Definitions

  • the present invention relates generally to locks, and it relates more particularly to the safety member, commonly called cylinder, block or barrel, suitable for the operation of their mechanism.
  • a safety cylinder for a lock comprises, overall, rotatably mounted in a stator, as described by example in British Patent No. 6783 AD 1912, at least one rotor having, parallel to its axis, a conduit suitable for the introduction of a key, with, in said rotor, at least one piston mounted movable transversely relative to said conduit , so as to be able to protrude therein and thus to be able to cooperate with such a key, and, in correspondence, in said stator, a counter-piston whose interface with the piston does not coincide with that between the rotor and the stator only when an adequate key is in place in said conduit.
  • It can be either a simple cylinder, which has only one rotor, and to which is attached, at the end of the conduit thereof, a cam forming a bit for the mechanism to be controlled, as well as a cylinder double, which, for the same stator, then formed in practice of two identical half-stators arranged one after the other, comprises, in alignment with one another, two identical rotors, l 'One for the actuation of the lock on one side of the cylinder, the other for its actuation on the side opposite to the previous one.
  • this movable member constitutes a kind of lever, which, arranged in a buttonhole of the active part of the key, is pivotally mounted about a transverse axis with respect to the longitudinal axis thereof.
  • the present invention generally relates to a provision which, while also making it difficult to reproduce a key, is advantageously capable of being made more economically.
  • a safety cylinder for a lock of the type comprising, rotatably mounted in a stator, at least one rotor having, parallel to its axis, a conduit suitable for the introduction of a key, with, in said rotor, at least one piston mounted movable transversely with respect to said conduit, so as to be able to project therein and thus to be able to cooperate with such a key, and, in correspondence, in said stator, a counter-piston whose interface with the piston only merges with that between the rotor and the stator when a suitable key is in place in said conduit,
  • this safety cylinder being generally characterized in that, for cooperation with a key whose end of the active part as a whole forms a tip mounted oscillating with respect to the current portion of this active part, the duct of the rotor has, at a distance from its inlet outlet, and in the direction opposite to it, a flare suitable for allowing tilting of said oscillating end piece, with,
  • the present invention also relates to a key suitable for the implementation of such a safety cylinder, this key being generally characterized in that the end of its active part forms a tip which, as a whole , and, within the limits of an angular displacement determined by means of stop, is mounted oscillating with respect to the current portion of this active part.
  • the movable member associated with the active part of the key constitutes, according to the invention, no longer, an annex member to be housed in a recess of this active part, but a real portion of this active part, in this case its end portion.
  • this end portion generally extends in the extension of the corresponding current portion of the active part.
  • the general appearance of the key according to the invention, and its handling, advantageously resemble those of a conventional key of the same type.
  • the corresponding articulation is provided to allow more or less accentuated folding of these two portions relative to one another during storage of the key.
  • the two portions of which the active part of the key according to the invention is thus made up can advantageously be of different natures.
  • the oscillating end piece forming its end portion can be completely smooth, the notches, holes or notches constituting its combination elements then only affecting the current, rigid portion of its active part.
  • this oscillating endpiece may have, longitudinally, at least one groove.
  • this perforated screen then forms a sort of filter with regard to the introduction of the key, only a key having a suitably grooved oscillating tip capable of passing through it.
  • the current portion of the game active key can either be smooth, in which case only its oscillating tip is grooved, or itself have grooves.
  • the safety cylinder 10 comprises, rotatably mounted in a stator 11, along a cylindrical interface 27, at least one rotor 12 having, parallel to its axis , a conduit 13 suitable for the introduction of a key 15.
  • the conduit 13 extends axially from an inlet outlet 16A to an outlet outlet 16B to the right of which is arranged, as shown diagrammatically, and in broken lines, in FIG. 1, a cam 18, forming a bit, which , intended to be actuated by the key 15, is suitable for controlling the mechanism to be operated, itself not shown.
  • a single rotor 12 is provided.
  • the rotor 12 is duly calibrated axially with respect to the stator 11.
  • shoulders 20A, 20B the first on the side of the inlet outlet 16A of its conduit 13, the second on the side of the outlet outlet 16B thereof.
  • a counter-piston 23 which is itself mounted movable transversely relative to the duct 13 of the rotor 12, and which, under the stress of a spring 24 taking pressing on a plug 25 closing the bore in which it struggles, bears directly on the piston 21 with which it is associated.
