Definitions
- the invention relates to a miniature plug-in coupling for use in telecommunications equipment, in particular for attachment to a printed circuit board, which is used, for example, in a subrack as a wiring rear wall.
- a plug-in coupling according to the preamble of claim 1 is already known from the design for type M connectors according to DIN 41612 / Part 8.
- the connection pins are designed as solder connections and are arranged at right angles to the direction of insertion. The plug axis of the coaxial contacts thus extend parallel to the PCB level in the installed position.
- a printed circuit board is also known from EP 0 195 955 A1, which is interspersed with contact pins arranged in a grid.
- the printed circuit board represents the wiring back wall of a subrack, in the electrical assemblies provided with socket strips from the front and inserted into the contact pins protruding from the inside. Cable plugs connected to lead wires are pushed onto the part of the contact pins protruding from the rear of the rack.
- the invention has for its object to provide a miniature construction plug connector for a usable in a subrack as a wiring backplane, which on the one hand allows a connection with a coaxial cable and on the other hand connections with two contact elements of the socket strip of a conventional assembly.
- This object is achieved by the constructive measures specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. Further configurations of the plug-in coupling can be found in the subclaims.
- the socket part of the miniature plug-in coupling is designated by 1. It consists of an essentially sleeve-shaped metal housing 2 with a tab 3 protruding laterally at the base and whose connection end located in the upper half of the sleeve part is designed as a socket contact.
- the coaxial contact 5 is fastened in the metal housing 2 by injecting plastic, a space 7 being left open in the upper half of the sleeve, but the inner wall of the sleeve part being lined with insulating material 4.
- the coaxial contact 5 has a holding part 8, which consists, for example, of tabs formed on the side.
- the metal housing 2 is provided with a constriction 9 which at least partially reduces the inside diameter of the sleeve part and which also serves to latch the complementary plug part.
- the tab 3 of the Metal housing 2 passes through an opening 10 into which the rear end of a plug pin 11 which is the same as the connection end of the coaxial contact 5 is fastened, for example by pressing, soldering or riveting, etc.
- the opening 10 has a cross section adapted to the plug pin 11, which can be round or angular.
- Coaxial contacts of the described design form the interface from the unshielded multi-pole plug technology to a coaxial cable plug system, which allows a high packing density. Therefore, the two plug pins 6, 11 of the socket part 1 are arranged at a distance corresponding to the grid of the socket strip of an assembly. This distance, which is, for example, 2.54 mm, also has corresponding bores in the printed circuit board 12 used in the subrack as the wiring rear wall, in the bores of which the socket part 1 is fastened by simply pressing in the plug pins 6 and 11.
- the two connector pins 6, 11 are each provided with a corresponding press-in zone 13, which is arranged directly behind the metal housing 2 and which together give the socket part 1 a mechanical hold.
- the socket part 1 is fastened in such a way that the plug pins 6, 11 are on the assembly side and the metal housing 2 is on the cable plug side.
- the metal housing 2 is preferably a one-piece investment casting made of brass and the plug-in side of the printed circuit board 12 has a metal covering 14 with ground potential with cutouts in the passage area of the coaxial contact 5, the metal housing 2 can still be connected to the metal covering 14 by soldering. Because of this, can the end of the plug pin 11 serving as a 0 volt pin, which is fastened in the tab 3, can also be additionally soldered to the metal housing 2 in the opening 10, if necessary.
- the plug part of the miniature plug-in coupling is designated by 15. It consists of a sleeve-shaped metal housing 16 which has a central section 17 with a reduced inside diameter and again a slight expansion in the center of the section. In this section 17, a tubular coaxial contact 19, laterally provided with a holding part 18, is fastened by extrusion coating with insulating material 20.
- the inner conductor When connecting a coaxial cable (not shown), the inner conductor is soldered into the cavity 21 of the tubular coaxial contact 19.
- a plurality of openings 23 penetrating the wall of the metal housing 16 in the rear sleeve part 22 serve to produce soldered connections between the shielding jacket of the coaxial cable ending in the sleeve part and the housing of the plug part 15 rear sleeve part 22 adapted to the outer diameter of the coaxial cable provided for the connection.
- the front sleeve part 24 of the metal housing 16 protecting the coaxial contact 19 has a constriction 25 near the insertion opening, the convex part of which corresponds to the concave part of the constriction 9 of the socket part 1.
- the sleeve part 24 with at least one, but preferably with several Provided circumferentially evenly spaced slots 26 which extend in the axial direction of the metal housing 16 and form resilient fingers.
- a spring ring 27 is inserted into the bead formed by the constriction 25 on the front sleeve part 24. This and the resilient fingers cause the two halves of the miniature plug-in coupling to engage with one another when the connection is made.
- the front edge penetrates from the metal housing 2 of the socket part 1 into a corresponding annular groove 28 in the metal housing 16 of the plug part 15 and fills it completely.
- the annular groove 28 is arranged on the plug side in the middle section 17 of the metal housing 16. The housing edge slightly protruding from the insulating material 20 and the annular groove 28 thus form an effective seal against electromagnetic interference radiation.
- the miniature plug-in coupling can be manufactured with extremely small dimensions.
- the diameter of the metal housing 2 from the socket part 1 in the cylindrical region containing the coaxial contact 5 is approximately 2.5 mm and the diameter of the metal housing 16 from the plug part 15 is only approximately 3 mm; the length of the socket part 1 approx. 7 mm and that of the plug part 15 approx. 11 mm.
- These small dimensions allow several plug parts 15 to be fastened in an insulating body designed as a cable plug. In this way, cable plugs with different numbers of poles can be produced as required, which can be connected to the socket parts 1 fastened to the wiring rear wall of a subrack.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a miniature plug-in coupling for use in telecommunications equipment, in particular for attachment to a printed circuit board, which is used, for example, in a subrack as a wiring rear wall.
A plug-in coupling according to the preamble of
A printed circuit board is also known from EP 0 195 955 A1, which is interspersed with contact pins arranged in a grid. The printed circuit board represents the wiring back wall of a subrack, in the electrical assemblies provided with socket strips from the front and inserted into the contact pins protruding from the inside. Cable plugs connected to lead wires are pushed onto the part of the contact pins protruding from the rear of the rack.
The invention has for its object to provide a miniature construction plug connector for a usable in a subrack as a wiring backplane, which on the one hand allows a connection with a coaxial cable and on the other hand connections with two contact elements of the socket strip of a conventional assembly. This object is achieved by the constructive measures specified in the characterizing part of
Through the use of the plug-in coupling and the large-area design of the metal surface of the wiring rear wall, the extensive and extensive shielding measures required to ensure the electromagnetic compatibility during the transmission of HF signals are eliminated. Further advantages of the solution are mentioned in the description.

It consists of an essentially sleeve-
The
Coaxial contacts of the described design form the interface from the unshielded multi-pole plug technology to a coaxial cable plug system, which allows a high packing density. Therefore, the two
The
In diesem Abschnitt 17 ist ein röhrchenförmiger, seitlich mit einem Halteteil 18 versehener Koaxialkontakt 19 durch Umspritzen mit Isoliermaterial 20 befestigt.3 to 5, the plug part of the miniature plug-in coupling is designated by 15. It consists of a sleeve-
When connecting a coaxial cable (not shown), the inner conductor is soldered into the
The
The miniature plug-in coupling can be manufactured with extremely small dimensions. For example, the diameter of the
