  • a detergent composition of this type is described in European Patent Specification EP-A-213730 (Unilever) according to which the composition contains both a fabric softening agent and a water-soluble nonionic cellulose ether of a selected class, defined in terms of HLB, gel point and the nature of the substituents on the cellulose ether.
  • the described compositions may be prepared by including the cellulose ether in a slurry with other ingredients and then spray-drying or it may simply be dry-mixed with other ingredients. While successful results can be obtained with these methods of incorporation we have now surprisingly discovered that better fabric softening results can be obtained if the cellulose ether is added in the form of a particulate additive which also contains the fabric softening agent.
  • US Patent Serial No 3 920 561 describes a rinse conditioner containing a highly substituted methyl cellulose ether. Good soil release benefits are claimed when the composition is used in the absence of deterging amounts of anionic detergent.

Claims (8)

  1. Teilchenförmiger Wäscheweichmacherzusatz für Reinigungsmittel, enthaltend als die einzige oder Hauptkomponente eine innige Mischung eines wasserlöslichen nichtionischen Celluloseethers und eines organischen wäscheweichmachenden Mittels in dem Gewichtsverhältnis von 1 : 1 bis 0,06 : 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Celluloseether eine Ethylhydroxyethylcellulose mit einem HLB-Wert von zwischen 3,3 und 3,8 und einem Gelpunkt von zwischen 33°C und 56°C ist.
  2. Weichmacherzusatz nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Celluloseether einen Substitutionsgrad von 1,9 bis 2,9 Substituenten pro Anhydroglucose-ring aufweist.
  3. Weichmacherzusatz nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Celluloseether einen Polymerisationsgrad (Gewichtsmittel) von 50 bis 1200 aufweist.
  4. Weichmacherzusatz nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Celluloseether von 0,9 bis 2,0 Ethylgruppen und von 0,1 bis 2,0 Hydroxyethylgruppen pro Anhydroglucosering aufweist.
  5. Weichmacherzusatz nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das wäscheweichmachende Mittel aus quaternären Ammoniumverbindungen, Imidazolinium-Derivaten, Fettaminen, Seifen, organo-modifizierten Tonen und Mischungen daraus, ausgewählt ist.
  6. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Weichmacherzusatzes nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es die Stufen von
    (i) Schmelzen des wäscheweichmachenden Mittels und Dispergieren des Celluloseethers darin zur Bildung einer flüssigen Mischung, und
    (ii) Kühlen der flüssigen Mischung zu einer festen Mischung,
    umfaßt.
  7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ferner die Stufe des Mahlens und Siebens der festen Mischung bis zu einer Teilchengröße von 50 bis 1000 Mikron umfaßt.
  8. Gewebebehandlungszusammensetzung, enthaltend:
    (i) von 2 bis 50 Gewichtsprozent eines nichtseifigen anionischen reinigungsaktiven Materials oder einer Mischung davon mit anderen nichtseifigen reinigungsaktiven Materialien; und
    (ii) von 1,0 bis 53 Gewichtsprozent des teilchenförmigen Wäscheweichmacherzusatzes nach Anspruch 1.
