Abstract

It is proposed firstly to subject the webs (13) of material to a treatment in a superheated vapour atmosphere at normal atmospheric pressure with the circulated treatment agent being blown onto the webs (13) of material, to separate a part of the treatment agent from the treatment continuously and to subject it to a condensation operation and thus to separate and collect evaporated moisture from the webs of material as well as volatile constituents originating from impurities brought in with the webs of material and finally to dispose of them in a manner known per se. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a method for low-emission treatment, in particular drying of running webs of material such as textile webs or the like, and a device for carrying out this method.

Due to the increasing restriction of the permissible emission values for air-operated dryers for textiles or the like, especially in the industrialized countries, the expenses for exhaust air purification will increase significantly in the future. In addition to air washing devices and filters, special combustion systems are already used for this purpose, in which the contaminants discharged with the exhaust air from the dryers are to be reduced by combustion.

Practice has now shown that with these systems, which are associated with high investment and operating costs, it is only possible in part to return the additional energy expenditure required for the exhaust air combustion via heat recovery to the drying process, which means that the energy expenditure is increased considerably in relation to the same drying capacity.

By means of the present invention, these deficiencies of known drying systems are to be avoided and the object is to be achieved, using simple means, complex investments for the installation and operation of exhaust air purification systems Avoid drying completely.

To achieve this object, according to the invention it is proposed in a method of the type mentioned at the outset to subject the material webs to a treatment in a superheated steam atmosphere at normal atmospheric pressure with inflation of the treatment agent circulated onto the material webs, to continuously remove part of the treatment agent from the treatment and subject to a condensation process and thus evaporated moisture from the material webs, as well as to remove volatile components originating from impurities introduced with the material webs, to collect them and finally to dispose of them in a manner known per se.

In this process, the moisture present on the goods and the volatile impurities are evaporated and mixed into the steam atmosphere. Part of this contaminated atmosphere is constantly removed from the dryer and condensed. If necessary, the condensation process can be preceded by a compression process. The contaminants are deposited with the condensate and can be removed in this state using methods known per se without getting into the surrounding atmosphere.

If, for constructional reasons or due to air residues carried in with the material web, small additions of air to the steam atmosphere cannot be avoided and if the evaporated moisture condenses, impurities may also occur in a volatile form the condensation process can, for example, be combined with a post-combustion process for these contaminants. Due to the small volume of these volatile substances, the afterburning system can in this case turn out to be orders of magnitude smaller than the combustion systems for air dryers and accordingly requires lower investment and above all operating costs.

In order to be able to work fully within the meaning of the invention right at the start of the drying process, according to a further feature of the invention the required freedom from air should be achieved from the start by steam filling the treatment room.

A device for performing this method can be carried out in such a way that a largely or completely gas or steam-tight dryer housing is designed as a steam bell, in which the entry and exit of the webs from the bottom of the lower part of the housing arranged inlet and Outlet openings occur and that on the dryer housing a discharge connected to a heat exchange device is provided for the steam vapors generated during the drying process. It is expedient to arrange seals at the entry and exit of the webs into and out of the dryer housing, which in a preferred embodiment of a device according to the invention device should be designed as locks connected to suction devices.

Since the specific heat transfer in a steam atmosphere can be lower than in air dryers, a dryer which works according to the method according to the invention can have a larger content of goods compared to air dryers for the same dryer performance. The slightly higher investment costs can be more than compensated for by the elimination of the known complex post-combustion systems in air dryers. In order to further reduce the construction volume, the webs can be guided in the dryer housing between the inlet and outlet in several passages one above the other or next to one another.

The invention will be explained in more detail below on the basis of the exemplary embodiment for a device according to the invention, which is shown schematically in the accompanying drawing.

The drawing shows a dryer designed as a multi-level frame 18, through the treatment room of which the web 13 is guided for treatment by means of vertical chains (not shown) in a known manner. It can be seen that the dryer housing 10 is, as it were, bell-shaped, ie with the inlet and outlet openings for the web at the bottom of the housing. In this way, the treatment room can be largely from air, the even could be brought in with the web, keep it clear, as it is heavier than the steam used for drying and would collect in the bottom of the dryer, from where it could then be removed from the dryer.

In order to prevent the introduction or entry of air into the dryer housing as completely as possible, there are locks 17 connected to a suction device at the entry and exit of the material web into and out of the dryer housing in addition to seals 16.

The guidance of the superheated steam used for drying is indicated in the drawing by arrows. After the treatment, in which the steam is blown onto the web 13 in a known manner by means of nozzles arranged in nozzle bodies, the steam is removed from the treatment, passed through heating register 19 and then blown again onto the web.

A portion of the vapor atmosphere provided with contaminants evaporated from the web during drying is continuously led out of the dryer housing 10 through a line 15 and condensed in a heat exchanger 14. The contaminants are deposited with the condensate and can be collected in a collecting container 20, from which they are then disposed of using known methods can without getting into the surrounding atmosphere.
