Definitions
- the invention relates to electrical connection terminals for power transmission wires, according to the preamble of the main claim.
- a terminal is known, for example from document US-A-3 848 955.
- the conductive pin has at one end a conventional connector to be connected to a cable, and a tip at the other end. It is surrounded by an insulator which externally carries a thread cooperating with a female thread. When the pin is screwed into the body, the tip enters the conductor.
- terminals comprising a tubular body, one externally threaded end of which has a blind transverse slot, the bottom of which forms a cradle arranged to receive superimposed electrical wires. , through or not.
- a hollow plug fitted internally with a central cylindrical plunger, is screwed onto the threaded end of the tubular body.
- the pusher makes it possible to press and therefore electrically interconnect wires, bare or stripped, stacked in the slot between the bottom of the cradle and itself.
- the electrical connection of the usual wires, the core of which is covered with an insulator formed by one or more layers, involves the removal of these layers from the zone of wire which is to be housed in the terminal.
- the removal of the insulating layers must be carried out with care so as not to cause deterioration of the conductive core, in particular when this core is composed of multiple strands; it is inconvenient to carry out when the connection is to be carried out bypass on a wire which one does not want to break up.
- the exposure of the core of a wire for its connection in a terminal has the further disadvantage of increasing the risks of inadvertent contact of this wire with an apparatus or a nobody, in particular in the event of the wire coming out of the terminal as a result of untimely loosening of the latter.
- the invention aims to provide both the connection between the pin and the stranded conductor and between the pin and a cable to be connected. This object is achieved according to the invention by the terminal as defined by claim 1.
- FIG. 1 shows an example of an electrical connection terminal according to the invention, mounted on electrical wires which it interconnects.
- Figure 2 shows an exploded view of the connection terminal in Figure 1.
- Figures 3 and 4 show two axial longitudinal sections at right angles respectively along III-III and IV-IV of the connection terminal according to the invention.
- Figure 5 shows a cross section along V-V.
- connection terminal presented in FIG. 1 is intended to interconnect two electrical energy transport wires 1, of the multi-strand conductor type 2 under insulator 3, either at the end, either bypass, with or without interruption.
- It comprises a rigid body 4, possibly made of metal but preferably molded from an insulating material, such as a polyamide.
- This terminal body 4 has at least two threaded or tapped tubular ends, here aligned in the axis of the body which is itself tubular in appearance. It is also possible to provide tubular ends obliquely disposed relative to one another or parallel mounted on the same support.
- the terminal body 4 has an annular allowance 5 in its central zone, this allowance allows the immobilization of the body in a complementary hole of a support wall which is not shown, by wedging this wall between the allowance and a nut, not shown, screwed onto the thread of one of the tubular ends.
- a plug 6 is screwed at the end of each tubular end of the body 4.
- the plugs 6 are intended to each trap a wire in the terminal body 4, the tubular ends of which are each provided with a wire passage opening 7 of elongated shape, oriented in the longitudinal axis of the tubular end, in this case along the axis of the tubular body 4.
- the wire passage openings 7 of the tubular ends are here separated by a common bottom wall 8 through which is housed an at least partially conductive pin 9 which projects by a wire perforation point in each passage opening and which is for example fixed by force fitting or by overmolding.
- the pin 9 possibly multi-branch, is bent and projects out of a common wall, through the bottom of the wire passage opening of each of the tubular ends concerned, such arrangements which are easy to conceive are not shown here.
- the wire passage openings which open in the side wall of the tubular ends are possibly blind, in the proposed embodiment they are diametrical and pass right through the tubular ends at the end of which the more they open, each delimiting a slot allowing the insertion of a through wire, either transversely through the open end of the slot, or radially over the height of the slot.
- each passage opening and therefore here of each slot is a function of the maximum diameter of the wire to be connected that this slot incurs to immobilize.
- the tubular ends are hollow and the maximum admissible diameter for a wire 1 in a slot is fixed by the two identical notches 10- here referenced at their two edges on Figure 4- which limit this slot.
- These notches 10 are formed symmetrically with respect to a median longitudinal plane of the body and diametrically opposite through the wall of each tubular end.
- the pin 9 is here rectilinear, axially arranged and immobilized in the body 4 and the height of projection of a pin piercing tip 9, above the common bottom wall 8 in one of the wire passage openings - either here in one of the slots-is chosen to ensure a radial passage of the tip through the insulation 3 of a wire 1 and between the strands of the central conductor 2 of this wire.
- the height of this projection is preferably limited so as to avoid a complete diametrical crossing of the wire 1 by the piercing tip and an exit of the latter out of this wire after crossing.
- a plug 6 on a tubular end is carried out by screwing, the plug being either externally threaded to fit into the thread of a tubular end according to a solution not shown here, or internally threaded to come screw on the thread 11 made externally on each tubular end as shown in Figures 1 to 4.
- Each plug 6 comprises a central pusher 12 penetrating into the tubular end where it is screwed so as to approach the perforation point housed in this end, as and when it is screwed and up to a distance corresponding to the thickness of the insulation 3 of the wire 1 whose connection is provided in this tubular end.
