In der Löffelvertiefung 1 ist ein Gewürz­fänger in Form eines Kammes 6 angebracht. Der Ge­würzfänger kann auch in Form eines Rechens, eines Gitternetzes oder eines Siebes ausgebildet sein, wobei das Sieb mit lochartig runden netzartig oder mit mehreckigen Oeffnungen versehen sein. Der Zweck dieser Vorrichtung besteht nun darin, die Ge­würzteile, die im Teller oder in der Platte störend wirken, beim Ausgiessen einer Sauce aufzufangen, was das lästige Heraussortieren durch den Gast er­übrigt. Der Gewürzfänger kann in jeder Grösse einer Saucenkelle eingebaut, oder neu hinzugegossen wer­den. Der Gewürzfänger kann mit der Saucenkelle in einem Stück gefertigt sei. Er kann aber auch einzeln so gefertigt sein, dass er in den Löffel einer Sau­cenkelle abnehmbar eingelegt werden kann. Der Ge­würzfänger kann zur Ausgussspitze, oder aber gegen die Mitte des Löffels hin verschoben angebracht sein.
