Description

The invention relates to a film inking unit for rotary printing presses, which has the generic features according to the preamble of claim 1.

A generic film inking unit is known from DE-PS 29 42 734. It has a device for the return transport of paint and paint-water mixture, which consists of a cage-like container with a number of roller elements which are in mutual contact therein, are not rotatably mounted locally and have a circular cross-section. At least one of these role elements
is on one side of the container by the ink fountain roller and at least a second roller element on the other side of the container can be set in rotation by a high-speed subsequent roller. Such a device serves for the continuous return of the ink-water mixture from the inking unit to the ink fountain. However, it cannot be excluded that the roller elements carry ink from the ink fountain roller through the film roller into the inking unit. The roller elements which run loosely in a large number of pieces in the housing represent a considerable outlay, which is also associated with additional noise. In order to minimize the amount of ink introduced into the inking unit from the ink fountain, this known device is neither intended nor suitable.

Eine Minimierung der Gesamtfarbmenge ist mit dieser Ausführung nicht möglich.EP-A-0 064 270 shows an inking unit in which the amount of ink is determined by an anilox roller. This anilox roller can be assigned roles in ink-free zones, which should prevent the ink from emulsifying. A minimization of the total amount of color is not possible with this version.

This inking unit thus belongs to a different genre, but an additional inking roller is known from FIG. 5 of this document, which is arranged next to the rollers that transfer the printing ink and cooperates with a doctor blade. The additional inking roller makes it possible, according to the description in this publication, page 3, left column, fourth paragraph, to combine an ink knife and a doctor blade in such a way that they together form a color reservoir.

To reduce the ink film thickness of a film inking unit, it is known from DE-PS 34 01 886 and from DE-PS 639.293 to assign a doctor blade device to an inking roller of the inking roller train which, based on the direction of rotation of this inking roller, after or before the ink is delivered to the next inking roller attacks on the lateral surface.

The further known DE-A 15 36 409 is not a film inking unit in the sense of the present invention. With this font, the required amount of ink is dosed exclusively by a squeeze roller. A provided scraper is used to clean the squeeze roller.

The object of the invention is to design a device for achieving a sufficiently low coloration with the aim
the further minimization of the adjustable minimum ink quantity in a film inking unit.

The invention solves this problem by training features according to the characterizing part of patent claim 1.

The additional rollers with the associated doctor blade split the ink film picked up by the film roller before the first contact with an ink roller that leads into the inking unit. Due to the continuous, complete doctoring of the ink film delivered by this additional roller, the majority of the ink taken over by the film roller is returned to the inking unit. This results in a constant exchange of the ink in the inking unit. At the same time, no supersaturated emulsion can form in the inking unit, as it may also occur with siphon inking units if, for example, there is no ink consumption on one side and so-called "dead color", that is, supersaturated emulsion, is formed which can no longer be split back. The amount of dampening solution that comes into the ink fountain with the ink corresponds to approximately the same amount as it gets into the ink fountain at lifter inking units. Due to the constant exchange of the paint, however, better mixing takes place, so that the ink-water balance is more stable.

The squeegee roller with the squeegee can be arranged directly above the ink fountain roller. Such an embodiment is particularly advantageous in connection with an ink fountain roller which has a metering device which can be regulated in zones, as described, for example, in DE-PS 34 01 886 in connection with FIG. In this preferred embodiment, the determination of the presetting of the color film is in any case safer than in conventional film inking units, because color is always carried out in each zone. Larger zone openings make it easier for dirt particles to get out of the ink fountain. The exact dosing is considerably facilitated because the adjustment steps per density unit become larger.

Finally, it should be emphasized that due to the nature of the doctor blade arrangement, only the doctor end face is touched by the paint. To wash the inking unit, the squeegee is pivoted into an approximately vertical position, so that the ink adhering to the squeegee drips apart from a small amount. A further cleaning is not necessary because the squeegee edge grinds clean immediately after swiveling back.

Another advantage to be emphasized of the new arrangement is that the machine is no longer contaminated by drops of paint-water.

is a schematic plan view of the doctor device for the intermediate roller.

The ink fountain roller 2 arranged in the ink fountain 1 is equipped with a metering device which can be regulated in zones, as is known per se and consequently was not shown in more detail in the drawing. This relatively slowly rotating ink fountain roller 2 together with the film roller 3, which rotates much faster, for example with the peripheral speed of the plate cylinder, together forms the film gap 4 of predetermined width. A part of the ink film taken up by the film roller 3 is carried into the inking unit via the inking unit roller 5 and further inking unit rollers and finally transferred from the application roller 6 to the plate cylinder 7, through which the blanket cylinder 8 is inked. Before the first contact with the ink roller 5, which feeds the ink into the inking unit, the film roller 3 comes into contact with the additionally arranged intermediate roller 9, which interacts with a doctor roller 10, which preferably has a hard outer surface, and with a doctor blade 11 resting thereon.

According to the representation in FIG. 2, the doctor blade 11 can be adjusted against the doctor roller 10. The example shows the attachment of the squeegee 11 to a carrier 13 which is supported at both ends in arms 15 and 16 which can be pivoted on the housing 14 and which can be pivoted about the bearing axis 18 by means of a piston-cylinder unit 17 for turning the squeegee 11 on and off . Depending on the subject, starting and stopping can be done at any, but possibly also at pre-programmed intervals, by means of a corresponding drive control of an actuator, for example in order to be able to regulate the range between a minimum and a maximum ink supply to the inking unit more variably or to achieve a cleaning effect if necessary.

In the direction of rotation of the film roller, the ink film picked up by the film roller 3 first comes into contact with the intermediate roller 9 before the ink film comes into contact with the inking roller 5, which feeds the ink into the inking unit. As a result, the major part (approximately 3/4 of the color) of the ink film taken up by the film roller is taken over and delivered to the doctor roller 10, which is constantly completely doctored by the doctor blade 11. In terms of design, the arrangement is chosen so that the doctored paint returns to the ink fountain, as can be seen from the drawing. In free fall, the doctored paint falls back into the paint box or, if necessary, is returned to the paint box.

In a further embodiment of the invention it is provided that the entire device from the intermediate roller 9, the doctor roller 10 and the doctor 11 across The axis of rotation of the film roller can be pivoted and is thus arranged so that it can be switched off or set as a whole in order to achieve the effect already explained above in another way.

The doctor roller 10 can optionally be equipped with a device for heating and also axially displaceably mounted for the purpose of the invention, the roller 10 possibly being moved axially only during washing.
