A device for clamping frames (1) together, comprising a framework (2) to receive the frames (1), means (3) for clamping the horizontal edges of said frames (1) and means (4) for clamping the vertical edges of the frames (1), comprising an arm mounted movably on the top longitudinal member (5) of the framework (2) and provided with means (6) for locking the same in the operative position, characterised in that the means (6) operates by buttressing and comprises two abutments (6′ and 6˝) mounted respectively one (6′) on the surface of the arm (4) facing the frame (1) above the top longitudinal member (5) of the framework (2) and the other (6˝) on the opposite surface of the arm (4) beneath the top longitudinal member (5) of the framework (2), in that the arm (4) forming the means for clamping the vertical edges of the frames (1) is connected to a carriage running on said longitudinal member (5) and having two grooved rollers (7), the sides of which enclose the said longitudinal member (5), the said carriage comprising, on the one hand, a horizontal element (8) connected to the top end of the arm (4) and bearing rollers (7) and, on the other hand, a tie-rod (9) connecting the free end of the element (8) to the arm (4) substantially in its bottom half, and in that the rollers (7) of the carriage are mounted on the horizontal element (8) of the latter with a vertical offset of their axes, the axis of the roller (7) furthest away from the arm (4) being disposed at a higher level on the element (8) than the axis of the roller (7) closest to the arm (4) and the abutments (6′ and 6˝) are disposed on the arm (4) with spacing corresponding to the height of the longitudinal member (5), in the operative position of the arm (4), the roller (7) closest to the arm (4) being slightly lifted from the longitudinal member (5) in said operative position.
2. A device according to claim 1, characterised in that the arm (4) is provided with one or more vertically movable jacks (11) for clamping the vertical edges of the frame (1), the movement of said jacks (11) being provided by means of other vertically movable jacks, or by manual adjustment.
3. A device according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the arm (4) or its carriage is provided with means for controlling its movement in the form of a jack, stoppage of which is controlled by a sensor situated near the jack (10) provided on the free end of the arm (4).
