Abstract

The conductive suspension for the internal contacting of picture tubes is composed of graphite, iron oxide, water glass and water. It can be applied by pressing before the varnishing and aluminising of the screen tub and permits simultaneous fritting and full curing of the picture tube.

Description

The invention relates to a graphite-containing conductive suspension for a contact surface on the inner edge of a tub of a picture tube.

After the phosphors have been introduced into the tub of the picture tube, they are usually covered with a layer of lacquer. Subsequently, contact lines from a graphite-containing conductive suspension are applied to the inner edge of the tub, starting from the holding pins for the shadow mask to be used later. After the contact lines have been applied, a thin aluminum layer is evaporated onto the inside of the tub in a high vacuum. In the finished state of the picture tube, the contact lines connect the aluminum layer in the tub to the shadow mask via the holding pins. This is connected via a spring to the inner conductive layer in the piston of the picture tube and thus to the high-voltage connection (FUNK-TECHNIK, 1967, No. 16, pages 576 to 580).

The invention has for its object to provide a guide suspension for a contact surface on the inner edge of the tub of a picture tube.

This object is achieved in that the lead suspension consists of graphite, iron oxide, water glass and water. The solids content should be 30 to 40% by weight, preferably 35% by weight.

This master suspension dries quickly and washable on the glass of the inner edge, so that it can be used in an automated production line with short cycle times. It also does not change due to contact with the paint layer, so that it can even be applied before painting. When the tub is heated, this conductive suspension does not cause any bubbles in the aluminum layer and is then abrasion-resistant and very low-resistance. Resistance values of less than 500 ohms result with a test area of 10 mm by 20 mm.

The advantages mentioned allow the required heating of the tub and the fritting process for connecting the tub to the cone to be carried out in a single step. In addition, this key suspension can be easily removed from faulty tubs that are to be reused after cleaning.

The conductive suspension can be applied to the inner edge of the tub by printing, preferably pad printing. The contact area thus generated is so good that a single area per well for the connection of the aluminum layer via, for example A spring attached to the frame of the shadow mask with the inner conductive layer in the cone is sufficient. The contact area must be so large that a good, low-resistance connection with the aluminum layer is achieved and the contact ends of the spring lie securely on the contact area. The contact area preferably has the dimensions 20 mm by 40 mm and its layer thickness is approximately 10 to 30 micrometers, preferably 20 micrometers. Because of this great thickness, a corresponding depth in the cliché of the printing device is required; it is approximately 100 micrometers with a layer thickness of 20 micrometers.

In dieser Leitsuspension beträgt dann der Anteil an Festkörpern 35 Gew.%.To prepare 100 g of graphite-containing master suspension, 28.2 g of 28% by weight graphite suspension from Acheson, 24.5 g of iron oxide (FeO 3) with a grain size of 10 to 20 micrometers, which was annealed at 640 ° C. for 2½ hours, 8. 3 g of water glass, preferably 30% by weight potassium water glass type 28/30 from Pebura and 39 g of demineralized water are placed in a ball mill and homogenized for 72 hours. The proportion of solids in this master suspension is then 35% by weight.

Hieran schließen sich die weiteren üblichen Fertigungsschritte an.After the phosphors have been introduced into the tub, the conductive suspension is printed on the inner edge of the tub to produce the contact surface. The phosphor layer and the contact surface are then dried, which can be done, for example, by using radiant heaters. Then the lacquer film is applied and then the tub is aluminized. This is followed by the other usual manufacturing steps.
