Definitions
- the present invention relates to an electric clock comprising a plate surmounted by a dial, time display needles, a case back, a crystal and fixing means for making the board of the case back integral.
- the originality of the present invention consists in the manner of assembling the various components of the clock, these components mainly comprising a plate and a case back.
- the clock of the invention is characterized in that the plate carries a motor and a cog driven by said motor, said cog in turn driving the time display hands, which the caseback carries the electrical and electronic elements necessary for controlling the engine and that the electrical connections between the engine and the electrical and electronic elements are established when the case back is secured to the plate.
- Figure 1 is an overview of the clock according to the invention. It includes a bezel 22 surrounding a graduated dial 40 on which the hour 82 and minute 100 hands turn.
- the clock is supported by a pedestal 4. If the clock has an alarm or alarm function, a marker 140 indicates the time alarm, time which can be chosen at will by manually turning the bezel 22, as will appear in the explanations which will be given below.
- FIG. 2 is a section through the clock of FIG. 1.
- This clock essentially comprises a case back 10, a plate 28, a bezel 22 and a crystal 16.
- the plate 28 is surmounted by a dial 40, itself even surmounted by the hour 82 and minute 100 display needles.
- Fixing means for making the plate 28 integral with the backband 10 are shown in FIG. 2 in the form of balusters 30 made in one piece with the backband 10.
- Each of the posts 30 has at its top a tenon 32 which passes through a hole 34 in the plate, the end of said tenon having been flattened to form a head 36. If the bottom middle is made of plastic , this head can be formed in causing the tenon 32 to melt. This head is formed at the bottom of a bowl 41 so as not to hinder the fitting of the dial 40.
- the section in FIG. 2 also shows that the case-back 10 is completed by a bezel 22.
- This bezel carries the glass 16 which is fixed to it, for example by gluing.
- the bezel has an outer edge 8 which presses on the backband 10 and an inner edge provided with a rim 26 on which rests the thinned periphery 50 of the plate 28.
- this bezel 22 may very well be an integral part of the case back 10.
- the invention relates to the fact that the plate comprises a motor and a driven train on said motor, that the case-back carries the electrical elements necessary for controlling the motor and that the electrical connections between the engine and the electrical elements are established when the case back is secured to the plate.
- the backband 10 carries the electrical and electronic elements necessary to actuate the motor, in particular a printed circuit 3 provided with contact tracks 51, 53, 55, 57, a quartz 7 , an integrated circuit 9 and a battery 130.
- the plate 28 carries a motor whose coil 11 is shown. To this coil are connected terminals formed by elastic blades 15 and 17 each having a fold 19. The elastic blades are fixed to the plate 28. As shown in FIG.
- the blades 15 and 17 come into contact with tracks 55 and 57 only when the case back 10 is placed under the plate 28.
- the cog forming part of the plate 28 is symbolized by the rectangle 21 so as not to unnecessarily complicate the drawing.
- the clock of FIG. 2 also carries an alarm device.
- the bezel 22 is rotatably mounted both on the backband 10 and around the plate 28.
- this assembly which comprises a device of the type coinciding with two contact points, the first point is a drop 90 lifted on an annular conductive plate 88 secured to the hour wheel and the second point is a drop 68 lifted on an annular conductive plate 66 of the alarm or alarm wheel, the latter being controlled manually.
- These two wheels are mounted coaxially. On the annular plate 88 rubs a feeler 126 and on the annular plate 66 rubs a feeler 128.
- FIG. 3 is a bottom view of the plate 28 mounted with all of its elements, seen along arrows III-III of FIG. 2.
- the plate 28 with its thinned periphery 50 has various reinforcing ribs referenced 23.
- the plate is pierced with four holes 34 intended to receive the pins 32 of the columns 30 carried by the backband 10.
- the plate 28 carries a motor referenced 117 whose the coil 11 can be seen.
- the output wires from the coil 11 (not shown) are connected to terminals formed in part by elastic blades referenced respectively by 15 and 17.
- the end 25 of these blades is intended to come into contact with tracks 55 and 57 located on the printed circuit of the backband as seen in FIG. 2.
- a motor terminal appears better in FIG. 4 which is a section along line IV-IV of the Figure 3.
- This terminal is formed of a blade 29 fixed on the plate 28 by means of heads 31 forming an integral part of the plate.
- This blade is folded to then form the elastic contact 17, folded in turn twice so that the end 25 of the contact is at right angles to the track of the printed circuit.
- the rotor of the motor carries a pinion 113 which drives a first intermediate wheel 111 provided with a pinion 109.
- the pinion 109 drives a second intermediate wheel 107 provided with a pinion 105.
- the pinion 105 drives a third intermediate wheel 102 provided with a pinion 103.
- the pinion 103 drives the minute wheel 98 which drives by the pinion 96 integral with the minute wheel, the hour wheel 80 by means of the timer formed by the wheel 108 and the pinion 110.
- the wheel 98 is a barrel wheel which carries the minute hand 82 and the hour wheel 80 also has a barrel which is inside the barrel of the minute wheel and which carries the hour hand 100.
- the axis of the alarm wheel 60 Inside of the barrel of the hour wheel is the axis of the alarm wheel 60, said axis being integral with an annular central projection 18 carried by the glass 16 (see FIG. 2) in such a way that, when it is pivoted the rotating bezel, we drive the disq revolving alarm clock.
- an annular conductive plate 88 on which is lifted a drop 90 to the hour wheel 80 is linked an annular conductive plate 66 on which is lifted a drop 68.
- the dependence of these plates on the glass 16 and its projection 18, respectively, and the hour hand 82 is shown in FIG. 2 by the dotted lines 33 and 35.
- the feelers 126 and 128 pressing respectively on the plates 88 and 66 also appear in FIG. 3 which shows in detail how they are connected to the elastic blades 127 and 129 respectively.
- the probe 128 is made in one piece with the blade 129. It is the same for the probe 126 and the blade 127. Probes and blades are supported and fixed to pins 37 made in one piece with the platinum 28.
- FIG. 5 is a view of the interior of the case back 10 illustrated in Figure 2, according to the arrows VV of this figure 2.
- the printed circuit 3 is fixed to the bottom of the case back 10 by means of pins 61 and 63 and heads 65 and 67.
- the printed circuit carries various conductors 5, shown in dotted lines, and the contact tracks 51, 53, 55 and 57 intended to come into contact with the blades 129, 127, 15 and 17 respectively, when the plate is mounted on the backband.
- the circuit 3 carries a quartz 7 and an integrated circuit 9, as well as contact blades 69 and 71 intended to connect an audible warning device 136 fixed in the back case 10.
- a mercury switch 132 enables the warning device to be activated. or off depending on the position of the clock.
- FIG. 5 also shows four balusters 30 provided with their tenon 32, the latter coming to thread into the holes 34 of the plate 28.
- the supply stack 130 accessible by a hatch 73 made in the back case.
