Description

The invention which is located in the technical field of gas tight boilers, in particular wall-hung boilers, relates to a particular arrangement of the air distribution box and of the exhaust fan of the burnt gases which is orientable upwards or rear of the device, as well as a pressostatic safety system associated with it.

It is known that in gas appliances with a sealed combustion chamber of the forced draft type by an electric exhaust fan, the arrival of combustion air and the evacuation of combustion products very often take place at the using two concentric or coaxial conduits. The inner duct which has a precisely smaller diameter than the outer duct is used for the evacuation of the hot gases constituting the products of the combustion of the gas, the air necessary for combustion circulating in opposite directions in the space between the hot interior duct and cold exterior duct.

This arrangement is advantageous because it makes it possible to connect the device to a micro-suction cup outside the wall of the housing by drilling in the latter only a simple round hole of small diameter. In addition, the microvalve also with a coaxial structure is simpler to manufacture and has a minimum size. This provision is valid if the output and the input are coaxial. In this case, the fresh air arrives in a distribution chamber provided in the device, located just at the entrance of the concentric tube.

According to an arrangement known from FR A 2 452 059 the exhaust fan is mounted on the vertical wall of a hood having an L-shaped profile, the vertical exhaust chimney of which is placed above a collecting chamber burnt gases. The fan drive motor is therefore with a horizontal axis; the ventila teur covers an orifice provided on the chimney and its outlet pipe oriented upwards passes through an air distributor box which closes the upper surface of the appliance, to be fitted in the external duct leading to the micro-suction cup. The fan is thus housed in the hollow space between the top of the collecting chamber, the chimney and the air distributor.

The evacuation of the burnt gases and the intake of fresh air are thus carried out at the upper part of the appliance, and even if at this level an adjustable elbow is placed for connection to a wall micro-suction cup, it must necessarily be at least slightly above the device. Given the fact that in a room a wall-mounted boiler must be fixed at a certain height, the arrangement of the room and the building does not always allow the hole in the wall to be made a little higher.

The invention overcomes this disadvantage in that it offers the possibility of connecting the device to the outside in a known manner by its upper part, but also in a new way by its rear part at the level of the hood. , and this because the exhaust fan and its exhaust duct can be oriented on the chimney to which the fan is fixed. This arrangement rendering the usual upper air distributor inoperative, it is eliminated, the air distribution function being provided by the whole of the upper part of the boiler where the extractor and the pressure taps are located and therefore a complementary pressostatic safety device able to act in one or other of the positions of the extractor is provided inside the boiler.

To this end, a main object of the invention consists of a gas-tight boiler comprising a hood for evacuating burnt gases on the vertical chimney of which is fitted a fan ensuring the extraction of these gases in a duct which exits through a hole provided at the top of the device and inside a duct of larger diameter, the annular space between the two ducts serving for the admission of fresh air into the sealed enclosure, boiler according to which the upper zone of the apparatus at the level of the hood is provided with another orifice at the rear of the appliance, of the same dimension as the upper orifice, the extractor fan being mounted in an adjustable manner on the vertical chimney of the hood so that its duct can lead into the upper orifice rear opening, a plug being adapted to close one or the other of these two unused openings and an additional pressostatic safety device being mounted and fixed or tared fixedly in the upper zone to act whatever the position of the flue gas exhaust duct.

According to a particular characteristic of the invention, a horizontal plate bordering the base of the hood on the front face and the sides of the apparatus separates the zone of the hood from the zone of the exchanger and is provided with orifices, the two lateral parts of the plate each being provided with a single hole and the front part with at least two holes of different dimensions and irregularly arranged, or a slot.

According to another characteristic of the invention, a central part of the plug cooperates, when said plug is in the closed position of one of the orifices, with a conduit leading to the high-pressure chamber of a pressure switch, a sealing disc adhesive being provided on the plug to the right of the opening of one of the conduits which it closes when the plug is correctly placed. Advantageously, on the conduit coming from the rear orifice, the other conduit coming from the upper orifice opens, a pressure tap being closed by the plug when the other pressure tap is open and vice versa.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which follows of an embodiment with reference to the appended drawings which schematically represent in Figures 1 to 3 a boiler respectively in front, side, and top view , Figure 4 being an enlarged schematic view of the upper part of the apparatus according to Figure 2.

The boiler shown in the figures essentially comprises three superimposed zones A, B and C. The upper zone A extends from the upper part of the appliance to the base of the hood 1 for discharging the burnt gases. The intermediate zone B includes the fin block 2 of the heating body 3 and the burner ramp 4 with its pilot light 5 and its safety thermocouple 6. The lower zone C below the burner contains the gas intake mechanisms, the safety and control mechanisms, the circulation pump, and all other elements known per se and therefore not shown. Zones A and B form an enclosure airtight to the outside air. A lower plate 7 which forms a separation between zones B and C is therefore crossed in a sealed manner by the supply and connection conduits to the burner 4, to the pilot 5 and to the thermocouple 6. The front cover 8 returning to the side seals on the side panels of the device, on the plate 7 and on an upper plate 9 forming the cover of the upper zone A. The front cover 8 is also supported on a horizontal plate 10 which borders the base of the boot 1 on the front face and on its sides, said plate being provided with orifices 11, allowing air to pass from zone A to zone B. It can be seen in FIG. 3 that the lateral parts of the plate 10 are each provided with an oblong hole 11 substantially in the middle while on the front part, two oblong holes 11a of different dimensions are arranged close to each other on the side of the exhaust fan 14, it i.e. at the level of the area outside the ento boot urant ventilation, and a smaller round hole 11b is disposed on the other side.

