Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for admixing a foam or wetting agent in a pressurized water line for producing a water-foam agent mixture for fire-fighting purposes, the extinguishing water being supplied via a suction jet pump having a propellant and a trap nozzle, which sucks in the foam agent or wetting agent and to the water.
- the invention further relates to a device for producing a water-foam agent mixture for fire-fighting purposes, in which a mixer is installed in an extinguishing water line behind an extinguishing water pump, which has a driving nozzle and a trap nozzle arranged behind it with a downstream diffuser, the foam or wetting agent Supply across the fire water pipe is provided in the area between the propellant and catch nozzles.
- Extinguishing foam is particularly suitable as an extinguishing agent for flammable liquids, since the specifically lighter foam blanket floats on the surface.
- the consistency, the stability and the flowability and adherence of the foam essentially depend on the precisely metered admixture of the foam agent to the water.
- Different admixing techniques are known. In particular has the injector admixer prevailed in the pressure line. These are simple admixing devices that work on the injector principle (jet pump principle).
- a partial water flow is conveyed via a propellant nozzle, which creates negative pressure in a chamber and thus sucks in the foam compound.
- Mixing devices of this type have the disadvantage, however, that they can only supply consumers which are designed for a specific flow at a specific pressure, an appropriately dimensioned and labeled mixer being used for each flow quantity. So consumers (foam pipes or the like) are used, which have a capacity of 200, 400 or 800 liters per minute at about 5 bar operating pressure.
- the known suction jet pumps are designed for a certain pressure and a certain amount. If one of the parameters changes, the pump can no longer work optimally. The output can drop to such an extent that there is no suction force for sucking in the foam compound. The suction power is only available if there is a sufficient pressure difference between the inlet pressure and outlet pressure. Since a separate jet pump admixer must be assigned to each different consumer, no changes in the services to the consumer are possible during an extinguishing process.
- Pump premixers are also known as suction mixers, which are designed in the bypass to the pump as a jet pump. These However, they have the disadvantage that there is always a partial amount circulating in the bypass, which can therefore not be used for deletion.
- the pump can only be operated with a low inlet pressure, which means that hydrant operation is generally not possible.
- the invention has for its object to provide a suction mixer which automatically adapts to the changed conditions within a predetermined range and automatically to the consumer performance at different throughputs and pressures at the consumer.
- This object is achieved in that the cross sections of the propellant and the trap nozzle are changed according to a certain flow rate of water-foam mixture by comparing the inlet and outlet pressures during the admixture.
- the change in the cross sections of the propellant and the trap nozzle can be adjusted automatically by means of a differential piston, the differential piston being dimensioned for a specific pressure loss of the suction jet pump.
- a device for carrying out the method according to the invention can be seen in the fact that the driving and catching nozzles each have a displaceable or rotatable wall part which are connected to a differential piston by means of a linkage or the like, the larger piston area being associated with the pressure of the water Foam mixture and the smaller piston area is pressurized with the pressure of the extinguishing water.
- the cross section of the driving nozzle is automatically changed so that the conditions for sucking in the foaming agent remain constant. It is advantageous if the driving nozzle and the catching nozzle are changed synchronously.
- the admixture causes a pressure loss in the extinguishing water. If the differential piston is dimensioned in accordance with this pressure loss, the system according to the invention can adjust itself automatically to this pressure loss and thus ensure that the foaming agent is sucked in at all times.
- Such suction jet pumps have a pressure loss of about 30 to 35%.
- the differential piston is expediently dimensioned such that the pressure loss occurring as a result of the admixture is fixed at 30 or 35%. If, in addition, a venturi tube is connected upstream of the admixer and the cross-section of the foam agent inlet opening is regulated by means of its differential pressure, an admixer is thus created which can be used in a performance range of e.g. 1: 4 automatically keeps the admixture constant.
- the admixer according to the invention can be used in particular for use on fire-fighting vehicles or in the stationary area.
- a simple and inexpensive admixing system can be implemented on vehicles in combination with a self-priming launcher tube.
