Definitions
- the present invention relates to an alpine or touring ski boot equipped with a source of energy using liquid or gaseous fuel supplying a heating device housed in the boot.
- Ski boots are already known in which are incorporated, in order to improve the comfort of the wearer, heating devices either of the electric type with heating resistance or of the liquid or gaseous fuel type which in this case use a storage tank. fuel and a burner housed in the shoe.
- Liquid or gaseous fuel heating devices have the advantage, compared to electrical devices, of making it possible to obtain greater autonomy and of ensuring for a relatively long period of time the desired comfort temperature inside the shoe.
- Patent US Pat. No. 3,977,093 describes a shoe fitted with a source of electrical energy supplying an electric heating device via an on-off switch actuated by the pressure of the foot engaged in the shoe.
- Heating devices using liquid fuel as described, for example, in patents IT-1,136,269 and FR-A-2,080,146, generally include a rechargeable liquid fuel burner which is arranged under a diffusion plate of the heat incorporated into the sole of the shoe so as to extend as close as possible to the foot of the wearer of the shoe.
- Other heaters that use gaseous fuel include a gas tank supplying a catalytic burner through a valve all these elements also being housed entirely in the sole of the shoe.
- Such gaseous fuel heating devices are described for example in the Italian utility model 196850 and in international patent application WO86 / 05663. These gaseous fuel heating devices are of the refillable gas tank type and it is therefore necessary to provide in the sole of the shoe which contains the tank an orifice through which the internal gas tank can be connected to a source of external gas recharge.
- the known heating devices for liquid or gaseous fuel have the disadvantage that once the heating is started, the stopping of this heating can only be obtained by manual intervention by the wearer of the shoe. In other words, the latter must think of cutting the heating when he leaves his shoe and it can obviously happen that he forgets to carry out this maneuver, which then results in a continuation of the heating of the bare shoe, hence a rapid exhaustion of the energy source used and a waste of this energy.
- the present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks by providing a shoe provided with means that automatically cut off the fuel supply as soon as the wearer of the shoe releases his foot from the latter.
- an alpine ski or touring boot equipped with a source of energy using liquid or gaseous fuel supplying a heating device and comprising a device controlling a supply member of the heating device connected between the source d energy and heating device, characterized in that it comprises, inside the shoe, means sensitive to the pressure exerted by the foot on the inner sole of the shoe and means for mechanical connection between the device controlling the member supplying the heating device and the means sensitive to the pressure exerted by the foot in order to authorize the opening of the fuel supply member only when the shoe is fitted and to automatically cause the closure of this supply member as soon as the shoe is removed.
- the means detecting the presence of the foot in the shoe are sensitive to the pressure exerted by the foot on the inner samelle of the shoe and this pressure detection is transmitted mechanically to the device controlling the power supply member of the heating assembly.
- the shoe with an upper according to the invention which can be an alpine ski or touring boot, is provided with a heating device which, in the case of the non-limiting embodiment presently described, is of the combustible gas type.
- the heating device comprises a heating assembly 1 which is housed in a suitably shaped recess provided in the upper part of the sole 2 of the shoe.
- This heating assembly 1 comprises a burner 3 fixed for example by welding, under a heat diffusion plate 4 itself placed under the inner sole 5 of the boot so as to be able to heat the skier's foot in very cold weather.
- the burner 3 is connected to a gas supply tube 7 and near the burner 3 is arranged an electrode 8 forming part of an ignition device for example of the piezoelectric type, to which it is connected by a conductor 9.
- the heating assembly 1 is supplied with gas from an interchangeable fuel gas cartridge 11 which is held in a housing provided in the rear part of the upper 12 of the shoe, inside the latter.
- the gas cartridge 11 is arranged vertically with its gas outlet opening facing downwards.
- the "vertical" direction is that in which the rod 12 extends, when in fact the rear wall of this rod is slightly inclined towards the front.
