Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the technical field of the constitution of palletizable loads of various products, which are thus organized in unitary storage or transport assembly.
  • the present invention relates, more specifically, to the formation of palletizable fillers from containers and, more particularly, from bottles arranged in different bunk beds.
  • the subject of the invention relates, still more precisely, to the storage and transport of empty bottles in the form of palletized loads, either in the factory, during the manufacturing, washing or bottling processes, or, again, during their transport between manufacturing and use sites.
  • a first bed of bottles is placed upright on a pallet.
  • An intermediate plate is placed on the necks of the bottles of the first bed, so as to allow the establishment of a bunk bed resting on the intermediate plate.
  • the set of bunk beds is then surrounded by a cover or cover made of heat-shrinkable plastic material aimed at exerting an enveloping constraint giving cohesion to the bunk beds.
  • the interlayer trays based on a single sheet, made of cardboard or plastic, must necessarily have a significant thickness to offer sufficient mechanical resistance to the punching effect introduced by each bottle neck. If such a requirement can be accepted, the experiments which have been carried out from such platforms thick have shown that they were unable to ensure sufficient interlit cohesion to oppose a relative sliding between the beds.
  • Such a gap is observed, mainly, when the cover of heat-shrinkable material undergoes relaxation, in particular during the rise in temperature of the surrounding medium. In such a case, the wrapping stress decreases and introduces a relative freedom capable of causing the sliding of any bed of the stack. A risk of misappropriation of the stacks of bottles is therefore to be considered, in particular during handling and transport. It is frequent to note, in these conditions, a collapse of all the bunk beds leading to the destruction of the pallet but, also, of most, if not all the bottles constituting it.
  • Such trays are, generally, shaped so that the raw material of the sheet is pinched between the rim of the necks of the bottles of the lower bed and the stitched or semi-stitched bottom of the bases of the bottles of a bunk bed.
  • the transverse immobilization is, generally, assumed by means of bosses, nipples or moles rising from the upper face of the plate to fit, over a determined height, the bases of the bottles and move them away from one of the 'other.
  • the conformations which are imparted to the intermediate plates are, generally, produced so as to provide just support on the necks of the lower bottles. If the cover is made of heat-shrinkable material, such support is not sufficient to oppose, in particular during handling and transport, the relative sliding of one bed relative to another. Risks of collapse frequently occur with the negative consequences attached to it.
  • this prior technique provides a proposition which is not capable of solving the real problem. That poses the constitution of a palletizable load, from superimposed bottle beds, successively separated by an intermediate plate having to assume a first support and alignment function of the bottles stacked in columns and a second immobilization function in the plane horizontal of two bunk beds, while avoiding the risk of abuse.
  • the present invention aims, precisely, to solve this problem by proposing a new intermediate plate, of the preformed type, very particularly designed to meet the above requirements.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide a preformed tray that can be used for bottles having, indifferently, flat bottoms, semi-stitched or, again, stitched.
  • the object of the invention is, mainly, based on the proposal consisting in producing an intermediate plate ensuring the support, the centering and the immobilization of the bottle beds, not like those of the prior art by means of the caps of the latter but, on the contrary, from the necks of the bottles of each lower bed.
  • the intermediate plate according to the invention of the type comprising a plastic plate, thermoformed to comprise, from its upper face, on the one hand, projecting bosses implanted in a square mesh and defining by each mesh a cell for receiving a base of a bottle and, on the other hand, in the center of each cell, a conformation comprising, set back from the plane of the plate, an annular bowl from which raises a nipple formed by a frustoconical wall connected to a substantially cylindrical closed extension defining, from the underside of the plate a fitting cap for the neck of a bottle belonging to a lower bed on which the tray is placed, is characterized in that: - the tray is formed by a plate of cellular material, the cap has a top having, on its internal face, a projecting button delimiting, with the substantially cylindrical extension, a groove for embedding the neck of a bottle and the height of which is greater than the radius of the rim of the neck, - The nipple
  • Fig. 1 shows, schematically, the constitution of a palletizable load from bottles 1 which are arranged to form beds L1, L2 ... superimposed from a pallet 2 .
  • the constitution of such a charge involves the interposition, between each bunk bed, of an intermediate plate 3 which must assume a first function of centering the bottles superimposed in the different beds, a second function of retaining or immobilizing one bed relative to another to avoid relative sliding in a plane substantially horizontal and a third function of relative isolation of the bottles to avoid their surface contact and friction.
  • a load comprises six or seven bunk beds which are wrapped, like the pallet, by a cover or cap made of heat-shrinkable plastic.
  • the plate 3 according to the invention is constituted by a plate 4 made of a plastic material, called a honeycomb.
  • a plate 4 made of a plastic material, called a honeycomb.
  • cellular material it is appropriate to retain, in particular, a material developed in foam at an appropriate density to allow a subsequent conformation by thermoforming or, alternatively, preferably according to the invention, a material obtained by extrusion and comprising two walls 4 a and 4 b which are joined together by spacers 5 .
  • a plate 4 thus constituted can be considered to be assimilated, by analogy, to a plate of corrugated cardboard single flutes, double face.
  • the raw material chosen to produce such a plate must be of the thermoplastic type, so as to allow subsequent conformation by thermoforming.
  • a particularly suitable raw material is polypropylene.
  • the plate 4 is shaped to comprise, projecting from its upper face, such as 4a, bosses 6 located in a square mesh.
  • the bosses 6 are preferably substantially cylindrical-conical, having a flat top 7 connected, by a rounded edge 8 ( fig. 3 ), to a peripheral wall 9 itself connected to the general plane P of the plate by a fillet 10 .
