Definitions
- a lifting device such as a hoist, overhead crane or crane for example.
- devices are already known for suspending a load from a lifting device comprising a cylinder-piston assembly of which each of the parts, the cylinder and the piston, are provided with hooking means making it possible to hang them. one to the lifting device and the other to the load, and further comprising a means of communication with adjustable throttling between the two ends of the cylinder so that under the effect of the load, an incompressible fluid occupying the cylinder flows through the throttle with a regulated flow rate, thus regulating a displacement at constant speed of the piston in the cylinder.
- these devices aim to ensure the displacement of the load with a set speed, slow and regular, which can be canceled in a precise manner at moment when the load comes into contact with the base on which it must rest.
- the object of the present invention is to remedy this shortcoming. It follows from the observation that one of the shortcomings of the known devices was the difficulty there was in ensuring the tightness of the piston in the cylinder, throughout the long-term use of these devices which are subjected to service to shocks and brutal stresses.
- the device according to the invention is characterized in that the piston comprises a piston disc integral with two coaxial rod segments and in that the cylinder has two end flanges each provided with a guide opening, each piston rod passing through one of these openings so as to produce a sealed guide ensuring a perfectly coaxial relative movement between the cylinder and the piston.
- Fig. 2 shows the main elements constituting a form of the object of the invention.
- the device consists of a cylinder 1 in which slides a piston 3 guided by bores provided in the flanges 18 and 19 which form the ends of the cylinder.
- the cylinder 1 comprises, in addition to the flanges 18 and 19, a ferrule 29 forming its side wall.
- the piston 3 itself comprises, in one piece, a piston disk 2 and two coaxial rod segments 30 and 31 which extend on both sides of the disc 2 and pass through guide openings in the flanges 18 and 19.
- At the upper end of the rod 30 is fixed a hooking ring 20 while a lifting flange 21 is fixed to the flange 19.
- the hooking ring 20 is hooked to the lifting device (hoist or other) while the load to be lifted is fixed to the lifting flange 21.
- the piston disc 2 delimits two chambers, the main chamber 4 and the secondary chamber 5.
- the chambers are connected to each other, on the one hand, by the conduits 6 and 7, between which the device d 'throttle 8 with needle screw closed in the rest position and, on the other hand, by the conduits 11 closed by the valve 10 when the device and under load.
- the cylinder 1 is filled with oil and when the device is under load, that is to say when a tensile force is applied to the flange 21, and when the screw 32 of the device 8 is closed, c that is to say that its tip closes the segment of conduit 33 pierced in the body 34 of the device, the oil in the main chamber is pressurized, which generates a force on the upper surface of the valve 10.
- a pressure gauge 22 (fig. 1) graduated in force units, connected to the orifice 17 will give the weight of the suspended load to the device, the hydraulic pressure being directly proportional to the applied load.
- the return spring 9 When the device is no longer stressed by the load, the return spring 9 will push the cylinder upwards, the valve 10 opening and freeing the passage formed by the holes 11. The secondary chamber will therefore be emptied through this valve and the main chamber will fill with oil. When practically all the oil has thus been transferred to the main chamber, the valve 10 will close under the effect of its return spring 12 which is fixed to the rod 30 by the seat 13 and the elastic ring 14. The suspension device, after closing the needle, is again ready to operate. It should be noted that the device can be used in the inverted position, that is to say that the cylinder, by its lifting flange 21, can be hooked to the lifting machine and the load can be hooked to the attachment ring 20, integral with the rod, the function of the device remaining identical.
- the needle screw device 8 can be replaced by any other means of adjusting the flow (ball adjustment, for example).
- the manually controlled flow adjustment device can be replaced by a remote control adjustment device by means of an electric, pneumatic stepping motor or any other servo means.
- Two threaded ports 15 and 16 one communicating with the main chamber and the other with the secondary chamber, are provided for the installation of such a remote control, this by means of two pipes connected on the one hand, to these orifices and on the other hand, to a needle flow regulation means by example.
- the piston seal is designed to provide a seal at high pressure while having a minimum coefficient of friction against the interior surface of the cylinder.
- it and consists of two elements: an O-ring 23 and an annular seal with rectangular section on PTFE or equivalent 24.
- the sealing principle of this assembly is as follows: The groove constituting the cage of these seals has a width slightly greater than the width of the annular seal; the O-ring is placed at the bottom of this groove and the annular seal is housed so as to cover the O-ring.
- a safety element preventing the load from going down to a high speed when the needle is fully opened, has been provided by means of a reduction in the section of one of the conduits 6 or 7 over a short distance, this constriction (not shown) having the effect of reducing the flow rate passing through the said conduits and consequently limiting the piston-cylinder translation speed.
- a similar section reduction is provided on one or other of the conduits connected to the orifices 15 and 16.
- Fig. 3 shows another embodiment of the suspension device which is the subject of the invention, in which an additional element has been integrated into the device as described above.
- It is a handle 26, integral with a part 27 rigidly coupled to the body 25 of the needle screw device 8.
- the function of this handle is twofold. On the one hand, it allows easier handling, using one hand, of the lifting device and, therefore, easily direct the load suspended from said device.
- the second function of this handle is to open or close the passage of oil from the main chamber 4 to the secondary chamber 5, this in the following manner:
- the valve body 25 of the seat of the needle screw is fixed to the flange 19 so as to allow a partial rotation of said body 25 in its housing.
- a simple and known device such as, for example, a stud screw screwed into the flange 19 and the stud of which would engage in a groove machined in the body 25, makes it possible to obtain this effect.
- a partial rotation of the handle 26 will either block the passage of the oil from the main chamber 4 to the secondary chamber 5, the axes of the channels 11 and 28 no longer being aligned and the channels no longer communicating, either to authorize the passage of the oil from the main chamber 4 to the secondary chamber 5, when the rotation of the handle 26 and, consequently of the body 25 is such, that the axes of the channels 11 and 28 are aligned.
- the oil flow rate can be adjusted beforehand using the device 8 and no longer needs to be imperatively modified in the event of repeated use of the device under similar conditions.
- this device which does not require any external energy input, provides great ease of handling in handling, since it allows them to descend very gently onto its location. .
- This device can be built in different sizes, diameters, strokes and shapes as well as for different load values. Its operation is reliable and it supports the shocks inevitably resulting from its use.