- Any number of foam nozzles can be used in the stationary area, taking into account the working area be supplied, whereby the operating pressure of the consumer can deviate from the usual pressure.
- a proportioner 3 is switched on between an extinguishing water line 1 with a fire pump (not shown) and a consumer line 2, for example a foam pipe.
- a housing 4 there is a driving nozzle 5 with a cross section 64 and a trap nozzle 6 with a cross section 65, to which a diffuser 7 is connected.
- a nozzle 34 is provided transversely to the flow direction of the extinguishing water, to which the foam agent supply line 8 connects with a check valve 9 and a metering valve 10.
- the admixer 3 is assigned a differential piston 11, which is formed from a housing 12 with a stepped piston 13, whereby a larger piston surface 14 and a smaller piston surface 15 are formed.
- the two nozzles 5 and 6 are each equipped with an adjustable wall 19 and 20, which are moved up and down by the piston 13 via a mechanism, in the exemplary embodiment, for example, a linkage 17 and 18 and a piston rod 16.
- a mechanism in the exemplary embodiment, for example, a linkage 17 and 18 and a piston rod 16.
- a pressure line 22 is connected to the piston space assigned to the piston surface 14 and a pressure line 21 is connected to the piston space assigned to the piston surface 15.
- the larger piston chamber is pressurized with the pressure p2 of the water-foam mixture and the smaller piston chamber with the pressure p1 of the extinguishing water.
- the amount of extinguishing water is labeled Q1 and the amount of foam compound Q3.
- the quantity Q2 pending at the consumer is equal to Q1 plus Q3.
- the cross sections 64 and 65 are adjusted so that the suction jet pump remains in an absorbent state.
- the cross-section 65 is synchronized with the cross-section 64, so that this ensures proportionality. As explained above, the change in the cross sections 64 and 65 results from the fact that the wall parts 20 and 19 which change the cross sections are lowered into the dot-dash position or raised therefrom.
- the admixer 3 is additionally combined with a venturi tube 23 placed in front of the driving nozzle 5 and a flow-dependent metering device 25.
- the differential pressure (p4 - p5) generated by the Venturi tube is proportional (Q1).
- the metering device 25 consists of a piston 26 in a housing 27 and a slide 32, with which a foam agent inlet opening 35 in the foam agent inlet nozzle 34 can be changed.
- a pressure line 28 is led into the piston chamber 30 and, starting from the retraction 24 of the Venturi 23, a pressure line 29 is led to the piston chamber 31.
- the piston 26 is thus acted upon on the one hand by the pressure of the extinguishing water p4 and on the other hand by the pressure in the venturi 24.
- the slide 32 is displaced by means of the piston rod 33, so that the opening 35 changes.
- Fig. 4 shows a further embodiment of the invention.
- a plurality of suction jet pumps 36 to 38 which show driving nozzles 39 to 41 and catching nozzles 42 to 44, are connected between the extinguishing water line 1 and the consumer line 2.
- Each driving nozzle is assigned an extinguishing water supply line 45 to 47 with shut-off valves 48 to 50, and foam agent supply lines 51 to 53 with shut-off valves 54 to 56.
- a controller 57 connected to the differential piston 11 changes the amount of extinguishing water by means of control lines 58 to 63 by switching individual suction jet pump elements on or off.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for admixing a foam or wetting agent in a pressurized water line for producing a water-foam agent mixture for fire-fighting purposes, the extinguishing water being supplied via a suction jet pump having a propellant and a trap nozzle, which sucks in the foam agent or wetting agent and to the water. The invention further relates to a device for producing a water-foam agent mixture for fire-fighting purposes, in which a mixer is installed in an extinguishing water line behind an extinguishing water pump, which has a driving nozzle and a trap nozzle arranged behind it with a downstream diffuser, the foam or wetting agent Supply across the fire water pipe is provided in the area between the propellant and catch nozzles.