  • the rotor 12 can be controlled in rotation.
  • FIG. 1 the various counter-pistons 23 used more or less interfere with the interface 27 between the rotor 12 and the stator 11, so that any rotation of this rotor 12 is prohibited.
  • the key 15 comprises an active part 30, by which it is adapted to penetrate into the duct 13 of the rotor 12, for cooperation with the pistons 21, and, more precisely with the head 22 of these , and a ring 31.
  • the active part 30 of the key 15 can for example be flat.
  • this active part 30 has a uniform rectangular cross section over its entire length.
  • this active part 30 can be rhombic, that is to say have a cross section in the shape of a largely flat hexagon.
  • the duct 13 of the rotor 12 of the cylinder 10 has a cross section complementary to that of the active part 30 of such a key 15.
  • this active part 30 forms a nozzle 30B, which, as a whole, and, in practice, as will appear below, within the limits of an angular movement D determined by stop means, is mounted to oscillate with respect to the current portion 30A of this active part 30.
  • this oscillating end piece 30B forms two knuckles 32, and, by these, it frames a central knuckle 33 belonging to the associated current portion 30A.
  • the central knuckle 33 of the current portion 30A extends in the median zone of a recess 34 provided at the end of this current portion 30A, so that the lips 35 of this recess 34 form, for the oscillating end piece 30B, the abutment means capable of limiting the angular movement D.
  • the central knuckle 33 of the current portion 30A of the active part 30 projects from the end edge thereof, and the stop means associated with the oscillating end piece 30B result from the fact that, unlike the previous arrangement, the knuckles 32 of the oscillating end piece 30B have an enveloping shape with respect to the current portion 30A associated, thereby forming abutment heels 35 ′ on either side of the corresponding part thereof.
  • these abutment heels 35 ′ are formed by inclined, V-shaped faces, FIG. 13, or intersecting, FIG. 14.
  • the oscillating end piece 30B which comprises a central knuckle while, in the manner of a yoke, the associated running portion 30A comprises two knuckles suitable for cooperating with the previous one.
  • the pivot axis 36 of the oscillating end piece 30B extends transversely, in the thickness of the active part 30, in the direction of greatest elongation of the cross section of it.
  • the angular movement D of this oscillating end piece 30B is much less than 45 °.
  • this oscillating end piece 30B extends overall in the extension of the current portion 30A with which it is associated.
  • these elastic return means comprise, for each knuckle 32, a leaf spring 37 established between such a knuckle 32 and the running portion 30A.
  • the active part 30 of the key 15 according to the invention is thus successively formed of two separate portions, namely a running portion 30A, which, in practice, is rigidly linked to the associated ring 31, and an oscillating end piece 30B, linked by a tilting pin 36 to the preceding running portion 30A.
  • only the current portion 30A of such an active part 30 has the combination elements suitable for cooperating with the pistons 21 of the rotor 12 of the cylinder 10.
  • these blind holes 39 affect both one and / or the other of the edges of this current portion 30A as one and / or the other of its dishes.
  • the oscillating end piece 30B has, longitudinally, at least one groove 40.
  • grooves 40 can thus be provided, parallel to each other, and according to various profiles, on one and / or the other of the plates of this oscillating end piece 30B, or even on one and / or the other of his songs.
  • the oscillating end piece 30B has, overall, a cross section identical to that of the current portion 30A which it extends, or, at least, of the same overall outline as that of the latter.
  • its end edge is generally straight, having, however, its edges cut down by chamfers.
  • this end edge is more or less tapered, being generally rounded both longitudinally and transversely.
  • the duct 13 of the rotor 12 of the cylinder 10 has, according to the invention, at distance from its inlet outlet 16A, and in the opposite direction thereto, a flaring 42 suitable for authorizing a tilting of this oscillating end piece 30B, with, on the one hand, opening into said flaring 42, a piston 44 with a head 45, to which, according to arrangements of the type described above, there is associated a counter-piston 46, and, on the other hand, deflection means capable of causing an effective tilting of said oscillating end piece 30B towards said piston 44, for its action on it.
  • the flare 42 is defined by at least one inclined face 43 which is generally oblique with respect to the axis of the conduit 13, and against which the end piece comes to bear. oscillating 30B of the active part 30 of the key 15 when it is deflected.
