Description
The invention relates to a method for producing an applicator brush, in particular a mascara brush, in which the bristles are inserted between two elongated parts of the fastening element and the fastening element is then twisted, so that the bristles protrude radially from the fastening element and in helical lines around it Fastener run around.
From DE 35 05 969 A1 an applicator brush, in particular a mascara brush, is known, to the fastening element of which bristles are fastened which project from the fastening element in the radial direction. The bristles of the applicator brush are arranged in alternating longitudinal rows of longer and shorter bristles, or the bristles are provided in a helical shape with larger and smaller lengths. With this well-known mascara brush the bristles are inserted centrally between the two elongated parts of the fastening element. The fastener is then twisted so that the bristles are evenly arranged around the twisted fastener. This results in a cylindrical outer contour of the mascara brush and only after additional processing does a mascara brush with longitudinal rows or helically wound rows of bristles result in a workload that has an effect on the production costs of the mascara brush.
Ein derartiges Mascara-Bürstchen bedingt vergleichsweise aufwendige Herstellungsmaschinen, ausserdem ist dei Kämm- und Auftragswirkung eines solchen Mascara-Bürstchens noch nicht zufriedenstellend.DE 32 31 574 A1 describes a brush which has a fastening element with ribs spaced apart from one another. The bristles are fastened to the fastening element by means of a flocking process in which an adhesive is applied to the fastening element and in which the bristles and the fastening element are charged electrostatically in such a way that the bristles are attracted to the fastening element. Such a mascara brush requires comparatively complex production machines, moreover the combing and application effect of such a mascara brush is not yet satisfactory.
An applicator brush similar to the applicator brush known from DE 32 31 574 A1 is known from US-A 45 27 575. In this applicator brush, too, the fastening element is made of a plastic part to be produced in a special molding process, which is flocked with the bristles in an electrostatic manner. Through special shapes of the fastener, it is possible to improve the combing and application properties of the applicator brush, but the manufacturing effort for such an applicator brush is considerable compared to a wire-like fastener that is twisted.
The invention has for its object to provide a method of the type mentioned for the manufacture of an applicator brush, esp. A mascara brush, with which simple, time-saving Way applicator brushes can be produced, which have an improved combing effect and with which an improved mascara application is possible.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the bristles are eccentrically fixed between the two elongate parts of the fastening element before the fastening element is twisted, so that the bristles with a first partial length stand radially further away from the fastening element than with their remaining second partial length. This simple manner results in an applicator or. Mascara brush, in which the bristle tips run around the fastening element along two screw lines of different diameters offset by 180 degrees. It is therefore not necessary to re-cut the bristles after twisting the fastening element in order to realize rows of bristles which run helically around the fastening element around it. Another advantage is that this method can be carried out with the same short cycle times as have been possible in the manufacture of known mascara brushes with a twisted fastening element. In addition, the mechanical effort to carry out this method is extremely low. Only a simple device or control is required in order to arrange the bristles between the two elongated parts of the fastening element not in the center but in the eccentric direction. The remaining individual parts of the machine for carrying out the method for producing the applicator brush can advantageously remain unchanged.
The first partial length with which the bristles protrude from the fastening element defines the diameter of the larger helix of the bristle tips. The second, shorter part length of the bristles defines the small diameter, i.e. the diameter of the smaller helix of the bristle tips.
Before the fastening element is twisted, the bristles are preferably all on one side farther from the fastening element away than on the opposite second side. However, it is also possible for the bristles to form bundles of bristles in the axial direction before the fastening element is twisted, adjacent bristle bundles being offset from one another by 180 degrees. The bristles preferably all have the same length, because then the effort for storing the bristles is low. According to the invention, it is possible that the bristles are all laterally offset to the same extent with respect to the fastening element, that is to say that the first partial length of the bristles or the remaining second partial length of all bristles are the same. With such a design, a brush is obtained after the fastening element has been twisted, in which the helix of large diameter and the helix of small diameter lie on cylindrical lateral surfaces. However, it is also possible to arrange the bristles between the two elongated parts of the fastening element in such a way that the two complementary partial lengths of the bristles increase or decrease continuously, incrementally or in any other way. remove, so that after twisting the fastening element there are helical lines of the tips of the bristles which are frustoconical, continuous or stepped or any other design.
A further improvement in the combing effect or an improvement in the mascara application on eyelashes results from the fact that the bristles are trimmed after twisting the fastening element in such a way that the fastening element lies outside the center of the base area of the brush. With a brush produced according to this method, on the one hand a more targeted mascara application and on the other hand a more targeted combing effect can be achieved. This re-cutting process makes it possible to implement a mascara brush with a base shape that has, for example, the shape of an ellipse.
If re-cutting of the bristles is contemplated after twisting the fastener, the first partial length of the bristles is preferably re-cut. The bristles can be cut on one side up to the minimum diameter of the brush, which is the second partial length of the bristles.
In the method according to the invention, known bristles made of natural or plastic material with a circular cross section can be used, for example. However, it is also possible to use bristles made of a plastic material with any other cross section. It has proven to be advantageous to use bristles with a cloverleaf-shaped cross section. Such bristles show good storage properties for mascara, moreover such bristles have a stiffness, which is desirable with such mascara brushes. Another possibility is that bristles with a hollow cross section are used. Such bristles have similar advantageous properties as the bristles described last with a cloverleaf-shaped cross section.

After the two
Fig. 4 shows a
In contrast, a bristle is shown in Fig. 9 greatly enlarged in cross section, which is cloverleaf-shaped. Of course, it would also be possible to design the cloverleaf-shaped cross-section not as a full cross-section but as a hollow cross-section. Any other cross-sectional shapes can also be implemented. FIG. 1 shows a bristle 16 which, in comparison with the bristle drawn in FIG. 9, has a three-leaf cross section and a four-leaf cross section.
Claims (8)
- Method for the manufacture of a small applicator brush, in particular a mascara brush, wherein the bristles (16) are introduced between two elongate parts (12) of the mounting element (10) and the mounting element (10) is subsequently twisted, so that the bristles (16) radially project from the mounting element (10) and extend round the mounting element in helical lines,
characterized in that
the bristles (16) are fixed eccentrically between the two elongate parts (12) of the mounting element (10), so that with a first part length (a; a1, a2), the bristles (16) project radially further from the mounting element (10) than with their remaining second part length (b; b1, b2). - Method according to claim 1,
characterized in that
before the mounting element (10) is twisted, the bristles (16) all project further on one side from the mounting element (10) than on the opposite second side. - Method according to claim 1 or 2,
characterized in that
after the mounting element (10) has been twisted, the bristles (16) are trimmed in such a way that the mounting element (10) lies outside the centre of the base area of the brush. - Method according to claim 3,
characterized in that
the first part length (a; a1, a2) of the bristles (16) is trimmed. - Method according to claim 3 or 4,
characterized in that
the bristles (16) are trimmed down on one side to the minimum diameter of the brush determined by the second part length (b; b1, b2) of the bristles (16). - Method according to at least one of the preceding claims,
characterized in that
bristles with a circular cross-section are used. - Method according to at least one of claims 1 to 5,
characterized in that
bristles (16) with a cloverleaf cross-section are used. - Method according to at least one of the preceding claims,
characterized in that
bristles (16) with a hollow cross-section are used.
