Definitions

  • the invention relates to a CD player in which, after inserting a CD, the table of contents is read and partially or completely stored in a memory.
  • Each CD contains a table of contents in which data is stored, which provides information about the number of program blocks stored on the disc, their start times and the total playing time of the disc.
  • the individual program blocks are usually pieces of music, but it can also be spoken text or various background sounds for the setting of films or slides. Up to 99 program blocks can be stored on a CD disk, but only 10 to 20 different pieces of music are usually found on a CD disk with music.
  • the table of contents of a CD disk has the data format shown in the figure.
  • the first block AC contains the title of the first piece of music
  • the second block A1 the title of the last piece of music
  • the third block A2 shows the total playing time of the CD.
  • blocks D1 - Dn are the start times of the individual n-pieces of music that are recorded on the CD disk; the blocks A0, A1, A2, D1 - Dn are combined in a group in which the table of contents of the CD disk is once completely stored.
  • the entry track ES is followed by a pause PE, the duration of which is fixed at two to three seconds.
  • the individual program blocks follow the pause PE, for example, as in FIG. 2, four pieces of music B1, B2, B3 and B4.
  • the piece of music B4 the exit track AS follows.
  • the individual program blocks can be separated from one another by pauses, the duration of which is not standardized.
  • FIG. 2 there is a pause P1 between the first program block B1 and the second program block B2 and a pause P2 between the second program block B2 and the third program block B3, while the fourth program block B4 immediately follows the third program block 83.
  • the pause P1 is, for example, greater than the pause P2.
  • each program block is identified by a number by which the CD player recognizes which one.
  • Program block is currently scanning its scanner.
  • each program block is provided with at least one, but at most 99, indices, by which a program block can be divided into up to 99 parts of any length.
  • the indices of a program block run from 01 to 99, but from 00 to 99 if there is a pause between two program blocks. Index 00 is always assigned to a pause.
  • program block B 1 has only one index 01
  • program block B2 is divided by indices 01, 02 and 03 into three parts
  • program block B3 is divided into two parts by indices 01 and 02
  • program block B4 again only has an index 01.
  • the time which shows the playing time of the CD disk is stored in parallel.
  • the time is paid like a countdown aowarts. For this reason, the following four pieces of information are available to the CD player, whose light beam is scanning a point in a program block:
  • the possible division of a program block into up to 99 indices is particularly advantageous for longer musical works or literature works.
  • the CD maker can, for example, identify the solos - piano solos or solos of a particular singer -, the arias, the duets or the choirs using the indices.
  • literature works e.g. Identify monologues or dialogues of certain people using the indices.
  • the invention solves this problem in that, in the case of a partially or completely illegible table of contents, the scanning device of the CD player is moved to the end of the table of contents and the part of the CD disk following the table of contents can be played.
  • the invention is explained on the basis of a first exemplary embodiment. If the CD player determines that the table of contents of an inserted CD is illegible, its optical scanning device is positioned at the end of the table of contents. From here, the CD disk is scanned step by step. The numbers of the individual program blocks, ie the individual pieces of music, are obtained by the step-by-step scanning. Since the playing time is also stored on the CD in parallel to each piece of music, the CD player can win the starting times of all pieces of music and save them in a memory. If, for example, the scanning device in the musical piece No. 2 accidentally falls to the position 20 seconds after the beginning of the musical piece No. 2 during the step-by-step scanning, the CD player can determine the starting time from the playing time T of the musical piece No. 2 by forming the difference T-20s calculate and save the piece of music No. 2. In this way, the start times of all pieces of music are obtained.
  • the CD disk is not first scanned step by step, but playback is started immediately.
  • the numbers of the individual pieces of music and their start times are automatically obtained and saved during playback.
  • the second exemplary embodiment has the advantage that the listener can immediately hear the record without having to wait for the step-by-step scanning as in the first exemplary embodiment.
  • a third exemplary embodiment of the invention provides a choice between step-by-step scanning and immediate playback of the CD disk. If, for example, the listener calls up functions on the CD player for which data are still missing, the missing data is first obtained by step-by-step scanning.
