Abstract

A reclining seat support (3) and a backrest support (4) are hinged on a chair frame with a support part (1) via a lever (7) by means of hinges (5, 8). Coupled to the backrest-side end of the seat support (3) is a link chain (15) which is connected at its other end to a slide (20) and a backrest (21). The link chain (15) causes the slide (20) to be moved downwards with the backrest when the chair is reclined. By this means, the pulling-out effect during the transition from the normal position into the reclined position of the lever is eliminated. However, if the chair frame is used as a chair without a link chain (15), although slightly less seating comfort is achieved by the reclining seat support, the expenditure is correspondingly less. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a chair frame with a support part designed as a base frame, a cantilevered support arm and a seat support articulated at the knee-side end with the support arm and at the back-side end with a backrest support, the backrest support operatively connected to a spring element supported on the support arm on the knee side is articulated to the end facing the support arm and can be tilted backwards together with the seat support.

From US-A 2 321 385 a chair frame for a chair is known which essentially comprises a base frame designed as a supporting part, a supporting arm arranged on the supporting part projecting and a seat support and backrest support, the seat support in the knee-side area via a first tab on the support arm and is supported in the area on the backrest side by means of a second bracket on the backrest support and is articulated in such a way that the seat and the backrest support can be tilted backwards against the restoring force of a spring element arranged on the support arm and backrest support.

In order to avoid the so-called pull-out effect, it is known from the PCT application (WO 83/00610) on the backrest support to arrange a height-adjustable backrest, which is moved correspondingly downward during the backward movement of the seat and backrest support. The backrest is moved by an additional linkage and is dependent on the backward movement.

The invention is based on the object of designing and improving a chair frame of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that optimum seating comfort is achieved with the simplest possible constructional means while maintaining a small space requirement for the adjustment mechanism.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the characterizing features of claim 1.

The invention also includes chair frames according to independent claims 2, 3 and 4, further features of the invention being apparent from the following description in conjunction with the drawing.

The invention is described below with reference to the drawing. It shows:
Fig. 1
a schematically represented chair frame with seat and backrest support which can be tilted backwards,
Fig. 2
a first variant of the chair frame according to Fig.1,
Fig. 3
a second variant of the chair frame according to Fig.1, and
Fig. 4
a third variant of the chair frame according to Fig.1.

The chair frame shown in Figure 1 for a chair is supported on a support arm 1 of a support member 2, wherein the support member 2 is usually part of a mostly mobile, not shown foot frame.

On the support arm 1, a seat support 3 and a backrest support 4 are mounted. The seat support 3 is pivotally mounted on a joint 5 provided on the knee-side end of the support arm 1 and the backrest support 4 at a distance from it on a bracket 10 articulated with a joint 8 on the support arm 1. The bracket 10 mounted on the support arm 1 with the first joint 8 has a second joint 8 ′ arranged at a distance from the first joint 8 and a third joint 6 arranged in between, on which the backrest support 4 is mounted. The tab 10 is essentially divided by the third joint 6 into a first lever 7 and a second lever 7 '. One end of a spring member 11 is supported on the second joint 8 'of the second lever 7', while the other end of the spring member 11 is articulated on the knee joint 5 of the seat support 3 or is supported on the support arm 1 in the vicinity of the joint 5.

At this point, it is pointed out that the joints described above and below are designed as joint points with a horizontal axis of rotation, which is no longer mentioned in the following description.

The seat support 3 and the backrest support 4 are further articulated to one another with a joint 9 on the backrest side connected. The backrest support 4 protrudes with an extension 12 Ver over the backrest-side joint 9 also. At the free end of the extension 12, a link chain 15 is coupled with a joint 16. The link chain 15 has three links 17, 18 and 19 which are connected to one another in an articulated manner, one link 19 being connected at its free end to a slide 20. The slider 20 is guided on the backrest support 4 and carries a backrest 21, shown schematically by the broken line.

When the chair is tilted back, the seat support 3 moves around the knee joint 5 in the direction of arrow a (FIG. 1) and the backrest support 4 around the backrest joint 9 in the direction of arrow A (FIG. 1), the inclination of the backrest support 4 being greater than that of the seat support 3. The relative movement between the two supports 3 and 4 adjusts the link chain 15 in such a way that the slider 20 moves downward with the backrest 21. This is achieved in that the middle link 18 is pivotally mounted on the backrest support 4 by means of a joint 22. The link 18 thus forms a two-armed lever, by means of which the inclination of the link 18 is reduced when the backrest support 4 is tilted back and thus causes the slide 20 to move downward. The link 19 only serves to prevent the slide 20 from jamming on its guide.

In the chair frame according to FIG. 1, the tab 10 divided into two levers 7 and 7 'connects the backrest support 4 to the support arm 1. The lever 7' formed between the first joint 8 and the third joint 6 ensures the parts 3 and 4 a jam-free sequence of movements. The effect of the spring member 11 is also increased by the tab 10, which translates the movement of the backrest support. From Fig.1 is the space-saving and simple solution of the displacement of the slider 20 with the backrest 21 can be seen. The space below the seat support 3 can be used for the arrangement of other functional parts.

Weiterhin sind bei diesen Ausführungsbeispielen zusätzliche Federelemente oder Gestänge vorgesehen, welche nachstehend noch im einzelnen beschrieben werden.FIGS. 2 to 4 each show the chair frame without the link chain 15 and the slider 20. However, the arrangement of these parts is also easily possible with these variants. Furthermore, additional spring elements or linkages are provided in these exemplary embodiments, which will be described in detail below.

In the chair frame according to FIG. 2, the same parts as in FIG. 1 are provided with the same reference symbols. The seat support 3 mounted on the knee joint 5 is connected to the backrest support 4 by means of a tab 25 on the backrest side. The tab 25 is mounted with the joint 9 on the seat support 3 and with a joint 13 on the backrest support 4. The backrest support 4 is supported with the knee-side end on the joint 8 and is provided with a molded part 23 directed upwards from the joint 8, on the free end of which the spring member 11 is supported. Furthermore, a tension spring 26 can be seen, which is attached at one end to the backrest support 4 and at the other end to the support arm 1. If further spring elements are required, it is possible to arrange them on the knee joint 5 of the seat support 3 and on the joint 8 of the support arm 1.

In the illustrated embodiments of the chair or the chair frame, the spring elements always have the task of moving the chair frame into its normal or working position when it is relieved. It is desirable to be able to actuate the spring member 11 arranged in the knee area, which is, for example, a gas pressure spring, in order to be able to do so To block the chair frame in a certain position, for example in the backward inclined position. Here, the actuation can be made easily accessible due to the arrangement of the spring member 11.

In the chair frame according to FIG. 3, one end of the spring member 11 is supported on a first pair of tabs 30 and 31, of which one tab 30 on the backrest-side joint 9 of the two supports 3 and 4 and the other plate 31 on a joint 8 '' are supported. The joint 8 ″ is arranged at a distance from the joint 8 on the support arm 1. The spring travel of the spring member 11 can be varied with the pair of tabs 30, 31. In addition, a tension spring 27 is also provided, which is fastened to the second joint 8 ′ and to the support arm 1.

In the chair frame according to FIG. 4, the two parts 3 and 4 are connected to one another on the backrest side via the tab 25 arranged on the joints 9 and 13 and are pivotably mounted on the support arm 1 by the joints 5 and 8. To support the spring member 11, a second pair of plates 32, 33 is provided, of which one plate 32 is mounted on the joint 9 of the seat support 3 on the backrest and the other plate 33 on the first joint 8 of the support arm 1.
