottom of the key channel in the cylinder core and, because of its risk of wear and tear, cannot guarantee an axially properly aligned insertion position of the key in the long run.

The invention has for its object to provide a cylinder key of the type mentioned, which is therefore also to be introduced into lock cylinders with a different number of pin tumblers and allows them to be operated, but does not require any lock cylinder cores that are different in design except for the number of pin tumblers.

This object is achieved in that the second key stop is arranged at an axial distance from the tip of the key and relative to the first key stop close to the key head in the axial direction of the key, either in a rotationally displaceable or longitudinally adjustable manner.

Such a cylinder key can be introduced with respect to only a different number of pin tumblers of differently designed locking cylinders, whereby either its first or second key stop strikes the end face of the cylinder core over a wide area, thereby ensuring an exact axial position of the key in the locking cylinder that is necessary for turning the cylinder core . The key tip remains unused in all cases and is therefore wear-free.

If the pin tumbler holes in the cylinder core in the different locking cylinders with respect to the number of tumblers are at the same distance from the end face of the locking cylinder core, the axially measured distance is between between the first and second key stop, an integer multiple of the center distance of two adjacent pin tumbler holes.

Advantageously, the second key stop of the cylinder key, which is arranged in a rotationally offset manner with respect to the first key stop, is formed by the end face of a radially projecting stop rib fixedly arranged on the side of the key shaft, which rib is present in a lock cylinder which contains the larger number of pin tumblers and whose key channel is laterally tangent or fits into it . If, on the other hand, such a key is inserted into the locking cylinder which has the smaller number of pin tumblers, its second key stop comes to rest on the end face of the cylinder core.

In a particularly advantageous manner, the second key stop of the cylinder key can also be formed by the end face of a stop slide that can be axially locked and locked on the key shaft. In this case, the stop slide can consist of an essentially G-shaped profiled rail which engages around the key cut area and allows it to be covered far in the axial direction. As a result, such a slider can be used not only as a stop slider but also to cover the key incisions, which can prevent the sharp key incision prongs from causing injury or damage to clothing.

It has proven to be particularly advantageous if the profiled key shaft extends over almost the full length of the key and is approximately half surrounded by the hollow key head, leaving a corresponding passage gap for the stop slide. The stop slide in its axial position which is retracted as far as possible into the key head can also form the first key stop, which could otherwise also be formed by the key head itself. It is recommended to place the stop slide under the effect of a pressure spring which tries to push it out of the key head and is accommodated in the latter and to be able to determine it in its various stop positions by means of a spring-loaded locking lever accommodated in the key head.

In the drawing, two embodiments of a cylinder key according to the invention are shown. Show
  • 1 and 2 show two locking cylinders of a locking system which are different in terms of their number of pin tumblers, but otherwise have the same design, in a vertical longitudinal section, each with a properly inserted, identically designed cylinder key,
  • 3 and 4 the end views of cylinders of oval or profile shape corresponding to those of FIGS. 1 and 2,
  • 5 to 7 a second embodiment of the key in a partially sectioned illustration, each with a differently extended stop slide and
  • 8 shows an end view of the cylinder key in the direction of arrow A in FIGS. 6 and 7.

The locking cylinders 1 and 2 partially shown in vertical longitudinal section in FIGS. 1 and 2 differ from one another only to the extent that cylinder 1 has six pin tumblers, generally designated 3, whereas cylinder 2 has only five such pin tumblers. The five tumblers of the tumbler pins 4, 5, etc. contained in them correspond fully with those of the innermost five tumblers 3 of the cylinder 1. Only the front pin tumbler 3 'is additionally available in cylinder 1. Both cylinders 1, 2 belong to the same locking system. However, while the cylinder 1 is intended for a higher-quality external door to be secured due to its larger number of pin tumblers, the only five tumblers 3 having cylinders 2 can be installed in a subordinate inner door.

In order to be able to actuate both differently designed locking cylinders 1, 2 with the same cylinder key 6 in a conventionally simple manner without prior laborious trial and error, the key 6 is not only arranged with a first, usually in the vicinity of the key head 6 'key stop 7 but also with a provided second key stop 8, which is arranged at an axial distance from the exposed, always unoccupied key tip 6 IV and with respect to the first key stop 7 in the axial direction of the key also rotatably arranged, that is, in a different longitudinal plane like this. In the illustrated embodiment, in which the tumbler holes in the cylinder core 11 have the same distance from the end face 11 'of the cylinder core, the second key stop 8 compared to the first key stop 7 has an axially measured distance a, which is an integer multiple of the center distance b between two adjacent pin tumbler holes 3˝, 3 ‴. Here, the center distance a between the two key stops 7, 8 is specifically the same as the center distance b of the adjacent tumbler holes.