- the gas cartridge 11 is connected, at its lower end, to a supply member 13 consisting of a valve and regulator assembly, the opening and closing control member of which is constituted by a finger 14 projecting from the exterior of the valve body 13 and movable in a vertical lumen of this body.
- Finger 14 is pushed down, towards its open position, by a return spring 14a housed inside the pressure reducing valve 13.
- the finger 14 for controlling the valve 13 is actuated by a lug 15 forming part of a device 16 for controlling the supply of gas.
- This device 16 also acts on a pusher 17 of an igniter 18, for example of the piezoelectric type, which is connected by the electrical conductor 9, to the electrode 8 in order to produce an ignition spark.
- a device 16 for controlling the gas supply which acts on the valve 13 comprises two substantially vertical plates, adjacent to each other, contained in planes vertical and longitudinal, namely a manual control plate 19 relatively small, and a plate 21 for actuating the valve 13, of greater height, extending both above and below the plate 19.
- the plate 21 for actuating the tap 13, of generally rectangular shape, carries at its lower part, the tab 15 extending under the finger 14 and in contact with the latter.
- the plate 19 for manual control has substantially the shape of a C open towards the rear and it comprises a vertical core 19a extended at its two ends, respectively by two lower wings 19b and upper 19c.
- the lower wing 19b is used to actuate the pusher 17 of the piezoelectric igniter 18 and it is housed between the upper surface of this pusher 17 and an internal projection 22 of the rear wall of the shoe upper.
- the upper wing 19c of the manual control plate 19 extends outside the rear wall of the rod 12, passing through a slot 23 elongated in the vertical direction. At the outer end of this wing 19c is fixed a control button 24. Furthermore, the plate 21 is constantly stressed upwards by a compression spring 25 bearing on the upper face of the internal projection 22.
- the two plates 19 and 21 are coupled to each other by means allowing relative vertical movement of the manual control plate 19 relative to the actuating plate 21. More particularly the core 19a of the manual control plate 19 carries two lugs 26, aligned in the vertical direction and which are respectively engaged in slots 27 which are formed in the actuating plate of the tap 21 and which are aligned in the vertical direction.
- the manual control plate 19 also comprises, at its upper part, a tab 19d extending upwards and acting on a pawl 28 which is articulated on the upper part of the plate 21 for actuating the tap, around a horizontal and transverse axis 29.
- This pawl 28 is produced in the form of a lever with two branches forming an acute angle and extending in the direction of the rear wall of the rod 12.
- the lower branch 28a of the pawl 28 is in contact , at its end, with the upper end of the actuating tab 19d and the upper branch 28b of this pawl extends upwards to the rear wall of the rod 12.
- the pawl 28 is biased in the direction clockwise by a spring 31, so that its upper branch 28b is constantly pushed back towards the rear wall of the rod 12.
- the device 16 for controlling the gas supply also comprises a slide 32 (FIG. 5), in the form of an inverted U, which is mounted vertically movable along the internal face of the rear wall of the rod 12
- This slide 32 comprises an upper horizontal and transverse core 32a which is extended downwards by two lateral wings 32b and 32c.
- the lower edge 32d of the core 32a constitutes a movable stop for the upper end of the upper branch 28b of the pawl 28.
- This lower edge 32d is cut, in its central part, with a notch 32e open downwards and in which can engage a tooth 33 integral with the internal face of the rear wall of the rod 12.
- This tooth 33 has substantially the shape of a right triangle whose upper side 33a, constituting one of the sides of the right angle serves as a stop for the slide 32 in its movement towards the bottom.
- the hypotenuse 33b of the triangular tooth 33 extends downwards and forms a clearance ramp for the pawl 28.
- the two vertical wings 32b, 32c of the slide 32 are connected, by means of a linkage 34, to a substantially horizontal lever 35 housed in the sole 2 of the shoe.
- This lever 35 is articulated, at its front end, about a horizontal and transverse axis 36 and it is urged upwards by a spring 37.
- This lever 35 is hooked at its rear end, to the linkage link 34.
- On this lever 35 is supported, by means of a stud 5a, the rear posterior part of the inner sole 5.