  • only such an inclined face 43 can thus be provided to define the flare 42.
  • the rotor 12 consists of two portions 12A, 12B made integral with one another by pins 48 suitably in taken, by force, with both of them.
  • the duct 13 therefore remains straight and of uniform rectangular cross section over its entire length.
  • this duct 13 In practice, and as visible in FIG. 4, the corresponding surfaces of this duct 13 are smooth.
  • the deflection means provided for the oscillating tip 30B of the active part 30 of the key 15 are constituted by a projection 50 acting on a pan 51 of the flaring 42 of the duct 13 of the rotor 12 opposite to that on which the piston 44 on which it must act acts.
  • this projection 50 is formed by the end of a screw 54 which extends generally transversely relative to the duct 13.
  • the oscillating end piece 30B of the active part 30 of the key 15 has grooves 40, it intervenes, between the inlet outlet 16A of the conduit 13 of the rotor 12 of the safety cylinder 10 according to the invention and the flaring 42 of this duct 13, an openwork screen 56 of which at least part of the contour, forming a filter, is crenellated in the image of the contour resulting from said grooves 40 for this oscillating end piece 30B.
  • the perforated screen 56 thus has, on one and the other of its sides corresponding to the flats of the oscillating end piece 30B, projections 57, which, each respectively, have an implantation and a profile complementary to the layout and profile of the grooves 40 of this oscillating end piece 30B.
  • FIG. 12 it has such projections 57 only on one of its sides; the oscillating end piece 30B can then only have grooves 40 on one of its flats, but, in the case of a reversible key 15, it must have the same on both of them -this.
  • the perforated screen 56 thus implemented preferably intervenes at the root of the flare 42 of the duct 13 of the rotor 12.
  • the rotor 12 can be controlled in rotation by the key 15.
  • the projection 50 is formed by a stud 54 ′, which, instead of extending substantially radially relative to the rotor 12, like the screw 54 above, extends along a cord of it, partly biting in its thickness, and partly overlapping in the flare 42 of its internal duct 13.
  • this stud 54 ′ can itself serve as a filter, then presenting, for example, one or more grooves.
  • the perforated screen 56 forms a separate piece inserted transversely between the two portions 12A, 12B of the rotor 12, extending over the entire interface between these two portions 12A, 12B.
  • This perforated screen 56 can thus be made of a different material than that of the rotor 12.
  • the rotor 12 is made of brass, it can be made of treated steel, then locally forming a shield capable of more effectively opposing attempts to break in by drilling.
  • the pins 48 which secure the two portions 12A, 12B of the rotor 12 to one another then jointly secure the perforated screen 56 to the latter.
  • the perforated screen 56 also forms a separate part, but, the rotor 12 being a single piece, the latter is engaged transversely in a groove 60 in this rotor 12.
  • this groove 60 and therefore the perforated screen 56, crosses the duct 13 of the rotor 12.
  • the groove 60 can only open into this conduit 13, without passing through the latter, the perforated screen 56, which then only has projections 57 on its side, as in the alternative embodiment shown in FIG. 12, while only tangent this conduit 13.
  • this screen is also here called “perforated” screen.
  • the shoulder 20B necessary for its axial retention relative to the stator 11 belongs, for example, in the embodiment shown in FIG. 9, against a plate 61, suitably attached, for example by screws 62, to this rotor 12.
  • the counterplate 61 is then constituted by a split elastic ring engaged in a groove of an extension, provided for this purpose, of the rotor 12.
  • the deflection means provided, in the flaring 42 of the duct 13 of the rotor 12, for the oscillating end piece 30B of the active part 30 of the key 15, are made up by a magnet 65 acting on the inclined face 43 of this flare 42.
  • this magnet 65 surrounds the piston 44 present on this inclined face 43.
  • this oscillating tip 30B is then made of steel.
  • the flaring 42 of the duct 13 results from a simple lateral recess of the latter, parallel to its axis, the oscillating end piece 30B, once deflected, then finding its support beyond of the piston 44 on which it must act.
  • the key according to the invention can either be reversible or not.
  • the tilting axis of this oscillating endpiece extends, transversely, in the direction of greatest elongation of the cross section of the active part of the key, in the thickness even of this, it can, as well, as a variant, extend perpendicular to this thickness, parallel to the direction of smallest elongation of said cross section.