Methods or devices for mixing a foam or wetting agent into a fire-fighting water are used to use a fire-fighting foam. Extinguishing foam is particularly suitable as an extinguishing agent for flammable liquids, since the specifically lighter foam blanket floats on the surface. The consistency, the stability and the flowability and adherence of the foam essentially depend on the precisely metered admixture of the foam agent to the water. Different admixing techniques are known. In particular has the injector admixer prevailed in the pressure line. These are simple admixing devices that work on the injector principle (jet pump principle). A partial water flow is conveyed via a propellant nozzle, which creates negative pressure in a chamber and thus sucks in the foam compound. Mixing devices of this type have the disadvantage, however, that they can only supply consumers which are designed for a specific flow at a specific pressure, an appropriately dimensioned and labeled mixer being used for each flow quantity. So consumers (foam pipes or the like) are used, which have a capacity of 200, 400 or 800 liters per minute at about 5 bar operating pressure.
The known suction jet pumps are designed for a certain pressure and a certain amount.
Pump premixers are also known as suction mixers, which are designed in the bypass to the pump as a jet pump. These However, they have the disadvantage that there is always a partial amount circulating in the bypass, which can therefore not be used for deletion. The pump can only be operated with a low inlet pressure, which means that hydrant operation is generally not possible.
The invention has for its object to provide a suction mixer which automatically adapts to the changed conditions within a predetermined range and automatically to the consumer performance at different throughputs and pressures at the consumer.
This object is achieved in that the cross sections of the propellant and the trap nozzle are changed according to a certain flow rate of water-foam mixture by comparing the inlet and outlet pressures during the admixture. The change in the cross sections of the propellant and the trap nozzle can be adjusted automatically by means of a differential piston, the differential piston being dimensioned for a specific pressure loss of the suction jet pump.
A device for carrying out the method according to the invention can be seen in the fact that the driving and catching nozzles each have a displaceable or rotatable wall part which are connected to a differential piston by means of a linkage or the like, the larger piston area being associated with the pressure of the water Foam mixture and the smaller piston area is pressurized with the pressure of the extinguishing water.
If the quantity or the pressure at the consumer changes, the cross section of the driving nozzle is automatically changed so that the conditions for sucking in the foaming agent remain constant. It is advantageous if the driving nozzle and the catching nozzle are changed synchronously. The admixture causes a pressure loss in the extinguishing water. If the differential piston is dimensioned in accordance with this pressure loss, the system according to the invention can adjust itself automatically to this pressure loss and thus ensure that the foaming agent is sucked in at all times.
Such suction jet pumps have a pressure loss of about 30 to 35%. The differential piston is expediently dimensioned such that the pressure loss occurring as a result of the admixture is fixed at 30 or 35%. If, in addition, a venturi tube is connected upstream of the admixer and the cross-section of the foam agent inlet opening is regulated by means of its differential pressure, an admixer is thus created which can be used in a performance range of e.g. 1: 4 automatically keeps the admixture constant.
The admixer according to the invention can be used in particular for use on fire-fighting vehicles or in the stationary area. A simple and inexpensive admixing system can be implemented on vehicles in combination with a self-priming launcher tube. Any number of foam nozzles can be used in the stationary area, taking into account the working area be supplied, whereby the operating pressure of the consumer can deviate from the usual pressure.
- Fig. 1 einen Querschnitt durch einen Zumischer,
- Fig. 2 einen Schnitt gemäß Linie A - B in Fig. 1,

- Fig. 4 shows a further embodiment of the invention with a bundle of suction jet pumps.
A proportioner 3 is switched on between an
The jet pump consisting of parts 4 to 7 can, for example, be designed for a pressure ratio p1: p2 equal to 3: 2. If the ratio of the piston areas 15:14 is also 2: 3, then the reaction force is p1 x 15 minus p2 x 14 = 0. If p2 changes due to a change in the consumer, the
The
According to FIG. 3, the admixer 3 according to the invention is additionally combined with a
Fig. 4 zeigt eine weitere Ausgestaltung der Erfindung. Fig. 4 shows a further embodiment of the invention. As In this case, a plurality of suction jet pumps 36 to 38, which show driving
Since each subset Q1 n is assigned a subset (foaming agent) Q3 n, the mixed admixture ratio Q3: Q1 also results.