- the device 16 for controlling the gas supply is normally in the closed position.
- the plate 21 for actuating the valve 13 is in fact pushed back, by the spring 25, into the upper extreme position and its lower tab 15 maintains the finger 14 for actuating the valve 13, in its upper upper position corresponding to the closing of this tap.
- the manual control plate 19 is also pushed back into its upper extreme position by means of the plate 21, position in which its wing lower 19b is in contact with the projection 22.
- the skier If the skier wishes to turn on the heating device, he presses down on the control button 24, which has the effect of causing the descent of the two plates 19 and 21, against the action of the spring return 25.
- the descent of the tab 15 releases the finger 14 which is then pushed back into the lower open position by the spring 14a so that the valve 13 opens and the gas can flow towards the burner 3
- the plate 19 pushes back by its lower wing 19b, the pusher 17 of the piezoelectric igniter 18, which then causes the production of a spark at electrode 8 to ignite the gas.
- the control button 24 After releasing the control button 24. the latter is automatically replaced under the action of the return spring 25, in the intermediate opening position which is shown in FIG. 1.
- the pawl 28 being thus locked its lower branch 28a constitutes a fixed stop against which the upper tab 19d of the plate 19 is applied, thereby preventing the automatic return of the two plates 19 and 21 to the closed position.
- the skier can however switch off the heating at any time by pulling the control button 24 upwards.
- the tab 19d forces on the pawl 28 and makes it pivot anticlockwise around the axis 29, thus freeing the branch upper 28b from edge 32d. From this moment the two plates 19, 21 can slide automatically upwards, under the action of the return spring 25, to pass into the closed position of the gas supply.
- FIG. 6 illustrates an alternative embodiment of the invention applied to an alpine ski boot of the type comprising a shell bottom 38 on which a rear cover 39 is hinged, around a horizontal and transverse axis 41.
- a hook 42 extending downwards this plate and which engages in the upper end part of a locking spring 43 carried by the lower part of the rear cover 39.
- This spring 43 shown in detail in FIG. 7, comprises an upper central part 43a in the form of a loop, open downwards. which is flat or which preferably forms an obtuse corner dihedral open inwards, as shown in the drawing, in order to best follow the shape of the rear cover 39.
- the two lateral branches of the strap 43a are extended, at their ends lower, by coaxial helical windings 43b and 43c surrounding a horizontal and transverse axis 44 carried by the lower and rear part of the rear cover 39.
- the coaxial helical windings 43b, 43c are in their whole extended by coplanar support branches 43d, 43e, forming an acute angle with the upper loop 43a.
- each of the support branches 43d, 43e has substantially the shape of a U open towards the bottom. the external branch of which extends both above and below the winding axis 44.
- the coplanar support branches 43d, 43e are intended to come to bear against the upper part 45a, retractable towards the bottom, of a substantially L-shaped lever 45 which comprises a substantially horizontal lower wing 45b extending forwards, under the rear posterior part of the inner sole 5.
- a return spring 46 is housed below the lower horizontal wing 45b and this spring permanently pushes this wing upwards.
- lights 47 which are inclined from top to bottom and from front to back and in these lights extend horizontal and transverse pins 48 integral with the bottom of the shell 38 to control the lever movement 45.
- lever 45 is shown in solid lines in the position it occupies when the shoe is worn and in broken lines in the opposite case. Therefore, when the shoe is worn.
- the inner sole 5 which is subjected to the pressure of the foot, presses, by its posterior end portion. on the lower horizontal wing 45b of the lever 45, which has the effect of lowering this lever 45, as a whole, from its position indicated in phantom to its position indicated in solid line. Due to the connection between the bottom of the shell 38 and the lever 45 produced by the lights sliding on the pins 48, these lights cause, due to their inclination, a displacement of the upper part of the lever 45 outwards.
- the rear face of the upper part 45a of the lever 45 constitutes a bearing surface against which the coplanar branches 43d, 43e of the spring 43 are pressed.