The second key stop 8 is formed by the end face of the radially projecting stop rib 9 which is arranged laterally on the key shaft 6 '. This can move into a blind hole 10 in the lock cylinder 1 containing the larger number of pin tumblers, which - as shown in FIG. 3 - laterally affects the key channel 12 present in the cylinder core 11. Such a blind bore 10 is not present in the profile lock cylinder 2 shown in FIG. 4 with the lower number of pin tumblers.

As Fig.1 shows, the key 6 strikes with its conventional insertion into the larger number of tumbler lock cylinder 1 with its first key stop 7 on the end face 11 'of the cylinder core 11, where through the existing on the key shaft 6˝ key incisions in proper correspondence to the tumbler pins and these are thereby moved against the action of the tumbler springs 3 IV in the common parting plane 11˝, in which the cylinder core 11 rotated by the key 6 and thus the lock equipped with it can be opened. In the case of the locking cylinder 2 containing the smaller number of pin tumblers, due to the lack of a blind hole 10, the key 6 can only be inserted into the key channel 12 until its second stop 8 strikes the end face 11 'of the cylinder core 11. In this case, too, it is ensured that the key cuts 6 ‴ come into immediate agreement with the tumbler pins, so that the cylinder core 11 can also be easily rotated here by turning the key 6. This eliminates the otherwise necessary in the absence of the second fixed key stop 8 trying to find the correct insertion depth of the key 6.

It is understood that in the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, on the side of the key shaft 6˝ opposite the stop rib 9, a further stop rib forming a third key stop of axially greater longitudinal extension than the first stop rib 9 may be present, so that the key, for example, can be properly inserted into another lock cylinder with, for example, only four appropriately matching pin tumblers up to the stop. That would only presuppose that in the cylinder cores of the two lock cylinders 1 and 2, in addition to their key channel, there is another correspondingly differently recessed blind hole into which the axially longer stop rib in the cases of FIGS. 1 and 2 can move, so that in these Insert positions the function of the first and second key stop 7 and 8 can be fully fulfilled.

In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 5 to 8, the key 16 has an almost its own full length extending profiled key shaft 16 ', which is surrounded by about half of the hollow key head 16'. Here, the first and the second key stop are formed by the end face 17 of a stop slide 18 that can be axially adjusted and locked on the key shaft 16schaft, while the key tip 16 IV also remains unencumbered here in any case. The stop slide 16, as also shown in particular in FIG. 8, consists of an essentially G-shaped profiled rail which encompasses the key cut area 16 und and allows it to be covered widely in the axial direction, as shown in particular in FIG. 5. This stop slide 18 is under the effect of the hollow ausgebil Deten key head 16 'housed compression spring 19, which press it out of the key head 16', namely in the most extended position shown in Fig.5 tries to bring in which the stop slide 18 by the existing on its underside locking projection 18 'and the system is held on the key head wall 16 IV . Between the bowl-shaped key head 16 'and the key shaft 16' in the wall 16 IV there is a corresponding passage gap 16 v for the stop slide 18.

In the hollow key head 16 'is a locking lever 20 which is acted upon by the spring 21 at its end containing the actuating button 20'. At its other end, the lever 20 is provided with a detent projection 22 or a recess 23 lying next to it, which cooperate with the detent projection 18 'present on the stop slide 18 in such a way that it stops the stop slide 18 both in the largely retracted position shown in FIG. 6 axial position shown as well as in the most retracted position shown in Figure 7. The end face 17 present on the stop slide forms the first key stop 17a in the case of FIG. 7 and the second key stop 17b in the case of FIG. Since the key stop 17 is to be brought into two different stop positions, none of the blind holes need to be drilled in the locking cylinders to be closed with different numbers of pin tumblers 10 according to FIG. 3 corresponding recess or depression in the cylinder core. In the present case, too, the center distance a present between the two stop positions 17a and 17b is equal to an integer multiple of the center distance b between two adjacent pin tumbler holes, namely a = b. In this embodiment, the particular additional advantage is that the stop slide 18 can be used here according to FIG. 5 as a cover slide for the key cut area 16 ‴, thus providing appropriate protection against injury or damage to clothing, etc. All that is required is for the locking lever 20 to be pivoted slightly by briefly actuating its head 20 ', so that the stop slide 18 then reaches its most extended cover position under the action of the compression spring 19.