According to variants not shown, one or more slots can replace the holes to modify the air distribution.

Les prises de pression 26 et 27 sont positionnées à la même distance du bord des orifices 19 et 17.The hood 1 has an L-shaped profile, the lower rectangular part of which covers the fin block 2 and forms a collecting chamber for the burnt gases which escape through a vertical exhaust chimney 12 towards an orifice 13 provided on a side wall of this fireplace. On said orifice is fixed by several easily accessible screws an exhaust fan 14 with its drive motor 15 with a horizontal axis. The burnt gases are extracted by a conduit 16 which passes through a larger diameter orifice 17 provided in the upper plate 9. On the orifice 17 is mounted a fresh air intake conduit 18 coaxial with the conduit 16 which allows the connection of the device to a not shown microvalve provided in the neighboring wall above the device. The rear wall of zone A, forming the bottom, behind the hood 1, is also provided with an orifice 19 of the same diameter as the upper orifice 17 which in the illustrated case is closed by a plug 20 as this can be seen more clearly in the schematic drawing in FIG. 4. This plug 20 is a stopper cover which closes the unused rear hole 19 and which consists of an annular part 21 for fixing around the periphery of the orifice 19 and a counter-stamped central part 22, a seal, not shown, being inserted between the plug and the bottom of the boiler. A self-adhesive sealing pad 23 is provided on the countersunk 22. On this pad is supported the open end 26 of a small conduit 24 leading to the high-pressure chamber of a pressure switch not shown. Note that closing the plug 20 automatically closes the opening 26 of the conduit 24, and that no mounting of the plug on the opening 19 is possible if the chip 23 is not in the correct position. opposite the opening 26 of the duct 24, located in the area of the fresh air intake duct 18. On this duct 24 opens another duct 25 also coming from an opening 27 forming a pressure tap located at the edge of the opening 17 in the area of the fresh air intake duct 18. The pressure taps 26 and 27 are positioned at the same distance from the edge of the orifices 19 and 17.

In the case shown in the figures the device is connected to the upper outlet, that is to say that the exhaust fan 14 is fixed to the hood 1 so that its duct 16 for the outlet of the burnt gases opens into the 'upper opening 17, where it is capped, as we have seen, by a fresh air intake duct 18. The rear outlet 19 is then closed by the plug 20, the patch 23 of which closes the opening 26 of the conduit 24. Consequently only the pressure tap 27 is connected to the pressure switch, and detects the air intake pressure in the zone A of the device. Relative to the static value of the pressure taken at another point (not shown) of the sealed chamber, the pressure switch makes it possible to obtain a pressostatic detection proportional to the speed of flow of fresh air through the upper opening 17 and consequently its flow. The air thus admitted into the zone A through the conduit 18, fills the surrounding volume in the hood 1 then enters the zone B around the heating body 3, through the orifices 11. The latter have the function of reducing the passage of the air from A to B and introduce a pressure drop at the same time as distributing the flow over the periphery of the heating body.

In the event of incorrect mounting of the plug 20, because the fixing screws are not tightened properly or the plug or its seal is incorrectly positioned, the value detected at the pressure switch becomes very low since there is a leak through the exposed orifice of the duct 24, and the device cannot operate.

When you want to connect the device to the rear outlet, simply unscrew the exhaust fan 14 from the vertical chimney 12 to which it is fixed, then rotate it so that the conduit 16 for evacuating the burnt gases is placed in a horizontal position towards the center of the rear opening 19. The plug 20 has previously been removed from this opening and fixed on the upper opening 17, in the same way, so that the sealing pad 23 comes to close the socket pressure 27. In this case, the pressure tap 26 is then opened and communicates the conduit 24 with the pressure switch.

The admission of fresh air is then done coaxially to the outlet duct 16 by an external duct connected to the neighboring microwell. The wall of the chimney 12 on which the extraction fan is fixed is, as seen in Figures 1 and 3, inclined a few degrees relative to a vertical plane parallel to the side walls of the device. This feature makes it possible to have the rear orifice 19 off-center relative to the central plane of the boiler.

So whatever the way you want to connect the device at the top or at the back, there is a fixed pressostatic safety device adaptable without change to the two air supply positions and a suitable plug which attaches to either of the possible outlet openings. In addition, the additional separation introduced between zone A and zone B, which is provided with judiciously arranged air passage orifices, avoids the use of an air distributor box which considerably simplifies the construction of the apparatus. .