- the central pusher 12 is here hollow and composed of a cylindrical base ending in a frustoconical part intended to come to bear laterally, by an annular bearing of smaller diameter than the base cylinder, on a wire in the connection position.
- connection of a wire 1, passing through is carried out by positioning the wire through the slot of a tubular end after the corresponding plug 6 has been unscrewed, or partially to allow the introduction of the wire between the tip of perforation and the plug, if the stroke of the latter allows, or completely the wire coming to be inserted through the slot in the slot once the plug is removed.
- the tubular ends are hollow and two longitudinal ribs 13 are provided for guiding and wedging the wire, per tubular end.
- the two ribs 13 of a tubular end are coplanar and arranged symmetrically with respect to the median plane, already mentioned above in connection with the notches 10, to which these ribs are parallel.
- the guiding of a wire to be connected is ensured by the obliquity of the ribs which tend in a first part to conduct this wire towards the center of the tubular element above the tip.
- the ribs 13 of a tubular end are mutually parallel and surround the perforation point which contains this tubular end, they are then separated by a distance corresponding to the diameter of the wire to be connected so as to center this wire on the tip, during connection, and to participate in its immobilization.
- connection terminal also makes it possible to connect to a wire, the diameter of which is defined by the slot width of a tubular end, another wire of smaller diameter by means of a sheath 14 coming to be inserted in a tubular end around a pin perforation point 9, between the bottom wall which carries this pin 9 and the plug 6 which closes the tubular end in question.
- the sheath 14 has external shapes complementary to the shapes of the elements mentioned above between which they are housed.
- This sheath 14 here comprises a body 15 of roughly cylindrical appearance intended to be inserted inside a tubular end through the open end of the latter.
- the body 15 is laterally provided with two longitudinal grooves 16 complementary to the ribs 13 of a tubular end -figure 2, 4 and 5-. These grooves make it possible to immobilize the body 15 in rotation in a tubular end and guide it in translation.
- the body 15 is made of molded insulating material, it is axially provided with a circular orifice 17 intended to allow the penetration of a pin piercing tip 3 into a conduit 18 transversely formed at the bottom of body 15, near this orifice 17.
- the transverse conduit 18, possibly through but here shown blind, is intended to ensure the maintenance of a wire; it is arranged so as to open facing a notch 10 between the edges of the latter which allows the passage of the wire to this conduit.
- the end of the body 15 which is opposite the circular orifice 17 is here extended by an externally overhanging annular element 19, intended to be inserted between a plug 6 and the tubular end where this plug is screwed so as to limit the insertion of the sheath 14 into the tubular end and to immobilize this sheath in translation, when the plug 6 is fully screwed.
- the maximum insertion of the sleeve 14 into a tubular end is preferably chosen so that the perforation point housed in this tubular end projects into the transverse cavity 18 of the sleeve over a height allowing it to pass through the insulation 3 on one side of the wire and the strands of the central conductor 2 without emerging from the other side of the wire.
- the body 15 also has an arrangement allowing the sheath 14 to be hooked to a plug 6 at the level of the central pusher 12 of this plug.
- This attachment arrangement comprises an axial cavity 20 formed in the body 15 so as to open in the center of the annular element 19 and to be able to receive the central pusher 12, it has for this purpose a structure whose profile is complementary that of the pusher which allows it to transmit to the body 15 the pressure exerted by this pusher when the cap is screwed on.
- a central stud 21 formed at the bottom of the axial cavity 20 makes it possible to subject the sheath in translation to the plug 6 when the latter is withdrawn.
- the central stud 21 snaps into a complementary housing 22 opening at the end of the central pusher 12 of the plug.
- connection of a wire 1 of smaller diameter to another wire 1 using a connection terminal is preferably carried out by first connecting the wire of larger diameter, on the side where the spindle is fitted into the common bottom wall 8 in the case of a spindle 9 forced in.
- the wire of smaller diameter is then introduced into the transverse conduit 18 of a sheath 14 subject to a plug 6.
- the screwing of the plug 6 on a tubular terminal end lowers the sheath, in this tubular end, around the tip perforating housed in this end, it causes this point to penetrate transversely inside the wire where it comes into contact with the strands of the central conductor to ensure electrical continuity between wires.
- connection terminal considered it is of course conceivable to connect two wires of diameters smaller than the maximum diameter provided with the connection terminal considered by using two sleeves provided for wires corresponding to the two wires considered.
- annular allowance 23 formed on the common bottom wall 8 around the pin 9 on the other hand and on the other side of this bottom wall. This annular allowance is in fact pressed against the insulator 3 of a wire around the spindle, when this wire pressed into the bottom of the slot by a plug 6.
- a sleeve 14 When a sleeve 14 is used, provision is made to surround the spindle 9 with a first seal 24 which is placed, between the bottom wall 8 and body 15 of the sleeve, in an external circular positioning groove 25. provided for this seal on the spindle.