  • the bosses 6 are shaped so that four of them, defining a square mesh, delimit a kind of cell 11 whose dimension, taken on the diagonal of the square mesh, is slightly greater than the diameter of the base 12 of a bottle 13 , for example of 75 cl.
  • the plate 4 is made to further comprise, in the center of each cell 11 , a conformation 14 set back from the plane P of the plate and projecting relative to the underside 4 b .
  • the conformation 14 delimits an annular bowl 15 comprising a peripheral edge 16 and a flat area 17 from which rises a nipple 18 whose apex can be located in the plane P or above the latter, being, in this case, placed below the tops 7 of the bosses 6 .
  • Fig. 3 shows, on a larger scale, the particular conformation of the plate 4 in relation to a cell 11 .
  • the plate 4 has a constant thickness to allow a better appreciation of the local conformation of the conformation 14 .
  • the conformations provided have the effect of locally modifying the thickness of the plate by more or less significant crushing of the spacers 5 in particular.
  • the nipple 18 is formed by a frustoconical wall 19 rising from the area 17 and connected to a substantially cylindrical extension 20 , closed by a top 21 with which it constitutes a cap C.
  • the top 21 has a central depression forming a sort of button 22 projecting from the internal face.
  • the button 22 defines, with the substantially cylindrical extension 20 , an annular groove 23 whose radial width is substantially equal to the thickness of the neck 24 of a bottle 13 .
  • the cap C is able to fit the neck 24 which is thus embedded in the annular groove 23 .
  • the depression gives the groove 23 a height h greater than the radius r of the lip 25 of the neck 24 .
  • the substantially cylindrical extension 20 has a height H which is at least equal to the height h .
  • the height H is preferably chosen to be greater than the height h and advantageously has a measure sufficient to allow the fitting, at least partially, of the ring 26 of the neck 24 .
  • the annular groove 23 has a width substantially equal to that of the neck 24 in line with the ring 26 .
  • the nipple 18 is shaped to include radiating ribs 27 formed in the extension 20 , the wall 19 and the track 17 .
  • the ribs 27 connect, and, the cap C to the upper face 4a of the plate, constituting the hollow stiffening beams opposing any axial displacement on the cap C by bending the wall 19.
  • the bottles are also distant from each other, which avoids any surface contact and eliminates the risk of breakage but also and above all the abuse by friction.
  • a plate 32 is placed on the necks 24 of the various bottles constituting the bed L1 .
  • This positioning has the effect of presenting the frustoconical walls 19 , forming open cones, in approximate relationship with the necks 24 which center, naturally, thus assigning the exact position of each bottle of the bed L1 in the cell 11 .
  • the adaptation of the plate 32 implies an elastic deformation of the caps C to ensure the introduction of the necks 24 into the annular grooves 23 and the embedding of the rims 25 .
  • the interlocking and embedding of each neck 24 results in an expansive radial deformation which is authorized by the choice of the raw material constituting the plate 4 .
  • the drink 25 is, in fact, embedded inside the annular groove 23 , while being enveloped externally by the substantially cylindrical extension 20 .
  • the fact of conferring on the button 22 a height h greater than the radius r makes it possible to obtain, in the event of a relative sliding in one or the other direction of the arrow f of the plate 32 relative to the bed of bottles L1 , an arch between the internal peripheral edge of the button 22 and the internal peripheral face of the extension 20 , that the latter only envelops the rim 25 or also the ring 26 .
  • This arching is opposed to a pivoting of the bottles of the bed L1 and to a relative displacement of the plate 32 on which the bed L2 rests.
  • the intermediate plate according to the invention ensures the maintenance and immobilization of the bottles together and of the bottles belonging to bunk beds, only by adapting each plate by means of the caps C on the necks of the different bottles which are, simply, centered during installation, by cooperation of the caps 12 with the leaves 10 of the cells 11 , without the latter directly assuming a centering function, nesting and holding.
  • the support of the superimposed bottle beds is carried out by adaptation of the heel of the base 12 of each of them on the seat 28 , without the result of cooperation between the flat bottom, semi-quilted or quilted and the neck from the bottle of the next lower bed, by pinching the nipple cap 18 .
  • a relative deformation of this cap can therefore occur, in relation to the manufacturing tolerances, without prejudice to the qualities of vertical immobilization and horizontal retention between the bottles of the various bunk beds.
  • the example given in fig. 3 relates to a plate whose nipples have been made so that the top 21 of each of them rises above the plane P of the plate.
  • This heightening measure is illustrated in relation to a bottle 12 having a semi-pitted bottom. It is obvious that the same plate could also be used for the support of bottles 13 with a pitted bottom.
  • the object of the invention can be achieved so that the tops 21 are located in the plane P.
  • the intermediate plate can be used, indifferently, for bottles 13 with pitted, semi-pitted or flat bottom.
  • each bowl 15 has a peripheral edge 16 extending substantially perpendicular to the general plane P of the plate 4 .
  • This arrangement makes it possible to give the seat 28 great mechanical resistance to the compressive forces which can be exerted by the self-weight of the superimposed beds of bottles and / or by the stresses during handling and transport.
  • Figs. 5 and 6 show an alternative embodiment consisting in producing the conformations 14 so as to have, in the edge 16 of each bowl 15 , stiffening imprints 30 substantially in the form of ears.
  • the imprints 30 are preferably provided equidistant angularly, being, for example, interposed with the ribs 27 . Such imprints make it possible to further stiffen the seat 28 and to provide better characteristics of crush resistance at edge 16 .
  • the imprints 30 are also shaped so that their bottom 31 is established in the same plane as the pad 17 , so as to increase the surface of the latter and to form support pads which are important for the stability of the plate when it is placed immediately in contact with the pallet 2 to receive the bases of the bottles constituting the first bed L1 .