- This spring 43 is thus held in the locking position in which it can ensuring the retention of the hook 43, when the plate 21 is in the low open position, and therefore maintaining the gas supply control device in the open position.
- the spring 46 pushes the lower wing 45b and the lever assembly 45 upwards, which has the effect of causing this lever to pass into its rest position indicated in phantom. Due to the lights 47 and the pins 48, the rear bearing face of the upper part 45a of the lever 45 departs from the bearing branches 43d, 43c of the spring 43.
- the branches 43d, 43e of the spring 43 come into contact with an external projection 50 provided at the lower part of the rear wall of the bottom of the shell 38.
- This projection 50 constitutes a release ramp causing, when the branches 43d, 43e of the spring 43 come into contact with it, by their lower end portions, a pivoting, in the anticlockwise direction, of the whole of the spring 43 around the axis 44 so that the loop 43a of the spring 43 is detached from its connection with the hook 42.
- the hook 42 is no longer retained, it then automatically escapes the spring 43 and the device power control in gas automatically returns to the closed position.
- the automatic cut-off of the gas supply is also obtained during the tilting of the rear cover 39 towards the rear around the axis 41, even if the skier then keeps the boot on. Indeed during this opening movement of the rear cover 39 the support branches 43d, 43e of the spring 43 slide along the rear face and upper 45a of the lever 45 then at a certain moment, during the tilting movement, they escape this face by being placed at a distance from the lower and rear wall of the bottom of the shell 38 and the branches 43d and 43e of the spring 43 there again are again requested by the release ramp 50 during the tilting of the rear cover 39 in the fully open position so that the locking spring 43 is then released which causes the automatic cut off of the gas supply.
- FIG. 8 represents a variant of the device which has just been described, a variant in which the lever 45 is articulated around a horizontal and transverse axis 49 provided at the front end of its lower branch 45b. In this case, the lever 45 pivots in one direction or the other around the axis 49, either under the action of the inner sole 5 or under that of the return spring 46.
- FIGS 9,10 and 11 show an alternative embodiment of the device 16 for controlling the gas supply.
- the two adjoining plates namely the manual control plate 19 and the plate 21 for actuating the valve 13 are housed with vertical sliding in a common support 51 fixed to the rear wall of the rod 12.
- This support 51 has two opposite lateral wings 52, extending vertically by which it bears against the rear wall of the rod 12 and, between these two wings 52, a blind recess 53 closed at its lower part and opening into the upper face of the support 51.
- the compression spring 25 which bears, at its lower end, in the bottom of the housing 53 and which urges the plate 21 upwards.
- the support 51 is drilled right through, in its front part. a hole 54, of horizontal cross section of rectangular shape corresponding to the superposition of the rectangular cross sections of the two adjoining plates 19, 21 so that these two plates are closely guided in vertical sliding in the support 51.
- the means allowing relative vertical movement of the manual control plate 19 relative to the actuation plate 21 comprise a cylindrical stud 55 housed and immobilized in a notch 56 likewise length, which is formed in the front vertical edge of the manual control plate 19.
- the stud 55 projects relative to the face of the plate 19 which is in contact with the other plate 21 and it is engaged in a vertical light corresponding 27 provided in the plate 21.
- the length of the light 27 is naturally chosen to be greater than that of the stud 55 in order to allow the relative sliding movement of the plate 19 relative to the other plate 21.
- the member of the plate 19 which projects into the slot 27 of the plate 21 is constituted by a tongue 57 which is cut in the plate 19, remaining attached to the latter by one of its sides, and which is arched so as to extend in the lumen 27 of the plate 21.
- the protruding tongue 57 comprises a central part 57a located in the plane of the plate 19 and two lateral wings 57b which are arched outwards and which engage in the lumen 27, so that the tongue 57 has in cross section substantially the shape of an omega.
- the member projecting into the opening 27 of the plate 21 is constituted by a tab 58 which is cut out in the plate 19 and which is bent at right angles to so as to project from the plane of the plate 19 and to be engaged in the light 27.