- a second seal 26 is also provided near the mouth of the transverse conduit 18, in an inner circular groove 27 of the body 15, so as to come and surround the wire introduced into this conduit.
- the possibility is also provided of connecting more than two wires together using a terminal whose body has as many tubular ends as there are wires to be connected each tubular end comprising a pin piercing tip electrically connected to the piercing tips of the other tubular ends.

Description
The invention relates to electrical connection terminals for power transmission wires, according to the preamble of the main claim. Such a terminal is known, for example from document US-A-3 848 955. In this terminal, the conductive pin has at one end a conventional connector to be connected to a cable, and a tip at the other end. It is surrounded by an insulator which externally carries a thread cooperating with a female thread. When the pin is screwed into the body, the tip enters the conductor.
It is also known to connect wires for transporting electrical energy to each other by means of terminals comprising a tubular body, one externally threaded end of which has a blind transverse slot, the bottom of which forms a cradle arranged to receive superimposed electrical wires. , through or not.
A hollow plug, fitted internally with a central cylindrical plunger, is screwed onto the threaded end of the tubular body.
The pusher makes it possible to press and therefore electrically interconnect wires, bare or stripped, stacked in the slot between the bottom of the cradle and itself.
The electrical connection of the usual wires, the core of which is covered with an insulator formed by one or more layers, involves the removal of these layers from the zone of wire which is to be housed in the terminal.
The removal of the insulating layers must be carried out with care so as not to cause deterioration of the conductive core, in particular when this core is composed of multiple strands; it is inconvenient to carry out when the connection is to be carried out bypass on a wire which one does not want to break up.
The exposure of the core of a wire for its connection in a terminal has the further disadvantage of increasing the risks of inadvertent contact of this wire with an apparatus or a nobody, in particular in the event of the wire coming out of the terminal as a result of untimely loosening of the latter.
Ce but est atteint selon l'invention par la borne telle que définie par la revendication 1.Compared to the known terminal of document US-A-3 848 955, the invention aims to provide both the connection between the pin and the stranded conductor and between the pin and a cable to be connected. This object is achieved according to the invention by the terminal as defined by claim 1.
The invention and its preferred implementation are specified in the description which follows in conjunction with the figures listed below.
La figure 1 présente un exemple de borne de raccordement électrique, selon l'invention, montée sur des fils électriques qu'elle interconnecte.FIG. 1 shows an example of an electrical connection terminal according to the invention, mounted on electrical wires which it interconnects.
Figures 3 and 4 show two axial longitudinal sections at right angles respectively along III-III and IV-IV of the connection terminal according to the invention.
The connection terminal presented in FIG. 1 is intended to interconnect two electrical energy transport wires 1, of the
The
In the case of tubular ends not aligned along the same longitudinal axis, the
The wire passage openings which open in the side wall of the tubular ends are possibly blind, in the proposed embodiment they are diametrical and pass right through the tubular ends at the end of which the more they open, each delimiting a slot allowing the insertion of a through wire, either transversely through the open end of the slot, or radially over the height of the slot.
The width of each passage opening and therefore here of each slot, is a function of the maximum diameter of the wire to be connected that this slot incurs to immobilize.
In the proposed embodiment and in particular for reasons of economy of material, the tubular ends are hollow and the maximum admissible diameter for a wire 1 in a slot is fixed by the two identical notches 10- here referenced at their two edges on Figure 4- which limit this slot. These
The
Each
The
The connection of a wire 1, passing through, is carried out by positioning the wire through the slot of a tubular end after the
This last possibility allows the mounting of the terminal without stripping or splitting of the wire, the latter possibly being permanently installed.
The screwing of the
In addition, in the proposed embodiment, the tubular ends are hollow and two
The connection terminal according to the invention also makes it possible to connect to a wire, the diameter of which is defined by the slot width of a tubular end, another wire of smaller diameter by means of a
The
In the proposed embodiment, the
The
It is possible to pass a wire crossing through a conduit if it leads to the two
The end of the
The maximum insertion of the
In the embodiment shown, the
This attachment arrangement comprises an
The connection of a wire 1 of smaller diameter to another wire 1 using a connection terminal according to the invention is preferably carried out by first connecting the wire of larger diameter, on the side where the spindle is fitted into the
It is of course conceivable to connect two wires of diameters smaller than the maximum diameter provided with the connection terminal considered by using two sleeves provided for wires corresponding to the two wires considered.
Cette surépaisseur annulaire vient en effet se plaquer sur l'isolant 3 d'un fil autour de la broche, lorsque ce fil enfoncé en fond de fente par un bouchon 6.In the proposed embodiment, provision is made to avoid the penetration of moisture into the wires on the one hand using an
When a
It is of course conceivable to have a seal at each mouth of the
The possibility is also provided of connecting more than two wires together using a terminal whose body has as many tubular ends as there are wires to be connected each tubular end comprising a pin piercing tip electrically connected to the piercing tips of the other tubular ends.
